"So you came to report our son to us?we should flog him for flirting outside because he married a barren woman"Mrs Lawson replied recklessly.
"Is that all you have to say mama"Clara cried.
"Yes.I told you before that my son needs to give us grandchildren.Since you cant give us,he can try other ones outside"Mrs Lawson replied.
Derek father who was a good man scolded his wife for using such words on Clara,he also promised to talk to his son to change and wait for God time
"You will give birth in due time"he consoled

CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR
Clara drove straight home after dropping Tonye off at the airport where he will return to Canada.He had spent five weeks with her and made sure Clara never engaged in physical combat with Derek.Though she did not tell Tonye that she had hired thugs who made sure they beat Nmachi to a pulp even to the point of death.She was sure Derek knew about it but decided not to confront her about it.
She was driving her tinted SUV to avoid recognition.She soon slided into her compound and parked,her phone rang.She picked up the receiver after confirming it was their private doctor.
"Hello Dr.Frank"she said.
"Hello Mrs Clara Lawson,come over to my hospital.You have an emergency"the caller said in hushed but unsettled tone.Clara read the droop on his voice.
"Which of them..."She asked petulantly and slided the car key into the keyhole.
"The branch at Magodo phase one"The caller pissed and hung up.
Clara reversed the car out of the compound after ordering the gateman to open the gate.She sped off.

The ride from Banana island to magodo was a fourty-four minutes ride.She parked at the park of the porshe hospital"LIFE STREAM CLINICS" and ran all the way to the doctor's office.she met him at the door of his office so he led her to the theatre and there she saw Derek lying on life support.
"Derek"she screamed and came closer to the bed.he was almost lifeless.All the grudge she had against him melted away at this grotesque of his.She turned to the doctor.
"Dr.Frank,how did it happen"she asked and sat on the bed beside Derek.
"His manager brought him here two days ago"
"What!two what!but no one told me about it.I thought he was out for his last tribute show since he will be retiring from music next year when he will be fourty"Clara replied.
"Its a sad news;he might not survive this heart attack"Dr Frank said.
"Heart attack you say!My God.Derek never told me he is a heart attack patient"
"But he is.I have been treating him for seven years now"
"What!precisely our marriage year.he hide it from me"

"I am sorry he did not but right now,i called you here to inform you that i will be transferring him to a hospital at Saudi Arabia"Dr Frank said.
Clara lost her voice immediately so she only nodded.
"I have contacted the embassy and every necessary requirement will be prepared because we will be using his private jet"Dr Frank said.
Derek hid a lot from her and was sure many more will be uncovered.He hid her abortion result and health status,so he had a private jet but why is he hiding it from her?
she managed to clean the tears gathering in her eyes.
"Be strong madam,he will be fine"Dr frank said and made to leave.
"When are you transferring him"she managed to ask after finding her voice.
"A day after tomorrow"he replied and left,closing the door after him.

As soon as she got into her bedroom,she plied out her phone and caled Tonye.
She told him everything that had transpired in the hospital.
"But why will Derek be treating me this way"she cried on the phone.
"Its okay mum.All is well".

"Tonye,how will all be well when i am in silent"
"God is working it out,he will give you a second chance if you turn to him"Tonye said.
"Tonye will God forgive me"Clara asked as she let the tears flow.Tears had been her food for sometimes now.Indeed a life outside Christ is full of crises.
"Lord hear my humble cry
Save my soul from sinking
Though i fled from thy sight
Away from thy sight

-Tonye voice was melodious,his voice penetrated her marrows and she listened to the inner voice which Tonye song had zeroed into her mind.A cool breeze flushed past her and she felt calmness.The tears flowed like a pump whose control pad got spoilt.It was uncontrollable that she found out she had soaked her clothes.
"Mum,why not you return back to Christ now.He is waiting for you.Good night"Tonye concluded and hung up

CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE
Clara wept that night until a call came in.it was Dr.Frank.What was it all about this time.She hurriedly picked up the receiver.
"Hello madam.We lost him six minutes ago"The caller said.
"What!How?Why?When?"Clara whimped.
"Madam,if you can come over please do because we will be depositing him at the morgue"the line went dead.
Clara screamed and some of their house help rushed into the room.
She quickly took her car key and ran out of the room.She was opening the car when one of the driver collected the key from her and volunteered to drive.It was already mid-night so the drive to magodo was about twenty minutes.She rushed to Derek private ward and saw he was already covered with a white cloth.
It took the intervention of some hospital staffs and Dr.Frank to drag her out of the room.She was destroying everything her hand could reach.
When she had settled down,she called Tonye who told her he will be boarding the next flight back home.
She called all her brothers to inform them.

