abmarine:The same Bible tells u all these abi? Oga use your head.. U can research personally about the origin of the Bible, na human beings write am, some edited it later in the years to suit their agenda, some translated it to other languages. Read about king James. emperor Nero, council of Nicea etc. The bible is full of contradictions and discrepancies. It doesn't add to any new knowledge in terms of science or technology. It's full of imaginary beings like dragons, unicorns, talking donkey, talking serpent, and many other magical acts that don't happen in real life. Not to talk about false promises and hopes it gives people. Read the Bible without sentiments, and you'll see these things I'm saying |

Mrpojj:50 shekels of silver is about 570 grams of silver, that about $450, so if someone rapes your virgin daughter or sister, that's enough compensation right? Infact him paying that makes him entitled to marry her too. |

Well said. Moreso, aside fulfilling the law by redeeming us from the law of sin and death, Jesus taught us how to live as partakers of the new covenant by asking us to emulate his kind of love towards one another (John 15:12,13), a level of love that could make you die for another person. He went further to answer a scholar's question on what the greatest commandment is (Mathew 22:35-40) by stating that we should love God with ALL our heart, soul and mind and then loving our neighbors the way we love ourselves. He concluded that all other laws are summed up in these two. I'm quoting the above scriptures to make it clear that Jesus abolishing the old law does not permit sinfulness or crime against humanity but rather pointing us to a sinless/crimeless life. For if we love God we would keep all His commandments and if we love one another genuinely it will be hard to hurt one another in anyway, be it rape or any form of abuse on another. That being said, whoever is found guilty of the law of the land will still have to face the consequences even if they receive forgiveness from God larj: |

alBHAGDADI:You don't understand the finished works of Christ either, if you did, you won't be talking like this. Jesus on earth, said, I must work the works of him that sent me... So, he was a man on a mission, with specific set of goals to fulfill. Question is, did he finish the mission, did he accomplish ALL his goals or just some? Well, he told us himself with his dying breath, IT IS FINISHED! So he fulfilled his ENTIRE mission. Part of that mission was to fulfill the laws of Moses. In fulfilling those laws, (born without sin, lived without sin and DIED AS SIN itself), he ABOLISHED the Laws of Moses. What does this mean? It means God DOESN'T VIEW SIN anymore with the lens of the laws of Moses and the prophets. God DOESN'T INTERPRET sin anymore by the decrees of these commandments. Remember, the Bible calls God a JUDGE, and if this is true, then there must be a Set of Laws for which His Judgments are based, from which he interprets and delivers judgment. Before Christ fulfilled his mission, the laws for which the Great Judge would determine his judgment for sin was the laws of Moses and the prophets. But after Jesus died and rose again, everything changed. The Bible said even the veil of separation in the temple of God, the veil that separated the holy of holies, was torn apart. This was in the natural realm, how much more the glorious things that happened in the spirit realm. But I don't want to digress into that. Before Jesus died, the disciples asked him, which is the greatest commandment? Jesus said, Love your God with all your heart, soul and mind, and to love your neighbor as yourself. After he died and rose again, before he ascended, he appeared to them and said, [NIV Matthew 28:19 - 20] 19 "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” He told his disciples to teach everyone everywhere his commandments, not the commandments of Moses and the prophets. So Jesus brought his own commandments to the table and "removed the old ones", removed because the commandments of Jesus are now the lens through which God the Judge views what is sin and what is not sin, it is the standard for which God the Judge will judge everything and everyone. What did Jesus say about the woman that committed adultery, whose case was brought before him, according to Moses' laws, she was to be stoned to death. Did Jesus judge her according to this? Nope! So stop basing your existence on the laws that have been removed from the table, from the equation of Life, because all those other laws of old will not save you but put you under the condemnation of God. Base your existence on the Laws of Christ, on the commandments of Jesus. That's all I will say. Blessed Sunday to you. |

