I'm sorry but reading this I think you got taken by a kazeem. These are the most common issues "kazeems" defraud people with. If you really needed work done on all those systems there is NO way 100k would have covered it. It seems you paid something to do absolutely nothing and maybe even mess up the car more. The minute I read "compressor" my blood ran cold that you'd been screwed over by your mechanic.
Are you deliberately blind to this:

I bought a new oil, Castro synthetic blend, quite pricey not your regular oil though cos thats what the car uses. Mind you, I already paid 22k to Amdman for his mechanic to add it to the car. But he didn't.

You can call it "mechanic's fraud" but you were not there. I'm not a novice in stuffs about cars. You do know there are stuffs you use to check cars right?

Girl, drop it. The guy knows what he sold me.

Well, this is looking like a circle. I've stated my point. You guys think I'm faking it, aiit but nobody drops everything they're doing to come here and write this type of review without something prompting it. I've been following this thread since last year and this is the first time I'm actually writing a comment and being on it for this long. For someone like me, there's a reason for that.
Enjoy your weekend everyone.

Going forward, stop doing biz with these Nlanders. After 9 hitch free deal, they'll eventually show their colour on the tenth one. Its unfortunate you have to be one of his victims.

Don't buy things here, from Electronics, Data, phones, Cars etc. Most of them are crooks

No I am not stupid. Are you?

He called his customer, Jesterfly , a liar saying that he never made a “NO rust” claim.

Jesterfly responded with a video showing he actually did.

Did he apologize or even acknowledge the video? No.
It's obvious you are stupid, since in the video was there anywhere shown that there's rust is what i asked you and where the claim of rust was, is it shown in the video and did you see the two types of check Amdman does? Do you know which jester paid for? Op only refute the claim base on what transpired between them. So now you can stop being stupid. Also quote me with your main if you get the mind

Now that the car is with you, I think you'd have to buy the battery yourself. It's quite painful to incur additional unexpected expenses.
Don't let this defect overwhelm the joy of getting such ride.

How can it be painful to incur additional cost like brake fluid and battery? Are these not things one should have at heart to replace once the car is delivered?

The matter weak me. These are things one should replace. Even the tyres. It's her loss not to refer other customers. Cuz what she just complained of are things that should be changed.

No I am not. I won’t call you stupid but I will say that you have serious comprehension issues. If you ever have plans of writing IELTS, please fix this first.

He totally denied this statement he made ‘no rust at all’ He called his customer a liar. If not for video evidence, we would have believed that Jesterfly lied.

He called his customer a liar, customer responded with video evidence and he did not apologize or even acknowledge the video.

Please read to understand and do not resort to insults as your first defense because it shows that’s all you have up there.

Oh please,
We all agree there would be fixes, but how much?
How much enough for the car to be called Nigerian used and no longer a tokunbo?
How much fixes is needed to say a car is a lemon and a write-off.and not worth a tokunbo?
Sir, how much of it?
The first car I bought was in 2008 from.cotonou,
There was no single rust under the car.
There was rust showing on the engine head (the part that gets very hot after car is started and driven a little). It's a Honda engine.
The only thing I did on that car was servicing (oil and filter) and I worked on the pipes in the braking system. (The rubber pipe leading to the brake disc had a leak somewhere and my brake was failing after I had driven the car for over 4 months.
I changed all the tyres because I wanted a standard look.
That's all.
So I ask how much becomes too much to consider the fixes too much for a tokunbo car.
Modified*** there was also a leakage from the roof ( windshield). I had it glued or gumed.

If u seek quality over cheap! Going by present economic situation, the things you articulated above are well over 80k. Tires 55k, oil 19k, filter 2k, other repairs 10k+. Now this is a car with no fault o! Bros be considerate. Let's face the fact.

After 1 month, 2 weeks and five days I finally finished reading this entire thread from top to bottom grin

My Opinion: amdman is doing a very good job providing cheap cars.

But at what point does the craze for cheap cars become a penny wise pound foolish venture?

