You don’t know the meaning, more reason you should keep quiet- but that isn’t your forte. You rather tear your clothes as if someone is dragging the origin of your OFE AKWU with you. Hian! grin
You are not dragging any origin but encouraging ignorance.

What you call Banga soup and off akwu have different methods and taste entirely.

Nobody cooks soup by talking and discussing but on practical purposes.

Amazing looking food. It is making me hungry to levels you can’t imagine. And I just had some fruit (pineapple) which tends to me hungry... cry
I would make my ofe akwu the same way, but from experience I discovered that stockfish makes it taste less than perfect so I would omit it (I don’t know why it tastes a lot better without okporoko to me).
Will you try not adding the stockfish and give your verdict? I want to know if it’s just my taste buds doing that?
I would imprison anyone who adds tomatoes to ofe akwu if I could. Or seize their cookers.
If you lived in Enugu the way I would beg you to let me have some of this would baffle you.
Maybe I should go and find something to eat. I have cashew nuts and avocado. At least it’s still food cry
I have cooked without stockfish, I really can’t pick out any dis/advantage to it. I would always throw in the okporoko and dry fish, not very much though and I like. In fact, thinking of it now, it tastes bland to me without the stockfish and dry fish.

The people that use tomatoes, at what point do they add it? Do they slice or blend it?

Oh, no wonder. Now it adds up. I noticed the typical supremacist mindset typical in people from that section.

Correct and authentic ingredients. I’ve found scent leaf here but it’s never fresh and doesn’t give the same authentic taste as when it’s fresh.

Nchanwu is a leaf that should never be caught unfresh. Just a night and it begins to wither. Ukazi and bitter leaf can survive anything.

You are correct. Ofeakwu is never banga soup. We call it in Anambra ofeakwu rice or ofeakwu stew because it's only eaten with rice.

I will suggest when you introduce these dishes you should also give credit to the originators of the food. Before people start claiming things they didn't invent. The reason why we adviced you to call it what the people who made it call it is because we dont want to hear tales by the moonlight of how Uhrobo taught us how to cook "banga" soup. I want everyone to remember that ofe ora, onugbu, nsala , isiewu , Nkwobi , ofe akwu, nni oka na ogbono, ji awii are all food indigenous to Anambra.

Tomatoes enhances the taste
Tomatoes in ofe akwu is an insult to the igbo ofe akwu recipe.

All this new generation cooks self.

Use dried cat fish instead. It'll taste better with that.
