H1B jobs till the end of this year is about 250,000. So far Americans have lost 30 million jobs. So how is this number significant if not for his unnecessary propaganda.

The 250,000 figure is calculated with the total number of jobs taken in 2019 by H1B divided by 2. But this year won't even be up to 250,000 Because employers would want to prioritize US citizens.

So I really don't see the economic and patriotic importance of this rule.

You can't see it because you're not a politician and one of those advising Trump, but I can tell you the President and his team have their reasons this decision was made. Even if it is 100K jobs, it is something to politicians. It matters to them when earning public trust and playing politics determines their political future.
That is how I see it.

Our argument does not influence anything, but I’m not sure you get the idea when people say the restriction will harm the country’s economy in the long run.

The sectors that hire H1b the most are not laying people off right now. As a matter of fact, the systems (technology) that America economy has fallen back on in the last couple of months as a result of lockdown were built by companies that are currently run by people that were either on H1b or still on H1b. Think about Amazon, Google, Facebook, Netflix, Uber, etc.

When you read about millions of people losing their job, these are jobs that people on H1b will never get.

Nobody on H1b would be allowed to work as a waiter or store attendant. Maybe J1, which further reduces the impact of the restriction to a negligible number.

But in the end, our opinion does not matter; if Nigeria was half as good as America, we most probably won’t be having this conversation.

Sure, I get your point. Talking about it doesn't change anything. The whole conversation about it is just for the sake of having discussion because, somehow, some people here will need H1B in the future. I know there's economic disadvantage to the ban. I have taken short courses on policy-making. Politics is very mad. Policies, in every political arena, are like two edge-sword, it will hurt some people and soothe others--even if there is a potential damage to the American economy in the future. As there are Americans who are against the Mexican border wall, there are Americans who want it erected. It is always like that.

As we talk, there are Americans who love the temporary ban on H1B (This is similar to a situation in Nigeria when some Nigerians ganged up against Indians and British leaders at a Distillery in Ogun State, even though they know Nigerians who may take over may not be able to perform well. Today, all the Ogas for the company na Nigerians).
And you know politicians, they want to make political scores when election is coming. At the end of the day, they will live with it whatever consequences ensue. It is their country. There's nothing we can do about it.

Una don start with all these back and forth abi?

As usual, the orange face is only pulling stunts to please a base that are mostly non-college graduates.

Please o, maybe there is something I don't understand, who is applying for H1B between now and January? Maybe the other categories will be affected but I doubt it will have any impact.

Most H1B jobs can not be performed by Americans, do you guys think any American company would choose an Indian with a heavy accent over a citizen? The me me me old fool has once again given companies another reason the move more jobs abroad.

The US is not a country, it is a business. COVID19 has taught us that working from home is both effective and efficient. Companies will not allow their talent needs to be jeopardized by selfish interest, expect more jobs to move to India, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, etc.

Everything is uncertain as it is. The US embassy might decide to reopen anytime and might even reopen just in time for Fall 2020 resumption.

but in any event that they don't, can I still make use of the same form i-20 for a spring deferral?

You'll need a new one. Hopefully email issued I-20 will still be valid by then.

On which website did you see November as the "nearest interview date"? Please share. On the ustraveldocs website I'm still getting "no dates available". I also emailed them today and they said they're not yet processing student visas.

Yes it is. The DHS asked schools to send the I-20’s through email to admitted international students because of the covid-19 and problems that may be associated with receiving it through express mail because of flight restrictions.

So yes, one can use the email copy to go for a visa interview.

Yes I heard DHS approved dispatch of I-20 via email if the hard copy can't be sent.

Simple!!

Mail the department he/she applied to and ask about the status of the application. The grad cord will be in the best position to answer this question.

Hello Everyone. I don't know if this information will be useful to anyone. I am currently enrolled for a Masters program at Lamar University Beaumont and I got tuition waiver and scholarship on arrival in the US which is about 50% off my tuition fees. I also got accepted for graduate assistantship. The school is much more affordable than most of the schools I see on this platform. Please Dm me if you are interested in the school.

Hello everyone,

Been following this thread for a while and it has been immensely helpful. I have some few questions though.

For someone who got their F1 visa delayed last year for no clear reason although has the 214B paper issued and is re-applying, what's the best explanation for the "have you been denied" question while filling the DS-160.

Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by kastgeraldino: 8:21am On Jun 24, 2020
Some said they did in abuja. But with cases rebounding to March levels and the curve almost at the level of the initial stage, everyone should forget about any resumption this year. I stay in abuja, and I can't even be bothered to check for anything or even pay the visa fee. The sad thing is still staying in my job beyond the fall.

Yes. However, the Consular officer did not specifically state the reason for my refusal.
Yes, I was not told the reason for the refusal.
Yes, the consular may have refused my visa application because I could not convince him/her that I'm a credible student.

These are just sample. What do you think might have caused your refusal during the interview? Think about it, and craft a short 1 or 2 sentences in the box available for answer. Your response will NOT be used against you during the next interview.

But prepare for your next interview, whether it will be next month, in December or next year. Look at the responses you gave during the interview and see how to strengthen them for a positive outcome next time.
Best of luck.
