Abiola did not win that election, it was inconclusive... He declared himself president, he was arrested, his own people sold him for a pot of ewedu ... The rest they say is history.
Son of a bitterness. Go and ask Humphrey Nwosu who was the NEC umpire..and stop disgracing yourself in the public....

Is MKO Abiola a saint? Who told you he would have perform better?
The fact of the matter remains that barring the achievement baba will record in terms of plundering the wealth of this country, Abacha is a GOAT worthy of mention.

Having said that, no one is a saint, not you neither myself inclusive, not anyone. In other words, You misunderstood me.

What this country still faces back then is still prevalent till date. That's what I was talking about. I never said Abiola was a Messiah.

Please can you give a detailed picture of events in that era?

Some of us were not mature enough to discern what was going on in the country that period.
abiola ran away from the country at the heat of the struggle. Which made Uche Chukwumerije, the then Minister of Information call a caword war general (bashorun) because he left his soldiers at the battlefield and ran for his dear life.
It was one day when people were already adjusting to the military rule that he came back and made that declaration and was captured by abacha immediate. Nobody even said anything when he was arrested. We were all tired.
If you really want to research events of that period, try libraries and check for newspapers of that period - Concord (owned by abiola), punch, guardian and vanguard on abiola side. You will see headlines like "Nigeria on Fire" and Daily Times (govt paper), you will see headlines like "Abiola Is A Coward" and full page advert from unknown people saying "if abiola wants me to protest, abiola and his wives and children should come and stand in the front and i will follow behind"
It was really an interesting time. I was in Secondary School then.

There are no traitors anywhere. My people fought Abacha until his death and led the NADECO movement that sees to it that we return to democracy and that eventually made a Yoruba the president of Nigeria.

Your people are known to serve the fulanis without compensation. Ojukwu campaigned openly on the podium for Shagari while Daniel Kanu led 2 million march in support of Abacha.

What is your people gain? Nothing!
You gain absolutely nothing bro. Like Awolowo, like Abiola, so alsoAbiola's wife, Bola Ige, etc. The Fulanis have been killing you since 1900 and will never stop untill you gain some sense

But they killed nearly 3 million of your kinsmen on the stupidity of Ojukwu and yet you guys still sucked a Fulani Atiku cum in the last presidential election.

Yoruba have won a presidential election thrice in Nigeria and the Igbos are still second fiddle to Ijaws a minority tribe.

2023 also, you guys will still suck Atiku rectum. So bro who exactly lost to the Fulanis? Yorubas or Igbos?

Nigarrr, calm down. We are all born to this mess called Nigeria and as such, you know the Igbos very well. They put their all to whatever they believe. If one Nigeria is the ideology of Igbo race, we will be clinching the presidency back to back irrespective of how it's achieved.

Unlike you lots that lick the ass of the Fulanis since inception for crumbs. Igbos don't do that, bro.
Whatever, how is the errand boy in Also Rock doing?

you mean after Diya and all Yoruba traditional rulers were arrested and made to watch Nollywood video in also rock. That's a great humiliation going down as the greatest disgrace of any tribe. I think that's where Nadeco started.

I doubt if Abiola would have made much difference.
He was part of the military by sponsoring several coups.
He made a mistake thinking Nigeria is south Africa
He would have allowed the mandate go, and see how to get the power back, legally.
Two wrong never make a right.
He made a mistake declaring himself president.

It is saddening so see that all the problems of military rule which were listed are still the problems we face today even after 21 years of consecutive democratic rule.
26 years after this article, Nigeria is still plagued with the same problems. It makes me wonder if we are progressing at all.
conversely, the question on my mind is, are we even operating a democratic system in Nigeria or we are still under military rule shrouded in the guise of democracy?
13 of the 21 years if democracy have been under the leadership of former military dictators who continually rig themselves into power.
Until the vote of every Nigerian is truly counted in free and fair elections, Nigeria will continue to be plagued by this ugly cycle.
