Rubbish, a country living on hope.

The country is imploding with violence, debt and incompetence rulers.

Osinbajo's Master Plan = Tinubu for the presidency.

Nigerians are wiser now. Cast your mind back to the last general election and look at how he handled the affairs of the nation while he was acting. It' boils down to what you have achieve. The era of sweet talking is gone. It's osinbajo for president come 2023 or nothing. Not negotiable, not debatable, not arguable, and confirm.

The VP is a very wise man that can't do all these things himself and he needs support. Now, he has mentioned something that will help the country and we all still criticize him? He has great ideas and I believe in him.

National debate won't change anything because the people debating are still those benefiting from the thieving govt. Nigeria should be resolved and everyone should go their way. No matter what you do, as far as everything still goes to Abuja and from there go back to the states, Nigeria can never grow.

If we want to really make head way in this our God forsaken country.

We have to start from our bogus military-like constitution and ensure that we have a central database and go digital in all our operations most especially our election processes.

Scrap federal character and quota systems.
Scrap state of origin, ethnicity and religion from our constitution.

Invest massively in our educational systems, both formal and informal. Make primary and secondary schools free and compulsory.

Invest in electricity and health care industry.

Put the right persons in the right job no where he or she comes from.

The judiciary too must up their games and ensure that justice is done without delay.

Decentralize power and make the states and local government source fund independently.

Chai, they know all these but greed and selfishness won't allow them.
We keep moving in circles and keep blaming each other.

Una good morning oh!!!!

Stop this your emotional blackmail.

You ended up preaching for one Nigeria that has never worked and will never do.
Language/religion are major factors when it comes to economic development.
Nigeria as a country is lacking on these factors and will never grow more than where it is.

All we need to do to retain the name Nigeria is to structure the way united Kingdom is and not the said restructuring you suggested above. That will still fail unless you restructure along tribes which the unity beggars (hausa/Fulani and youroba) will oppose.
Let's have igbo, youroba, itshekiri, urohbo, tiv, idoma, Ijaw, ibibio, ogoja, and other nations and those that wish to merge should be allowed.

At first, they told us we needed a Sovereign National conference.

At some point, constitutional amendment.

Then GEJ held a National Conference, after which his government courageously allowed a little progressive change in the electoral system, and as a result of that change, lost power to them.

They then ridiculed the National Conference to no end. They threw away the outcome of the conference, stated that Nigeria is okay as currently structured. That our only problem is corruption. That PDP's misrule for 16 years was our worst mistake.
They said we do not need restructuring, that State Police is unnecessary. That our Police is enough.
They defended Baba's 97%/5% policy. They made appointments dependent on what tribe's genes you carry. That merit doesn't matter when the President loves Nigeria, is well-intentioned, and is fighting corruption.
At a point, an independent legislature became the scapegoat for our national problems. Because Baba needs the support of everyone in government. Dissenting views aren't welcome.

Today, Baba owns the legislature. Yet, for some reason, these legislators are still the problem, because they won't vote themselves out of existence.

Now that it's clear that nothing is working, what do they tell us? That we need a NATIONAL DEBATE.

Back to square one. National Conference Debate.

Please, how did they convince anyone that they'll be good for Nigeria?

We don talk taya.
The same man said restructuring was unnecessary. Typically 'Gowonesque' he said that the problem of Nigeria was the allocation or mis-allocation of resources aka, how to spend the money.
Today there is no more money to spend, so he has changed tune and wants to talk.... and we claim these folks are brilliant and competent.

We have had national gatherings with different names, the latest being the 2014. Have you seen the recommendations of those debates, or because they were not called debates.

Dear, the problem is not policies but lack of sincere national mind to implement them. What can you say about the federal character act that has been flouted even with all the shouting and the implementers cares not?

Birth rate should be massively controlled or massive shift to manufacturing, especially in third world countries. Nigeria is heading for the rocks if we dont make a change..

I dont want to sound like an doomsayer, but a world war maybe looming and only a massive depopulation of the world would balance out life. Maybe the reason for the (covid 19)...

