In terms of Academics right? Because i think UI and OAU beats them in terms of structure.
yae academics .Ui can be compared with UNN but structure wise oau and Ui still beats UNN.. if UNN could complete most of their abandoned structures, it will be among top 3 when it comes to structures.. Too many abandoned projects both in Nsukka campus and Enugu campus..There was a time, a news came out that UNN is the University with the highest number of abandoned projects..

You said what, I take it that you're joking?
Look for the thread where a Ghanian posted about his alma mater, the university of Ghana.

I'm not gonna join some ignorant folks that abuse UNN and their Enugu campus for not having the kind of structures comparable to a university like say ABU Zaria! These two universities were taken over by the federal gov't since around the 70s to date, so you're free to reach your own conclusions as to why they both didn't experience similar investments in infrastructure!

UNN is managing well with the cards they've been dealt....though i reckon they could do more by way of landscaping! At the end of the day, a university is judged mainly on the human resources it nurtures, trains and sends out to the world, and in this regard UNN is among the top two in the country!
This was what I told some persons but they were arguing blindly

Nigerian wahala is too much. There basically nothing government has managed well. I somehow believe public schools is for less privileged in society be it Primary, Secondary or tertiary.

Northern Africa and sub Saharan Africa

It actually changes from the year to year. But yes, UNN should be better based on the money being given to it. But Academically, it's still top notch. It's just the structure that's not up to par with some universities.

When you say academically, I don't even know what you mean. Nothing is topnotch in the Nigerian academic space and UNN with its dilapidated buildings is not even a thing in that regard, if we were to come locally.

What makes a good school is infrastructure which include power, conducive learning environment, conducive hostels, equipped laboratories, etc.

If you find any product of UNN doing fine, like the product of any other school can, it's not because the rotten school produced him, it's because he did himself a huge favour to improve. That's not peculiar to UNN but almost all Nigerian universities.

Singing how good UNN is in a shallow attempt to divert attention from how rotten and irritating the walls are is just another reason we need exposure and better education. I mean, no one should try to subdue the rot going on there.

And if you must know, CU, UI and UNILAG are the only Nigerian schools in top 1000 in the world in reputable THE ranking and only UI in reputable ARWU ranking. The rest are a bunch of junks paraded as rankings.

I simply said that there's no need for him to go as far as South Africa which is considered by many as a developed country. That in Ghana here there are schools that are better than Nigerian universities.

but seriously south africa is performing far below expectation....
With that level of infrastructures in their country, they should be competing with likes of south korea....
I understand the blacks had only been in power for 24 years but I believe they can do better....
I was shocked when I read the gdp per capita of south africa is 6,000 dollars...thats way too low for the most developed economy in africa.

compete with them in terms of what The only university in the West that can complete with UNN should be UI..the rest can not raise a candle where UNN is

Compete with them in terms of what?
1. Infrastructure: The eyesore of a video portrayed as UNN, Enugu campus (hopefully, it's not the main campus) shouldn't be compared to most state schools across the country, not to talk of UNILAG, CU, UI, ABU, FUNAAB or OAU. Please, this is not about tribe so if you're trying to make it so, don't bother replying me. If you need further enlightenment on how UNILAG along beats UNN in terms of stable power, conducive air-conditioned classrooms and libraries, free internet almost everywhere, working CCTV surveillance camera everywhere, maintenance culture and all, please, be my guest.

Academics: Only CU, UI and UNILAG are on top 1000 universities in the world according to reputable THE ranking and only UI make it to the reputable ARWU ranking. If you'll get schooled on the criteria which include student/lecturer ratio, percentage of international students, international outlook and all, be humble to ask. And please, don't bring up a portion of one web metric system which ranks UNN well on citations and badly on other indices. Whatever that is though.

If you have any other ranking index for the dick-measuring contest, state it and you would be disappointed how terribly bad UNN has sunk.

UNN is one of the best schools in Nigeria.

If You are looking for an institution with mordern structures, I don't think UNN or any of it's Campuses, is d best place for it.
..

The kind of structures there, were built in the 50's....when many of us were not even born...
..

The school helps us to know the kind of structures that trended in the early 50's and 60's......
...

it's not the structures that matters, it's the kind of training and education offered there that matters..
...
I have the opportunity to visit this institution once..... One of the best
