you may have heard of it in movies. But do you really know what it is?

Herpes simplex or HSV for short is a virus. It is communicable and spreads easily. Very generous.

We have two main types of herpes. HSV - 1 & HSV - 2.

HSV - 1 spreads through ora- oral contact through cuts and sores on the around the mouth and saliva, so yes kissing , and sharing of instruments that come in contact with saliva(e.g unwashed spoon, toothbrush) is a culprit. Another way to spread it is oral- genital contact, in simple english ehn, by giving head aka, mouthaction. It is responsible for the cold sores that occurs around the mouth which we call oral herpes. Children can get it too.

HSV -2 on the other hand is transmitted curtesy of 'Konji' and its sequelae, all the styles in pornhub and kamasutra, especially if there are sores/cuts(from shaving) or sexual contact without a condom. It is what is responsible for genital herpes.

Ladies are more likely to have HSV - 2 because of the way our local government was designed, to collect all manner of things good and bad from men! It is well.

The virus has no cure, it is more faithful than some spouses. Once you have it, it's for life. But it is not an all year thing. It occurs, goes into hibernation then rears its ugly head when the immunity is a little lower than usual (e.g after a little malaria) just like when judas betrayed jesus.

That doesn't sound so bad right? Wrong, those mouthsores or genital sores can be point of entry for other nasties such as HIV, it can also be transmitted from a pregnant woman to her unborn child which can become severe.



Is there a way to prevent this? Kinda.

Practice safe sex with a single faithful patner(both of you have gone for testing in a hospital and have been deemed safe).

Wear a condom!! Duh. A stranger telling you that she's on the pill will not cut it this time. I repeat, WEAR RAINCOAT.

Don't go for your D appointment on the same day you shave if you get nicks and cuts easily

If you see any kinda boil, rash or crawcraw. ABORT MISSION!!


Avoid giving head in any form(fel|atio or cunnilingus) or as the nairaland bots like to call it, MOUTHACTION to someone whose sexual status is generally a mystery to you. Orgies are also questionable.

Aviod sharing objects, especially those that come in contact with saliva.

Yes and No.

You can walk into any hospital and get tested for herpes(might be hard).

You could also talk with your doctor (e.g ME, through the link in my signature) especially if you have an active episode. He/she would prescibe something that would reduce your suffering and send it back into hiding as fast as possible.

If you are pregnant, speak with your doctor about your options to aviod stories that touch.

I've had this thing since like 5... but it comes like once or twice a year. now I don't know what's happening, it's now more frequent, got to know it's herpes this year and I don't know what to do. it can be a bit embarrassing. I'm 24 now

funmisticqueen2 You didnt talk about HPV, its more commonly distributed but it hibernates too like corona and hsv. while working in an hospital, it was there I saw beauty or handsomeness as nothing, a lot of beautiful girls carry infections due to greed and exploration.