Before the advent of AI(Artificial intelligence), countries must go to lesser countries to setup factories and companies to earn more while employing, developing and training the lesser countries in return.. (The Manufacturing era 1980 to 2000)

With the Advent of technology, they no longer need to come down, develop and train... they can earn and drain your forex directly with a single app. (App development 2000 till date), seeing that these lesser countries are no longer beneficial, borders would be closed and point based immigration would be employed to seive out those who can help it. (US, Canada, UK, Australia)

Verdict:... resources of developing nations would be drained so bad with very serious unemployment using introduced technology from developed worlds, they would run into massive debt (Africa, india, Sri Lanka, venezuela) to an eventual take over, there would be serious revolt from developing nations due to the renewed slave mentality from developed nations (china / American domination and racism on blacks) that would trigger a world war which would massively reduce population to bring about a balance again, or a pandemic to wipe off quarter of the human race...

Pakistan operate the same system, the Senate and house of assembly, our population are in tier.
We both have insurgencies. They even fought civil war.

Our top military officers are usually sent to Pakistan for study always( don't know if it still happen in this Buhari regime), their economy started like ours. Even economic lecturer don't leave them behind anytime they want to compare economy or population.

Don't you think separation is the best way to go? Have you ever thought of leadership war that will arise even within each region? My guy, I strongly believe one Nigeria will still work.
.

The leadership war will arise only in niger delta and south west. But that's should be your headache.
After separation, nothing concerns you with their leadership crisis.

Stop begging for unity. Nigeria will never work.
Igbo man is an igbo man just like youroba man is a youroba man. Nothing will change that.
Let's go our separate way like Pakistan and Indian, Ethiopia and Eritrea, Serbia and Montenegro, USSR, etc.
Why do you want one Nigeria to continue? Won't you be better after separation?
Definitely, nations that will emerge from Nigeria will develop faster.

you see how you fall flat!
you cannot pay nigerians minimum 30,000 wage, you pay government workers millions. there's no sense or logic in this.

and what revenues are they generating for govt? firs gets money from us citizens. na revenue be that?
petroleum resources supervise oil industry. so they are dashing us free money?
make sense! maybe you have a cousin working for them

SmartPolician:

This is false

Ministry of petroleum is the richest ministry in Nigeria followed by the FIRS

Even workers in privately owned oil companies are paid better than their counterparts in state-run oil companies in Nigeria.

I am not saying what I think - these are facts I got independently from an insider

There are lots of agencies that do not generate revenue for the government

Those could be the people the government borrows to pay

After all the money spent on the study tourism, Nigeria still remains a shithole. And a big joke to add to it.

The point is, why can't this country do something differently?

Copy something from those countries; then modify it to suit your peopleS, to be sustenable, and feasible

The truth is, system of government is someone's or some people's ideas. So, it can be modified to suit the country without copying everything in toto

Name just one country where legislatures recieve the type of bogus salaries and renumerations they pay their Nigerian counterparts?

Size is different from efficiency. The military ruled this same size with provisional ruling council that consists of few officers, why can't we cut down the legislature?

This talk talk and no action is the reason why Nnamdi kanu and his followers want out of this contraption.

I disagree. Cutting down the size of the Legislature is watering down democracy and gifting more power to the Executive with potentially disastrous consequences. Size is not the problem, funding is. To correct the problem of funding you have to look at it fundamentally and ask yourself what the function of the Legislature is.

They are law makers who act on the direct instructions of their constituents to better their lives through the instrument of corporate agreements. They aggregate the desires and wishes of small groups of people, such small groups that fall through the cracks of Executive power. Legislators are essentially emissaries or ambassadors of small groups of people or comunities at the centre. A working Legislature thus negates the need fir other establishments such as the Governors Forum which doesn't exist in proper federations.

If the ambassador of Nigeria to the United States or France or the United Nations is empowered, funded, supported by Nigeria and not the United States, France or the United Nations for obvious reasons then why should a Senator or Representative of the people of Ahoada West or Epe or Jos South be funded by the very people it is likely going to challenge in debates on behalf of the people.

Yes they are called Federal Lawmakers but position and responsibilities are not the same thing. It is the person who sends a message that bears the cost not the recepient. The constituents and senatorial zones should bear the cost of representation. The Nigerian citizen, not government should fund the Legislature directly through dedicated levies abd taxes. The citizens should control wages and entitlements. Only by dictating the pipers tube will they get value for money.

This VP I always wonder where he keeps his church mind.
National debate? What happened to the confab report during GEJ? Cant he sit down and study it? His biased and political mind is affecting him.
Another millions or billions willl be spent on a debate and nothing will come out of it. It will be shelved. Waste of funds and corruption in disguise.
VP fear God.
