Talking about eradicating cultism...
that is the best thing. But let's say the truth, expecting cultism to be totally eradicated is unrealistic. It is not achievable.
Why, three reasons:
1. They operate secretly.
2. Many of their members have graduated and they have mingled with every aspect of the society you can think of.
3. Not all cultists were forced to join. Some joined voluntarily.
If you are not realistic in your assessment of a problem, solving it will be a mirage.
So, the most achievable objective, methinks, is to manage them, and curtail the bad elements of it. This may be tasking, but it is achievable if the authorities want to.
Suggested solution to the cult menace?
The school authorities and the government should work together to enforce the following:
1. For any fraternity to operate in any higher institution, it must be registered with the government, and with the school management.
2. No forced initiation.
3. No midnight operations and activities.
4. No secrecy.
5. No torture, rape or any form of violence during initiation.
6. Group's activities should be open to scrutiny by authorities.
7. Members should be free to renounce, without any threat or intimidation.
8. No drugs.
9. No weapons.
10. Disagreement with anybody should be reported to the authorities. No jungle justice.
11. No torture, rape, molestation, or extortion of members as punishment.
12. Members should be free to report any member who tries to oppress them.
I think the above will settle the major problems caused by cultism which are - oppression, enslavement of members, introduction to vices, killings and destruction of destinies.
But for it to work, the government and the school authorities have to be serious about it. Because the problem thrives on the faulty system. I believe the poor standard of admission and facilities greatly provide ground for violent cultism. Imagine, admitting thousands of students without provision of acomodation. The host towns become overpopulated with exhorberant youths. With little presence of authority figures, the strong oppress the weak, leading to formation of bad gangs by those oppressed and those who want to oppress others.
So the roles of the government and school authorities in this include:
1. Provision of hostel facilities within the school campus for students.
2. Strict admission policies.
3. Schools should stop admitting too many students.
4. Most of our higher institutions are too big in size. There are too many forests for evil activities. We should reduce the sizes.
5. Enforcement of the 12 suggestions above.
I went to this length to write this because we don't know the influencial people who may be reading this.
But whether these are done or not, still;
AVOID CULTISM. No good in it.

I like the suggestions pouring in. Lets keep the energy pls. However, I differ with the idea that cultism can not be eradicated. The task might seem daunting but we must face it squarely as an individual, society & government.
If the people who fought for the abolishment of slave trade decided to manage it, you would probably be on a plantation in North Carolina planting cotton.
You dont manage a disease that has a cure. You can not manage a menace like cultism, lets not kid ourselves. If anyone could, Prof. & Rica would have done so, Felix Rupa would have done it.
The way to defeat the evil called cultism is to cut its head off. You want to manage cultism in tertiary institutions as per professional course or what? Cultism has no place in a progressive society.
Can you propose that idea to owners of Nile Uni, Covenant or ABTI? To manage & accomodate cultism in their billion naira investment?

Gbamsomely stated. I stand with you on this. No good can ever come from cultism or confraternities in Nigeria. The very foundations on which they were formed and on which they stand is evil and diabolic and nothing good can come out of it. They've poisoned and perverted and warped our collective minds and values. They've seared our souls and calloused our hearts. They've mainstreamed wickedness and meanness. They've distracted, divided and destroyed 3 generations of Nigerians and we are still counting. Brothers killing brothers, Africans killing Africans, blacks killing blacks. Tufia! There is something I have been noticing since 2013 about girls I believe to be members of a particular cult, they have this burn/injury like it's okada exhaust burn on their right leg,but I know there is more to that burn on the back of their right legs and those I see with such injuries always appear razz,slutty, fearless or have something they actually put mind.The boldness in their speech,the vulgar words coming from their mouth etc. They are mostly undergraduate students.

Cultist like to say "Who no go, no know" but a lot of them dont know much about the history of their society, they only know about the lingos, drilling & hits.
Let me talk about NBM for instance. NBM was created by 10 founders but their history says 9 because the others killed the missing one - Charles Kokoma for betrayal - BKB. It is suspected that he helped brew the first NBM rum - NBM drink is called Kokoma.
NBM drilling is called Janetting. Janet was the gf of one of the founders, she betrayed NBM & died when she was being drilled, I suspect she was Charles' gf.

Let me talk about NBM for instance. NBM was created by 10 founders but their history says 9 because the others killed the missing one - Charles Kokoma for betrayal - BKB. It is suspected that he helped brew the first NBM rum - NBM drink is called Kokoma.
