Wish i was in ur shoes cus d kind smell comin out frm my neighbors compound i can even taste it

First, it was pains all over my body and joints. Thought it was the normal pains I used to have (been managing some health issues on my own for a while now). Few days later it became a serious headache, and then runny nose and sneezing. I quickly gathered some herbs and boiled them. I've been taking it for day now and I'm feeling better plus the ginger and garlic have really dealt with my fever a lot. However, this is the first time in my life I'm experiencing loss of taste and smell. It's been like three days now. I just finished eating indomie before I started typing; I really needed my sense of taste/smell back as the food was so tasteless. No sore throat but when I caugh ( at very long intervals), it's always dry. I go just rush drink plenty water, clear my throat and I go dey alright again. I just dey eat fruits vegetables, beta beta food. Coconut water be say na steady. I bin dey reason to call NCDC but the whole tin dey waka sha. Na only d headache dey prove stubborn. I never see dis kind tin b4.

You are covid-19 positive. That was the only symptoms I had in April and I was tested positive.

Either you go for test or you isolate yourself then start taking the home remedies

Shut up. It even happened to me last week. Keep laughing when you notice this symptom, you'll know that heaven and hell is real. It's the most uncomfortable thing in the world to loss to important senses completely

Oga na sinutisis infection you get its as a result of common cold infection Amoxicillin is enough to treat it
It happened to me during lock down and that's what I used to treat it

go and lick mad woman pusssasy for 21 days and everything will be ok. That's the only cure.

I had it too. The sensation was dreadful. I took all manner of stuff- ginger, zobo, garnic all in their undiluted form. But the most relieving was bitter cola and limca. Take it and you will feel stealthily. Good luck.


Less I forgot, don't reveal it to anyone close by o, except , and perhaps your mom or girl friend.

this is exactly my issue since one week now. I went out with friends and I took unusual of alcohol and the following day my case file was opened and since then I can't smell or taste anything. na malaria agbo I cooked and started taking since Wednesday but still can't smell anything till now but I can feel taste of things now but not smell

Op, just calm down, you will be fine but try and boost your immunity and reach out for help from numerous people who have won this battle. In hindsight, I would have suggested you call NCDC to rule out Covid-19 since we are in the middle of a ravaging pandemic.

It has been a great concern to informed individuals why the Covid-19 does not have a devastating effect in Africa.

I discovered that countries within the tropical zones have comparatively fewer fatalities. Here is a quick glance at the statistics: I am going to indicate the confirmed cases viz a viz the number of recorded deaths:
Saudi Arabia 101,914 / 712
Pakistan 98,943 / 2,002
Qatar 68,790 / 54
UAE 38,808 / 276
Kuwait 31,848 / 264
Afghanistan 20,342 / 357
Oman 16,882 / 75
Bahrain 14,763 / 25
While there is some truth that the climate of a region may have some effect on coronavirus, I think the effect is more palpable in its potency to lead to fatality than in it's infectivity. As we can see above, although the rate of infection is quite high in those countries, the death rates are rather shockingly low.

On the argument that Nigerians have some measure of immunity to coronavirus in view of their inherent exposure to antimalarial medications is not entirely substantiable especially when it is the case that malaria is a common epidemiological concern in many regions of the world. Malaria is found in more than 100 countries, mainly in tropical regions including:
Large areas of Africa and Asia.
Central and South America.
Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
parts of the Middle East.
some Pacific islands.
The reason why fatality rate to Covid-19 is low in Africa remains a subject line for intense research and study.
There must be something unique outside and beyond the above postulations. Yes, malaria is foreign to Europe, but not those climes listed above. That Brazil which shares almost the same climate with Nigeria and also familiar with malaria has such unimaginable level of fatality to Covid-19 is really cause for concern and study.

It is to be expected, however, that while some factors have proved helpful in limiting the fatality rate to this pandemic in Africa, there are obviously the case of some countries who have been lapse in containing this contagion. Even though the following countries lay within the tropical zones, their records do not look promising. For example;
Egypt 32,612 / 1,198
Iraq 12,366 / 346
Nigeria 12,233 / 342
Algeria 10,050 / 698
Sudan 6,081 / 359
Morocco 8,177 / 208
If Ghana records are to be used as a benchmark, the countries then have a lot to learn from that country. It is generally observed that nations that have been successful with this pandemic have been countries that adopted the following measures:
1) Early intervention and deployment of containment measures.
2) Efficient crisis management protocols
3) Accelerated testing and contact tracing.

I read somewhere that majority of infected ones in Nigeria are within the safe age bracket of 20-50years. Could that have explained our unique ability to fight off this virus even without resort to government intervention? I say this because I am of the school of thought that believes that this virus has infected more persons than are reported by NCDC due to their limited capacity to handle the cases. My belief is not unfounded as there are widespread reports of persons who have fought off this virus while relying on established efficacious medications obtained from informal sources.
I wish the goverment can do a targeted probe into this observation as this might be a strength that can be harnessed going forward.

Most of our African foods are carbohydrates and contain starch. Reason we Africans can't affort to add intake of sweetened beverages to our diet.

Please go on isolation. Community spread is more now and you dont want more infections.
You will be fine after 4-6 days. Na Covid you get, but you will be fine.
This lack of smell and or taste is now very common in Lagos and many people recover within 4 - 6 days.
