Sorry, this took me some time to come up with as I didn't have these details initially so, I had to give it a day to ensure I got it right. Find below; Network wasn't very stable at some point, even disappeared at one point and I had to switch to wifi.. Screen was awake all through with intermittent gaming, lots of music and full time browsing, reading, chatting and writing some articles.

If I haven't done it correctly, kindly point it out.

You did exceedingly well. The battery is good. Na RN5, RN4x and Mi 9T don give this kind results though with smaller displays with RN4x the smallest of the three

The version to install depends on the rom you want to flash. Check Telegram group of the rom you want to flash to know the appropriate version

I'm hearing oxygen OS is fine, but I'm open to any other good suggestions. Thanks

Check pages 77 and 127. Number one thing unlock ur phone bootloader. Back up ur file to your laptop b4 embarking on d adventure

I've flashed the Recovery successfully, I'm waiting to complete the download of the ROM. My network is quite slow.

When I checked if my bootloader is unlocked, this is what I saw. I'm confused because I've never unlocked my bootloader before so does this mean I can proceed with flashing twrp and rooting?

It is possible you bought a Chinese Version with Global ROM

I tried ArrowOs then on Mi Max 2. Charging speed was very slow. U check here for my review. U can check Xda for available AOSP based roms. From my experience those AOSP ROMs are not battery friendly. To overcome this u can root and install greenify app to hibernate or doze not frequently used apps

You should have gone for some of the latest devices by Xiaomi. But since your choice is RN4X then I will say the best way to enjoy it is to install a custom ROM. That way you can enjoy gcam and some of the new features on Redmi phones. This is my personal opinion though
