Now that we know sukuk bond was heavily oversubscribed, I will advice investors look the way of VGIF. As you get your excess cash or return money, channel it to VGIF it's still reasonable at this time with Gurranteed rate of 8.5% and extra 35% of funds gains, it will be a good investment choice.

Hey, i reckon you should open the link below to get more insight how your country develop market economy. we need to inject depopulation in the Nigeria, if not, wahala go dey.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_Nigeria

shekauvsbuhari:
Devaluation will not help us because we manufacture next to nothing. So we have almost nothing to sell. The little we manufacture, almost all the raw materials are imported. Also the machineries and spares for them are all imported. If we devalue, forex will cost high and raw materials, machineries and spares will be very costly, thereby making the locally produced goods to be too costly again. Devaluation only favours states that have a lot of things to export. In Nigeria what is the significant export? Crude oil. Devaluation will be counter-productive in Nigeria because we dont have competitive edge.
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Theconglomerate(m): 2:59pm On Jun 13, 2020
XiaoLi:
Oga calm down, devaluation will not help us for now without adequate infrastructure and security, if you devalue to start manufacturing will you run your machines on diesel? Im sure you have been to countries that do alot of export,do you realize the companies work day and night and even most goods are taken to the seaport from 6-7pm till dawn, where is the security to protect this workers which might be going to work at night and and where is the security to protect the valuable goods which might be taken to the seaport at night? I can go on and on...
Devaluation is not an instant developmental process but if managed properly, its effects can be seen in 8-10 years.
Yes if you start an industry, they can run on diesel in the meantime while the government is saving all these funds it uses to maintain forex to fix power.
When we devalue appropriately, even our high cost of production won't matter as imports will still surpass it by a very wide margin. So why should anyone bother about diesel and maintenance costs?
You know a lot of people don't know how much money a working power sector in Nigeria is going to generate for the masses and government too.
Why waste all that funds to satisfy Nigerians now whereas we can invest it in phases to fix our biggest problem,if not for political reasons?
Also about the security thing,I don't think Nigeria has gotten that bad to the point where truckers can no longer move at night.Infact they even prefer night time sef to avoid unscrupulous police officers on the road,so?
And do you think Nigeria is building all these rails, ports and other logistic solutions for nothing?
I foresee an end to artificial naira in the nearest future.
Its evident already.

You can make your point without been offensive. the word
Theconglomerate:
Who told you Nigeria produces next to nothing? undecided
I'm sure you pulled this statistic from your arse.
And it is not a rule of thumb that you devalue currency so you can export more.
You can also devalue to fight off imports so that local producce can satisfy local needs without overly cheap imports fighting it for market share.

The trick with the stock market is to never follow what you read on the news.

I invested 20k in Macy's back in march when it was 4 dollars sold it at 8 dollars effectively doubling my funds.

I'm now using d funds to scalp d market which earns me around 5 to 6 percent daily.

Do d maths.

Sukuk bond , tb even eurobonds are not the best investments right now .

D ten k i put in stanbic eurobond since November last year as returned a paltry 256 dollars.

Investors should look into the us stock market if they want heavy returns.
If one wants to invest in a company in the USA stock market, what are the procedures?

Use this statistic to tell yourself which sector of the economy is insignificant.
Also, ask yourself it is wise to keep subsidising the rest of the economy with oil revenue that is this small and subject to fluctuations.

I keep hearing "what are we producing as nigerians" this statement is very insulting and it shows a lot of people are not really aware about their environment.
If you want to know more about producers we have in nigeria then join Business associations, Simple to meet them.
MAN - Manufacturer association of Nigeria
Abscon
Nasme
Nassi - Nigeria association of small scale industrialist (am in this group, Abeokuta chapter)
Naccima/Chamber of commerce
Amen - Association of micro entrepreneurs of nigeria
Smedan
Etc
You will marvel and be surprise by the sheer numbers of business men and entrepreneurs we have in nigeria.
Afan - All farmers association of Nigeria (am in this one too)
Register with Nepc - Nigeria Export promotion commission with just 12k and be an exporter even with small things like natural african honey and snails and earn dollars.
A lot of youths just want to sit at home and the govt should spoonfeed them with money and jobs.
To get a loan or government approved loans are very easy.
Join any of the above association because they work directly with government and cbn and all loans come through them like Nirsal loan, anchor borrowers scheme (this is still on going in our Nassi whatsapp group). etc
As at this January, i was at ogun state/federal meeting where they were begging us to take loans released by government through BOI, BOA, banks like sterling, zenith etc with there representatives there for Smes.
Getting capital or loan is not a problem if you have a good business plan etc
I applied for 10m this January but later pulled out but my colleagues got theirs after a 1-week compulsory cbn entrepreneurship seminar/class to brush us up.
I dropped out because i can raise that money from my salary so no need for it i learnt a lot from the class

Nigeria doesn't produce nothing undecided
I'm guessing a truck assembly plant came to Nigeria to play.
Who do they think is buying all those brand new china trucks? undecided Oil and gas firms I guess.
Must Nigeria manufacture planes and machinery before it is classified as productive?
I asked one the other day to mention some of the things that Nigeria imports asides machinery and technology that isn't produced here and the guy was dumbfounded.
Nigeria does not start and end in your apartment.
Go out,get a real business and educate yourself on how devaluation will benefit your business but nah...
They rather settle for less and buy 7% fixed income and be chanting how unproductive their Nigeria is and how Nigeria is going to go like Venezuela if it devalues .
Well the good thing is CBN is beginning to play ball and we'll see how it goes henceforth than empty bickering.

