If Akwa Ibom were allowed the control of her resources, no Akwa Ibom folk would be poor, blame the system.
By the way, Nigeria with all her inexhaustible human and non human resources is the poverty capital of the world and poverty in the country is a national thing. Fact!
Your cursed, wicked, imbecilic and intellectually bankrupt rulers have plunged the whole country, Akwa Ibom inclusive into poverty so stop projecting your frustration on the Government of Akwa Ibom and her people.
Channel that amount of energy to develop yourself and put an end to this senseless hate inspired brimming comments against the peaceful people and the Government of Akwa Ibom State.
All the tribes in Nigeria are represented in those slums and batchers unless you want to tell us that Akwa Ibom folks are the majority in those economic cities across the country.
Be a man and be proud to tell us your state let's see if your State Government is doing better than Akwa Ibom State Government.

It's great what Akwa Ibom is doing, and we are not saying we are developed, or rich or not living in shanty and batcher houses in the slums of other states; all we are saying is, we are happy with the pace at which our state is developing and we might be poor (like you think) because we don't involve in abominable acts to make money and we prefer to first of all build our houses in our state first before deciding to either live a large life in another man's state (that is a typical Akwa Ibomite) so please instead of criticizing us on this thread or on any thread on NAIRALAND and you think that our government/state has not done well compared to your government/state; please as a brother and fellow Nigerian who wish to see Nigeria great tomorrow, visit either the state or accounts of the state government and criticize them like we have been doing responsibly. Most AKWAIBOM people don't go to school. This statement is not true, Akwa Ibom people actually go to school, is lack of funds that hinder them from going further.

They prefer doing house help, okada, hawking etc. Those who made this decision, made it out of condition and not by choice. And please stop generalizing it. Is not all Akwa Ibomites that are into it.

There's need for total reorientation and human capital development for AKWAIBOM indigenesNigerians

See this AKWAIBOM illiterate calling someone an illiterate. What's the educational ranking of AKWAIBOM state?

Now back to our discourse. You are referring at AKWAIBOM as a state. I am referring to AKWAIBOM people. They are very poor people despite the huge oil wealth of AKWAIBOM state. Most AKWAIBOM people do the worst form jobs one can imagine. They live in squalor. Most of them in PH live in shanties. You hardly see an AKWAIBOM person living in a good house.

Most of them in Lagos, do house help, okada, truck pusher etc, those are legit jobs but not suitable for a state that waste money building useless airport terminals, FLYOVERS, stadia, hotels etc, because most AKWAIBOM cannot even afford to enjoy all those things.

AKWAIBOM state should focus on human capital development and not continue to build those stuff that an average AKWAIBOM indigene cannot even afford.

You are wasting your time pointing those out for them. I said same on a thread where Udom claimed he was building the largest flyover in West Africa or so. I simply told them to get their priorities right as flyover wasn't what Akwa Ibom needed most. Mehn, if you see my mentions, more than 50mentions all of them castigating a simple advice. That is how you know people with poor mentality and very low enlightenment. Advice to them is automatically referred to as jealousy or hatred.

All these online statistics you're brandishing to what end?? Most of the statistics are a product of guess work. They just assume things and project them as indices.

Nigeria is the largest economy in Africa but how far. How is life in Nigeria. Leave those office statistics and face real life. Akwa Ibom shouldn't turn to money miss road.

Lol, someone Hawking gala cannot be typing right now with a laptop and engaged in online discuss. Do not get confused, Udom is working but not hard enough. he should amongst other things invest more in human capacity so that people like you with intellectual myopia can have their brains cleared of mental blindness which in result will allow for clearer analysis of your prevailing circumstancial nothingness. I was about saying this. Aside those FLYOVERS, I think Uyo is still largely a slum, because even beside those roads and FLYOVERS you will continue to see slum settlements everywhere in the state. AKWAIBOM people outside of their state are not different, they live in batches, shanties etc.

95% of AKWAIBOM people are so poor despite the huge oil revenue that accrues to the state.

AKWAIBOM state government should prioritise human capital development and education. Building multiple airport terminals, FLYOVER, bridge, stadia etc, can never be useful to an average AKWAIBOM indigene because most of them are still very poor and cannot even afford air ticket.
But are these industries not part of human development? You guys are not criticising Constructively. Yes, akwa Ibom citizens might be poor but recent stats from the NBS shows we are doing better.
Recently we were ranked in the top 5 state with better human development.
What does that tell you?

See, you might see nothing good In building those flyovers or roads but 10 years and 20 years from now, People will be Thankful that was built.
If Lagos had built flyovers and good roads many years ago, they won't be traffic jams everywhere making lives miserable for it populace.

Yes, I agree Akwa ibom Citizens are Poor but I ask you, if you if you re made Governor if Akwa ibom today, what will you do to lift them out of Poverty?
Please don't bring industries or good roads here cause you just criticized it now. tell me what you will do to lift them up that Mr Udom isn't doing already.

You know the Hypocrisy of you Yorubas and Igbos stinks to the high heavens......7 years ago I was a Visitor here and I constantly see Akwa ibomites showcase the Good roads in our state but you all shouter that road is not every thing, that Akwa ibomites are poor and are houseboys/girls outside d state.
You all said Akwa Ibom should concentrate on building Factories and industries and wooing investors.
Now Udom have come in and he's doing exactly that but you are singing a new song now and saying that's not what he should do.

You know one thing am sure of today, is that in years to come all this projects including the Airport , Stadiums, hotels, Roads will set akwa Ibom apart from the rest state.

You know one thing have learnt? "if every body is against you, it means you are doing something right...keep on it, and you will be better off.

Rwanda, and the rest they started like this, with good roads and impressive airports and others things, many shouted and said, "Rwandans are poor and they should stop building roads" but smart investors saw those roads as investments, they saw that when they invest in this country, they can easily move about. So they came in and invest billion of dollars in tourism, industries etc . and today Nigerians are running to Rwanda. Recently it was ranked the cleanest and finest city in Africa, Kigali.

To me, Udom should keep building roads, Quality roads. the investments will come and people will be better off in the state.

If you check where Akwa Ibom was in 1999 and where we are now, you will see that this roads etc have been of great help to us.
Today we have attracted many investors and are listed as investors favorite state after Lagos.
If we keep on, 30 years from now we might just be another Rwanda that is better than every state in Nigeria including the FCT.

Where is the insult. Why can't you accept the truth. Most batchers and slums in economic cities across Nigeria are populated by Akwa Ibomites. Are you so pained by the truth?? if yes, do something about it. The way to go is to make your leaders responsible as they are in charge of your Commonwealth.
Sorry what state are you from? if you say Lagos, I will have you know they're poor people, very poor people in Lagos who are Yorubas and lagosians. We can use Makoko as an example.
What have you done about it?....We are not comparing our state here, we are simply showing what our state is doing with his resources. Yes we can do more but this is a Right foundation.
We are holding our leaders accountable cause I don't see which leader you will bring up in Nigeria that Udom wouldn't beat them hands down. Is it Sanwo olu? to me he is already a failure.
We are making our leaders responsible and that's why every Governor that comes in does extremely well for the People.

it took Rwanda 30 years to be able to be what they are. their leaders weren't saint, they stole and still do but the difference is that unlike Nigeria's, they did better than they predecessors.
Today look at Rwanda and compare it to your slum called Lagos that is the richest State in Africa and yet can't be compare to a rundown town of South Africa.
