I'm warming up to make meatpie(Nigerian) for the first time and went to Cocoandy's thread and found out that baking powder is not needed for meatpie.But I was wondering,what gives meatpie, the crispy (a kind of dryiness) feeling?

Since oyinbo get full English breakfast ( That funnily includes egg and beans in one single meal undecided

) I decided to come up with my own full pidgin English breakfast cheesy

Full Pidgin English breakfast : Fried Yam strips + Pan toasted sausages + Tomato & onion sauce

It's called radish. It's mildly spicy and really nice in sandwiches and salads. And looks beautiful too. cheesy

You don't need baking powder for meat pie. The flaky nature is due to the way one mixes, the coldness and crumb nature of the dough I think

@Akposy, honestly in my opinion it doesn’t have much flavor or taste of it’s own. It’s crispy/crunchy like an apple (ish) but doesn’t have the level of sweetness or tartness of an apple. It’s really mild.

But surprisingly very good in salads. When I remember to add it to my salad, I’ve always loved it.
I haven’t eaten it in a sandwich before. Also heard it tastes different when cooked. I’ve only eaten it raw.

Sorry for the late response. The obvious difference was the dough. It was thin and very soft. Like something that was properly and finely kneaded with enough butter. I don’t bake, I can’t explain well, but it had this finesse to it. cheesy

If there is anything I am sure of, it is the fact that I am sticking to this. You should try it.

This thread has the opposite effect on me but since you count on me I will also do better from now on. I find it easier to eat veggies but if fruit is your choice go for it.

I totally forgot yesterday was Friday, any day I don’t work- feels like a weekend to me. That is why I said next week. I will continue as I have started, but let me drop this chicken pepper-soup and yam here.

Peppered Chicken.

spiced and cooked with onions, pinch of ginger, garlic ,and knor cube.

stir fried in pepper onions sauce , baked for 30mins , stir fried again and served.