Car that you will get at a car stand here in naija for 1.5 million, you buy it for 1.2 from the op and in the process risk high blood pressure because op didn't reply your messages after you don send money enter him aza grin, or you end up with a rust bucket that becomes a Delilah in your life, or you get a working vehicle and live happily ever after..

Give or take, I have noticed that people who buy cars advertized on this thread still spend some money aside normal servicing to bring the cars up to standard....I was hearing 50k here, 20k there,....drops of water make an ocean...small small, the 1.2 million crew may end up spending what they thought they had pinched away by going the Canadian way grin

My own humble opinion is...before jumping on the 1.2 million wagon, please ask yourself...is the extra 200 or 250k I am trying to pinch worth the back and forths, long waits, and the dicey chance of ending up with a car that may still gulp that money you pinched and still never be totally free of its Ebola..

Much as all of us are looking for the cheapest stuff, we should also consider that for 200k or so extra we can just walk out of our homes to any car dealer in our town accompanied by a trusted Inspector and knowledge of the desired car gleaned from online forums and enough patience not to get carried away by shiny waxed bodies of vehicles, and come back home that same day with a nice car which will serve well, ceteris Paribus smiley

Sense sense sense.
In a nut shell,People love cheap stuffs, but sometimes cheap things come at a price.《 Peace》

Sir,
Sir, let's remove tyres cos I could drive the tyres that came with them for 7 months.
I just changed the tyres because I was going to attend a wedding.and I was the one that brought those 2 together and I had money to spare.
I drove the car with the tyres that came with it for 4 months.
It had no faults sir like u said,
It was tokunbo not brand new na.
We talking of tokunbo cars too.
I am just saying fixes on a tokunbo car ( not accidented) should be less than Nigeria used all things being equal.

So many Trump-words on Nairaland! People get bad mouth gan ni!

Amdman, please take these suggestions if anything:

- Suggestion based on Case 1: Stop selling Ford cars to people who live outside Lagos. It seems good Ford mechanics are hard to come by in other cities! This issue wouldn't have happened if the lady had been a Lagos resident since there's a lot of Ford mechanics in Lagos.

- Suggestion based on Case 2: I'd rather you focus on common cars that are in naija. Toyota, Benz, Nissan,... Basically European and Asian cars!

Work on giving prompt response to people though!

Lastly, please upload pictures of cars currently available! A friend of mine is highly interested.

Again, you resorting to insults just shows the stuff you are made off.

Go and read Amdman’s reply to him, nowhere did he even refer to the video and retract his earlier comment denying he made such a statement.

It’s good to defend someone but leave room for the person you are defending to take correction and learn from it.

I’m sure if there was no video, you will join everyone to say he never said such. Never vouch for anyone apart from yourself.

If Nigeria was good, someone like me wouldn't have any reason to order a car from Canada or elsewhere but the fraud here is too much. Everyone wants to take advantage of the other.

Nigeria car dealers would be the last place I'd recommend to anybody to patronize. No matter how bad it may be with Amdman, I can't walk into a Nigeria car shop.

It's either they buy a fairly used car and spray it, inflate car price like it'll never develop any fault, work on accidented cars and sell, modify car mileage and engine to make it look good, and more. The list is endless. I can't patronize them even in my dream. I will always stick to someone like Amdman. At least, a sound engine and first body car can give a little peace of mind. Every other thing can be taken care of.

I got my ride from Amdman and those two key features didn't disappoint. Admittedly, there are other things I need to fix but it was expected because I wasn't buying a new car. In this country, banks won't send you debit alert for many hidden debits they do on your account but when you generate your account statement you find them there. It's same with Amdman but I suggest that prospective clients request for full inspection and Amdman should do well to disclose everything. I've said this before here.

For the Code kinikor girl, if your engine and other major things are okay. Please, keep the car and use it. Car shops in Nigeria is something else. They'll f*ck you up. They see themselves as gods when they are just there to scam people. Amdman shouldn't think he can take advantage of the Nigeria sad situation. I know how I've convinced people here and off this place to work with him. I'm advising him to see the situation as an opportunity to do business and not one to cause more pains.

