Good day y’all. I’m Adegbola, a Nigerian. I recently got admitted to Howard university for fall 20, class of 2024. I got the Capstone scholarship at Howard which is a $26k (i.e tuition and fees). However, based on financial barriers I can afford pay for the accommodation. I’m hereby seeking help from anyone who lives or or knows anyone that lives in Washington D.C or Maryland that could accommodate me for a first year (freshman year) such that in upcoming years I can apply for external scholarships and also work some jobs to get funding. Thanks as you help out.

One more thing guys. I am still awaiting feedback from any legit person who want to come to Lamar University for MIS or MBA. I will like to guide you through the process and I don't think you would be need GRE or GMAT...these are desperate times.

I'm interested.

Good evening.

I want to ask about the procedure of pursuing a nursing degree in the US. I don’t have a background in Science. I am a graduate of History. I want to know if it is possible to switch career paths. Thank you

Hi everyone.

Are online jobs calculated as part of the 20 hours a week an F1 student can work for?

Thank you.

If the job is offered by the school you got the GA from, sure!

You can always switch career plan, but not before you leave Nigeria. It is usually hard to get an F1 with a nursing admission. The possibility is very slim it appear almost impossible. How do you plan to explain to the consular the reason for abandoning what you studied for 4 years and never practiced?? Also, you don't have prerequisite academic background to succeed in a nursing program in the US, given that you studied history.

A friend is currently on the same route, but he had to take some courses, and planning to sit for the the nursing exam, then he'll take it from there. It is a step by step journey, but it is very possible if you know how to navigate the waters.

Hello dear, I think it may be worthwhile to throw a little light regarding grad school with specific reference to the PhD program admissibility. It will be nice to know the program you intend going for. But to wit that there are a few programs in the biosciences in top tier grad schools that do not require nor recommend the GRE. And as per funding, a PhD admit is almost always funded.
But please do note that the GRE tend to be required in CS and Engineering programs. I'm not quite sure how the Humanities operate though, but there are variations. So yes you can get a PhD admit which should be funded with or without GRE. And perhaps without an MS. Your research potential is increasingly important at this level. I'm happy to recommend programs if you're interested in the biosciences. But these programs are top tiers.

Cheers!

Okay. Would a freelance online job be calculated as part of it? Even if one was engaged in it before leaving for the US.

No. That is not part of the 20 hours-a-week job! Such are not considered illegal job, and considering that you have the freelance work before you leave the country, it is not part of your program and does not have connection with your SSN.

Setup payment to go into your Nigeria bank account (or make sure that your SSN is not connected to the payment). A freelance job is considered real job in US. Even YouTube earnings are considered income when you're on visa e.g H1B.

Key is to make sure that you don't associate your US identity (SSN) with your freelancing business; that includes routing your income to Nigeria and not supplying your SSN on those platforms.
