sulaak: Nigerians are wiser now. Cast your mind back to the last general election and look at how he handled the affairs of the nation while he was acting. It' boils down to what you have achieve. The era of sweet talking is gone. It's osinbajo for president come 2023 or nothing. Not negotiable, not debatable, not arguable, and confirm. |

The VP is a very wise man that can't do all these things himself and he needs support. Now, he has mentioned something that will help the country and we all still criticize him? He has great ideas and I believe in him. 1 Like |

National debate won't change anything because the people debating are still those benefiting from the thieving govt. Nigeria should be resolved and everyone should go their way. No matter what you do, as far as everything still goes to Abuja and from there go back to the states, Nigeria can never grow. 1 Like |

stainchris: Stop this your emotional blackmail. You ended up preaching for one Nigeria that has never worked and will never do. Language/religion are major factors when it comes to economic development. Nigeria as a country is lacking on these factors and will never grow more than where it is. All we need to do to retain the name Nigeria is to structure the way united Kingdom is and not the said restructuring you suggested above. That will still fail unless you restructure along tribes which the unity beggars (hausa/Fulani and youroba) will oppose. Let's have igbo, youroba, itshekiri, urohbo, tiv, idoma, Ijaw, ibibio, ogoja, and other nations and those that wish to merge should be allowed. 1 Like |

Mordecai: We don talk taya. The same man said restructuring was unnecessary. Typically 'Gowonesque' he said that the problem of Nigeria was the allocation or mis-allocation of resources aka, how to spend the money. Today there is no more money to spend, so he has changed tune and wants to talk.... and we claim these folks are brilliant and competent. 3 Likes |

TheRareGem1: We have had national gatherings with different names, the latest being the 2014. Have you seen the recommendations of those debates, or because they were not called debates. Dear, the problem is not policies but lack of sincere national mind to implement them. What can you say about the federal character act that has been flouted even with all the shouting and the implementers cares not? |
Re: Osinbajo: Nigeria Runs An Expensive Government, There’s Need For National Debate by sulaak(m): 7:57am On Jun 20, 2020 |
TheRareGem1: You are out of your mind, Osinbajo is weak and irrelevant, he can't preside over the toilet in his house. If the Yoruba's are serious they should sit down with the Igbo's and identify a true leader that can lead the country out of the morass of poverty, violence and ignorance. |

SmartPolician: Exactly why I said Pakistan. Pakistan operate the same system, the Senate and house of assembly, our population are in tier. We both have insurgencies. They even fought civil war. Our top military officers are usually sent to Pakistan for study always( don't know if it still happen in this Buhari regime), their economy started like ours. Even economic lecturer don't leave them behind anytime they want to compare economy or population. |

Deputy1111:. The leadership war will arise only in niger delta and south west. But that's should be your headache. After separation, nothing concerns you with their leadership crisis. Stop begging for unity. Nigeria will never work. Igbo man is an igbo man just like youroba man is a youroba man. Nothing will change that. Let's go our separate way like Pakistan and Indian, Ethiopia and Eritrea, Serbia and Montenegro, USSR, etc. Why do you want one Nigeria to continue? Won't you be better after separation? Definitely, nations that will emerge from Nigeria will develop faster. 3 Likes |

sassysure: After all the money spent on the study tourism, Nigeria still remains a shithole. And a big joke to add to it. The point is, why can't this country do something differently? Copy something from those countries; then modify it to suit your peopleS, to be sustenable, and feasible The truth is, system of government is someone's or some people's ideas. So, it can be modified to suit the country without copying everything in toto |

Commonsense99: I disagree. Cutting down the size of the Legislature is watering down democracy and gifting more power to the Executive with potentially disastrous consequences. Size is not the problem, funding is. To correct the problem of funding you have to look at it fundamentally and ask yourself what the function of the Legislature is. They are law makers who act on the direct instructions of their constituents to better their lives through the instrument of corporate agreements. They aggregate the desires and wishes of small groups of people, such small groups that fall through the cracks of Executive power. Legislators are essentially emissaries or ambassadors of small groups of people or comunities at the centre. A working Legislature thus negates the need fir other establishments such as the Governors Forum which doesn't exist in proper federations. If the ambassador of Nigeria to the United States or France or the United Nations is empowered, funded, supported by Nigeria and not the United States, France or the United Nations for obvious reasons then why should a Senator or Representative of the people of Ahoada West or Epe or Jos South be funded by the very people it is likely going to challenge in debates on behalf of the people. Yes they are called Federal Lawmakers but position and responsibilities are not the same thing. It is the person who sends a message that bears the cost not the recepient. The constituents and senatorial zones should bear the cost of representation. The Nigerian citizen, not government should fund the Legislature directly through dedicated levies abd taxes. The citizens should control wages and entitlements. Only by dictating the pipers tube will they get value for money. |

This VP I always wonder where he keeps his church mind. National debate? What happened to the confab report during GEJ? Cant he sit down and study it? His biased and political mind is affecting him. Another millions or billions willl be spent on a debate and nothing will come out of it. It will be shelved. Waste of funds and corruption in disguise. VP fear God. |
