Good morning house. Been awhile. Please mums who are currently in Houston, have you been able to get US passport for baby? I have a friend who gave birth in March in Houston. She has gotten birth certificate, submitted application for US passport through post office but the passport is not ready till now. When she calls, they say they are only processing passport for emergency cases (travel for family member death or injury) and as such her minor's passport does not qualify for emergency so she should be patient.

She really wants to come back home.

Any advice on what she can do? Is there anything like emergency travel document to use in place of a US passport?

Please help.

If you are interested in going home please see below FYI

Dear Prospective Evacuee,

For any who have not registered, please do so as soon as possible.

To register, pls send in the following to cgnny@nigeriahouse.com

- Data page of valid Nigerian passport
- Copy of visa
- Copy of Return ticket (if any)
- Current location (City and State)

As long as all required is sent in, you will be duly registered and thereby be in good standing for any subsequent Evacuation flight and will be notified immediately there is any important development in this regard.

If an Emergency Travel Certificate (ETC) is required for an infant without a Nigerian passport, or for an adult whose passport is either lost or expired, please visit our website - www.nigeriahouse.com. click on 'Consular Services', then click on 'other' in the drop-down menu and follow the instructions to apply for an ETC, indicating your wish to be on the next Evacuation flight. This will enable our officials to issue the ETC with dates corresponding with any next Evacuation flight.

In the meantime, please be patient and stay safe.❤

We need a lot of people in order for a 3rd evacuation flight to be arranged by the embassy ASAP

i understand the ETC applies for the nigerian end, what of the american end, since the babys US passport isnt out yet, would the baby be allowed to board the flight with birth certificate only?.

No U.S. citizen can use a birth certificate as identification to travel internationally by air, although the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) may accept a birth certificate as a secondary identification document for domestic air travel. It is important to note that a valid passport book is the only document accepted as proof of identity for international air travel, no matter where one is flying to or from.

pls, dont read and pass

Just to mention. If you are using the evacuation flight, you will be allowed to board the flight with just the birth certificate and an Emergency Travel Certificate issued by the Nigerian Embassy.

I have replied you check your mail, as a 3ed flight has been confirmed and leaving on the 17th of july it is getting filled fast. Even if you want to join the next flight it is better you start now too because another flight can only be arranged if you guys are many.

If I were you I would concentrate in getting to Nigeria first since your husband is not here and for now they are not treating expedited cases at passport agencies. So us ETC to take baby home, when you get to Nigeria you do both passports for baby.

You can only renew ur childs passport in Nigeria... Passport cannot be issued for the firt time to a minor in Nigeria, I had a friend who experienced this in 2015... Just to be sure check the Embassy website for Nigeria and see what they say...
