There are alot of courses that should be exponge from our curriculum and animal sciences is part of them. The job prospect is very bleak in Nigeria except you want to be a lecturer. Come to think of it how many functioner zoo do we have in Nigeria

It's a good course. You're not just in a good country to do it. If you have business skills, you may be able to use it to your advantage by running your own farms, and providing consultancy.

The only person I know that studied that course and in one of the best federal universities is presently working in a petrol filling station as a cashier.

Animal science is a very good course.
If after graduation and you are able to get a job in Federal ministry of Agric, you will earn 104k.

I studied Animal Production &Health Science and I've never regretted it.

I studied animal science (animal production and health), FUNAAB and I'm one of the co-founders/MD of a microfinance institute at Osun state. Your course doesn't determine what would bring food to your table. Be very flexible and open yourself to many opportunities.

OP, first, take a look around you and find out who is using their "animal science" degree in their current job. Apart from a few veterinarian hospitals here and there, and some exotic animal husbandry (usually part of research), I don't think there's much demand for that stuff here. And the larger problem of course is - very few people in this country are doing what they spent all that time and money studying for...

What we really need at this stage (and you too), is to make things. Can you go into the engineering of animal husbandry products?

All courses are good if u develop yourself and versatile.

It's a very lucrative course, 3 of my siblings read that and are doing great. I wish I had studied the same course with them.

It's a very good course but u must find a university that offers both the theory and practical aspects of the course, practical is very important.
There are numerous opportunities in the course. Eg farm managers, animals scientists, inspection officials etc

Op, if you are passionate about it l, go for it. Animal science Is one course that will build you to be an entrepreneur. In my class, the majority of us knows we won't ever go job hunting. If you know your onions well, you'll never go wrong in animal science. Many of our graduate animal scientists are a living testimony to that.


Lest I forget, there are job, but trust me, you wouldn't want to take them if you've got that entrepreneurial spirit