I know what I've said to you Amdman. Take my counsels and those of others who wish you well and improve. Your primary responsibility as I've said before is PROPER INSPECTION and not just paying for and taking a car to warehouse for shipping. If you are in for this business, please put your heart in it and do it well.

I'd be sticking around here and if I find more disturbing reviews on things you've been advised on how to do them well, I'd join others to pull down this thread. Right now, I'd still encourage people to patronize you because many of these challenges are emerging but if by fall of this year, bad reviews still come for things that ought not to be issue, I'd know you are not serious and your dealings here should be discouraged.

Please, sit up and do your best to satisfy your customers. We want you to succeed.

Your major problem now is communication and inspection. For your mechanic issue, tell your client to go to Lagos and get a mechanic to service their car. Don't recommend again. These guys can hardly be trusted. Don't say you trust them. At the end, the problems they may end up creating would be on your head.

Continue to seek counsels to improve your business. Every problem is surmountable except you are not willing to surmount them because you may be profiting from them. However, I'm still believing that you are good except when I see obvious facts. Sit up and take charge sir.

That's exactly what I gleaned from the video. No interior rust when he opened the door. He obviously didn't look under the car. A miscommunication in my opinion but understandable why Jester assumed none under either.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
If you buy a used car of 4 years or more from North America it is virtually impossible not to have some rust unless the previous owner rust proofed it. That doesn't mean the car is bad. I mentioned elsewhere I just bought a 2014 Acura MDX from New York. It was cheap and I fully expected some rust. All I had to do when it arrived on Monday was spend $150 to rust proof it and move on with my life. Car is a beauty with no mechanical faults. Rust is not the end UNLESS it's deep.

Thanks for the info. What's the average price range to rust proof cars? Is it dependent on the brand? Or $150 is generally sufficient?

Depends on how many cans you need. In my case, 5 or 6 will do it and they cost $6-12 a can. Labor is not long and the procedure takes a few hours to dry.

I think what I spent is a good baseline for moderate rust

Amdman, you're a business man. Shit happens. Like you must be aware by now, below are areas I feel your should work on:

1. Work on your communication with customers. From responses here, you are doing poorly in that area.

2. Please make full disclosure to potential buyers, even if you have to bill to do thorough inspection please do.

3. DO NOT recommend any mechanic for clients again. You can't control things when you are not here. This is Naija.

Lastly, just put a few sincere words here and let's move ahead. Don't over flog the issue mbok.

@Codyella, please calm down. I can understand how painful it is to spend money you never planned for especially in these times. Don't even let the insults of a few here get to you. Also look for someone that can guide you in dealing with mechanics until you understand their ways. All indication points to a very greedy and dishonest kazeem that may have taken advantage of you.

Please new deals!!

From the views I have read you can see very many mean well for you, I advise you stick to the advise proffer by them. Those antagonizing you, should not surprise you.
Your client satisfaction is utmost. I have done busines with you and spoken with you on several occasions, the maturity with which you deal and transact business you must not throw to the gutters.
I know the constraints of time difference, my advise is let your client and referrers know when to call, to avoid the issue must people complain about, your response.
What I got from you was top notch, it was full disclosure, I expect you keep same standard with every other client you deal with. I avoided the mech you recommended because I have mine I can supervise.
Apart from brand new cars, every car owner knows certain touches needs to made to fine tune the car to their taste.
This issue should teach you to re-strategize on how you conduct your business not dampen your enthusiasm.
One love.

As I would always say, we prioritize those that we have collected money from and respond to all their enquiries. We responded to her earlier today before she made her initial post, and we chatted for about 2hrs. It was when we refused to make payment for a new battery that she threatened she would come here and actually did.

As a demonstration of our good faith, we have offered her a full refund for the car, but she has declined it.