Answer to your question - Many things, many many things.
That is why you need to join those business associations to see practical business people with factories, companies and exporters exporting those things abroad.
I don't know about advance machineries and medical drugs but a large percentage of what we import are also been produced here by our local industrialists.

Yes you are right but the bitter truth also is that a large percentage of people looking for job, underemployed or fully working would have been better off if they were trained and schooled on business and how the society works.
A lot of them will be so amazed about their innate skills that are dead and not realised or used because they didn't expand/broad their view of life.

Exactly. The people preaching an entrepreneurial utopia are ignorant (or pretending to be ignorant) of the fact that 20% of businesses fail in the first year, 50% by the fifth year and long-term, more than 70% fail - https://www.fundera.com/blog/what-percentage-of-small-businesses-fail. Of those that don't fail, there isn't any assurance of making the owners wealthy either - sometimes the owners are essentially earning employee-level salary.

Statistically, for the vast majority of people, corporate work and passive investing is a surer path to success.

Anybody who is jobless should be prepared to render services, sell goods, manufacture goods and any legal activity that will bring in money.

The business environment is very hostile, which is a major reason why people are very careful with their funds.

Checkout the percentage of retirees who retired ten years ago. A group ventured into business, while another group invested their funds with established names.

Most cases over 90% of those who went into business, would have lost substantial funds and will be poorer.

at times enviroment matters too. its easier for, people,in,a,commercial city like lagos or onitsha to start a profitable biz than people in a non commercial area like uyo. some people who, dread biz will still priortize fixed income, investment, bt d truth is there is more money in biz than all these fixed income. i have seen people with capital of abt 1m making profit of 8m annually or more. imagine d small profit dt 1m can generate in fixed income annually, people who re really into real biz dt is moving dont have time for all these fixed income stuff, any revenue they generate from sales is re invested into getting more, goods asap. biz fail bc,of wrong planning, and not having adequate info. personally i have done businesses am not, into before and excelled. why d pessimism

At the bolded - of course, what do you expect? It happens regularly when you see people who loses their jobs, retirees and pensioners jump into business and lose all their money. They become depressed, suicidal while some develop cardiac arrest, high blood pressure, hypertension, stroke and most times outright death.
What do you expect?
When people are not properly trained or get the necessary technical know-how or knowledge needed to run and manage a business.
Let me ask you -
You know how many years, time, commitment etc youths/students put in to become doctors, engineers, teachers etc. The number of years in classes from nursery, primary, secondary, lessons, books, tertiary level to become what they are? The trainings - Siwes, industrial attachment, NYSC, housemanship to become what they are? Even after graduating and working, they don't give you command immediately because you are still fresh and only knows theory, they niw pair you with an Oga at work to monitor, guide and supervise you?
But when it comes to business, we believe because we have money and someone introduced a business idea they seem profitable, you believe and jump into it and expects magic?
No commitment, training, mentor, supervisor, guardian, successful businessman to work for free for like a year to model his business plan?
No joining of business association to meet like minds and socialize with and tap their experiences?
Businesses is just like any other job bro.
If you pass through the normal channel, you will have the confidence and boldness to run it.

There are elementary grounds you need to understand to help you get further insights.

1. Define and understand what TB's are.
2. Understand types of TB
3. How TB's are issued and why
4. What and where are the TB funds used.

After this, you may now have an overview of what you are investing in and whethet its ripe for you to go for it as we seek.

I always laugh whenever i hear that we do not produce anything. Just few weeks of Covid-19 and the almighty America that these people make noise about upandan started fighting over common tissue paper wen dem dey take clean ny*sh. Small scale industries are producing a lot using local raw materials. Fabricators have since been fabricating simple local machines.

Even among the experienced people, it is not easy. Reason why if you check the top 100 millionaire and billionaires on the Forbe list about 30 years ago, it will be very difficult to find 10 who are still on the list except for Warren Buffet the most consistent member of the Forbe league list.

A lot of the members of the business associations, trade association, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, are still struggling for survival. The Pareto's law is real, 20% of the people or businesses control 80% of the resources or market. While 80% of the people or businesses will control 20% of the resources or market.

People should stick to what suits their reality, experience, knowledge, resources and temperament.

Innoson is expanding at a fast pace in order to meet demands and yet they say Nigeria is not producing anything.
My brother I tire.
Maybe Innoson is doing beautification project in Anambra.
Nigeria don't produce anything but has a GDP of $466B and the so called oil brings just $50B or there about.
So the real question is where is the $416B coming from since Nigeria is so unproductive asides oil