You should do some intense research on the redemptive work of Christ because I see clearly you're quoting the old law which Jesus came to abolish and in that case you're writing against and not for the Word of God. alBHAGDADI:Reading the other part of your post I can only conclude that you are justifying sinful or criminal acts. That a lady dresses seductively in front of me doesn't give me the right to abuse her whether I have self control or not. What you call descent dressing may mean something to someone else in another region. For instance, If you're used to living in the northern part of Nigeriafor and you travel to the southern parts you may be tempted to think the girls in the south are indecent because of their way of dressing. As a Christian your life should be centered around the Word of God, everything we need to live a righteous life is in the word. We should focus our mind on pleasing Him and not get carried away by the lifestyles of others. Paul was aware of the fact that there are temptation and he advised Timothy in 2 Tim. 2:22 to flee youthful lusts: but follow righteousness... Which to me, is the best way to not justify criminality or sin. Next time you're writing a post quoting the Bible you should really leave it within the context of the living Word of God. |

Anyhow you look at it, rape has always been a capital offence. There was always death as a consequence. If not by state laws, the laws of nature itself never pitied the culprit or their generation. |

RealMrNigerD:Jungle justice has not eliminated armed robbery, so I wonder if public humiliation would do much against rape. 2. Sexual illiteracy: Society is not educating men on their sexuality. This is so wrong and we're losing the potentials of pure masculinity to this. So many wasted male human resources simply because they weren't taught how to bridle their appetite. Now the general consensus is that men today are less masculine and it's largely because of unbridled libido. Nothing takes away from the productivity and masculinity of men more than unbridled libido. Older men need to look out for our younger generation and teach them mastery of their appetites because if not, men will only grow more barbaric. Our sexual appetite can be bridled and we can have our future in our hands and not women's. Forums can be created for this online. In worst case scenarios of sexual miseducation, some young boys are actually somehow made to believe that the woman enjoys rape. Damn!. Pleasing a woman sexually and making her happy is a major joy of sex o ye men and no rapist can ever get this.I agree with this, and I believe that preventing rape by reorientation is far better than cure (public humiliation) which may do nothing to reduce rape incidents. The police must be reorientated to treat rape with the seriousness it deserves rather than making a mockery of the report of a rape victim. Police officers must be warned against asking stupid, demeaning questions that discourage rape victims from reporting rape. When a rape is reported, questions such as "You no enjoy am?" "Wetin yourself go do for him house" should never cross the lips of a police officer. 3. Govt. should make porn inaccessible as well as censorship of all this explicit movies and even social media(Instagram) "slaying". It's reorienting young males, growing their libido and causing them to be less human and productive in life.I disagree. What I think government should make inaccessible is violent porn genres, especially child pornography and rape pornography. 4. We also need to reform female fashion because it fosters the situation. Of course ladies' will never understand that having never experienced male physiology. And many also say "It's my body" but it's being brought into public space in the sight of all men. Like it or not, ladies' dressing today is contributing to irregular sexual behaviour of men and rape in particular and the annoying part is that it isn't the ladies guilty of this that may suffer. An innocent lady may end up suffering the effluence of the perverted lusts of males created by the general female behaviour. What people don't get is that it's not about the dressing of just the victim. It's actually about the dressing of every lady that feeds the lust of these perverts and building the momentum until one of the ladies falls victim when the pervert is finally fully demented.I agree with this. Women like to claim that they can wear anything they like, but that claim is nonsense. While rape is unjustifiable, indecent dressing is also unjustifiable. Our rights are not limitless. Of course, someone might bring up Islamic societies where rape is rampant but the problem with Islam is it actually supports rape and places no value on a woman or her body so rape runs free. In Jewish law however referenced in OP, it was both a crime for a woman to dress provocatively as it was for men to rape a woman. It worked. Rape is minimal there. There is no old religion that really places much value on women and their bodies. The freedom that women enjoy today was never influenced by any old religious belief. Modernization was the only actor. A good government should maintain some level of control over female fashion for our males' sakes especially for our little boys' futures.I agree. |

alBHAGDADI:There is nothing godly for killing a married woman who was raped and perceived to have consented because she did not cry out for help. In fact I don't see anything godly in killing someone for a crime like rape. The only time one deserves to be killed is if a life is taken by one's action. Human beings wrote the Bible and introduced their biases into it during epoch it was written. |
