It all depends on the type of project you're working on (demands from the client).
The quality of work required also.
Another factor is the increased number of developers available, you can charge $500 for a job and another developer will gladly take $200 for the same work.

Yes you are right! What if the developer is working as a salary earner not a freelancer.

lalasticlala pls move this to Fp need more answers.
By salary earner you mean the dev working as part of a team or employed by a firm?
If you work for a dev firm then it's usually the firm that will fix the salary but as a freelancer you get to fix as you deem it fit.
Started out as a freelance dev during my school days and i charged my clients based on the amount of work needed.

An early Developer with 1-4 years of experience earns an average total (includes tips, bonus, and overtime pay) of 150k above.

A mid- Developer with 5-9 years of experience earns an average total compensation of 300k above.

Meanwhile your skills will dictate.

It depends on your position

In Nigeria

Junior devs earn anything between 80-250k larger startups like opay, paystack, terragon grp etc could even go as high as 300-350 depending on how talented you are

Mid level guys earn anything from 250-600, again depends on the company.

Seniors earn 600 and above. A dev once told me andela seniors earn about 800 upwards, alongside company perks, like lunch, transport and bonuses etc

Many senior and mid level devs move on to remote jobs though, especially the very talented ones. That’s where the money is since you earn in dollars or euros depending on the form that employed you. At that point you’d be talking over a million per month and yes they’re more common than you think

Below is a junior developer opening on stackoverflow so you get the drill. It doesn’t mean such jobs are easy to get, that’s why I said the very talented ones

Seniors are upwards of $70,000

modified

No Nigerian company will pay you $70k. At least none that I know of. I was referring to remote work.

The stackoverflow listing below is remote, it’s not a Nigerian firm, if you have the required qualifications, you can apply. Hopefully you get an interview

As a web developer who is good at what he does, you should be earning nothing less than 150k, especially if you work for non-nigerian clients.

I am totally oblivious of this field of interest and can not relate to the OP's point of argument. But I think it's an open market with no fixed price.

Web dev is saturated and watered down. Unless you are really good at what you do, and you work for top clients, then you'd be competing with all these bootcamp interns and copy and paste Indians.

In the 2000s, web devs made a lot of bucks just designing HTML CSS static pages. Not anymore.

Anyway, to the question. I'd say it depends on the project. But a project as basic as three pages of static website should be pegged at 200k.

This Pandemic has opened the eyes of many to realize that Technology is now a necessity in all sectors of the economy and human endeavours.

I've decided to take the challenge of learning Web Development because the future will be runed by technology which has already began; men and women with in-demand skills are gradually becoming the real MVPs. Skills (Sabificate) over Certificates.