The next day,their mansion were filled with symphatisers.Renowned musicians,government officials and fans trooped into the mansion.
In Clara's room,clara sat on the floor,beside her was Derek parents and relations.Her four brothers and their respective wives were standing beside her rendering consolatory word
"Its okay,this is not the end of the road Clara"Pelumi said.
"Leave me so i can cry out all the tears in my bowel.who have i offended that made me a widow in my prime age"Clara lamented.Her hair were all standing on its scalp,it was ruffled and unkept.She kept wondering why her world was crashing down like a pack of card.
"Its okay my daughter,take it easy on yourself"Mrs Lawson consoled.The men present in the room were just biting her fingers while some of the younger women were trying to fight back tears gathering in their eyes.
"Mummy"a voice called from the outside.Clara recognised it belonged to Tonye.The door opened and he came into the room.
As soon as Clara saw him,she leapt on him.

Let me guess, there is possibility of Clara getting married to David whom I believe is tonye's father.

Tonye hugged her and led her to the bed.he greeted everybody present.
"mum,how did it happen"Tonye probed.
"He left about four days ago for his last tribute show at Abuja but just a day before yesterday,his doctor called me,so i rushed down to Magodo where the hospital was located.The doctor told me he ws suffering from heart attack,we have even made plans that we will be taking to Saudi Arabia but yesterday early morning around two after i finished speaking with you on the phone,the doctor called to tell me that he is dead"Clara summarised.
"Its well mum,all hope is not loss"Tonye said and hugged her.
The rest people looled at their drama.
"Its okay Semilore"Mrs Beecroft spoke at last.
Lanre and Folarin was at each sides of Clara patting each shoulders while her head rested on Tonye chest.
"Its okay dear"Lanre wife Brenda consoled.
"Mum,have you eaten,your temperature is high"Tonye asked.Clara did not reply.
"She refused to eat anything"Ezenwo one of their househelp replied instead.
"Is that so"

"I dont feel like tasting anything"Clara replied.
"No you must take something so i can fix up your running temperature"Tonye said.
"We have prepared rice but she refused to eat,we made her pap and moinmoin but she havent touched it"Ezenwo pointed at the plates on one of the table.
"I have no appetite"
"Get me the food,let me feed her"Tonye ordered and Ezenwo set the table before him."mum please eat something"he said to Clara who nodded.
It was like a miracle when Clara started eating.Most of them who dont know Tonye must have wondered who he was.
"Eat more"Tonye urged when she dropped the spoon,soon the plates were empty.
"Carry them away"Tonye ordered and The househelps cleared the table and scuttled away.
"You need to rest now mum"Tonye admonished."I am not a baby,stop treating me like one"
Clara smacked him on the lap and smiled a little.
"For now,you are my baby"Tonye teased.Clara smiled broadly as the rest people in the room laughed.
"i am not your baby ohh"she replied and laid on the bed.

Clara woke up the next morning,her stomach churned,she guessed it might be hunger.
She looked down the bed and met Tonye reading Bible on the floor.
"Tonye why did you sleep on the floor"Clara asked.Tonye lifted up his head from his Bible."Good morning mum,how was your night"He asked.
"Tonye why did you sleep on the floor"she asked again.
"Mum you need to eat now.let me go and cook for you"Tonye replied making sure he derailed from her question.He got up and rolled up the mattress he used to sleep.
"Yes,like you knew i was hungry.But why didnt you sleep in your room"Clara asked.
"I just felt like sleeping with you"He replied and left the room.
He emerged thirty minutes with a tray.
"This is tea,eggs and bread.Just eat this to hold your hunger while i prepare you pottage"Tonye said.
Clara rushed to her private bathroom to freshen up.She soon started eating while Tonye sat beside and watched her eat.
"mum,you will soon hear secret that have been hidden from you.Please dont react negatively to it"

CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX
Clara was still reminiscing on Tonye word when they summoned her to the family meeting downstairs.All her brothers and her mother were present.She had barely sat down when the family head cleared his throat.
"Clara we symphatise with you for this tragedy but such is life"he started.Tonye winked at Clara,She winked back.
"Thank you baba"she replied.
"Derek is really our source of joy until his demise.He has really done us proud.That wherever i appear,people accord me respect for my younger brother son.Abi am i lying"The rotund man beckoned and the rest family replied in the affirmative.Clara numbered them,they were about twenty.Their sitting room was large enough to contain more than five hundred people while the cushions can collect more than fifty people.Clara eyes spotted three young lady dressed in golden seamed black gown,each of them held two children each.She wondered who they were.Well she will soon find out.
"Clara You are a legal wife of our son Derek Nyesom Lawson"The man stated

Clara nodded.
"we want to apologise to you that Derek never told you he was a Heart Attack patient.Now the reason we called you is to tell you the truth which was hidden in the dark and it is compulsory to tell you before Derek will be buried as tradition demands"the man said and paused to see her reaction but he found none so he throttled"Derek is engaged to three other women before he married you but he never led them down the aisle for marriage but they have two children each for him.These are the women"the man ended.
Clara felt her head loosed from its socket,the message was heavier than she thought.
"You mean Derek my husband have concubines outside"Clara exclaimed and got up in paranoia.
"Concubines is not a nice word,they are your co wives"the man replied.
Tonye got up and came closer to Clara"mum its okay"he said.Clara removed his hand.She was boiling already.She looked to see her brother and mother sitting in silent.Her mother was busy with her phones.This infuriated her the more.
