My wife is one and I have managed her for over 12 years now, your wife should avoid the following:
Bathing cold water especially this raining season
Sweeping rug
Dusty environment
Smoke from fire
Exposing herself to cold
Unavailability of inhaler
Always on light clothes
Unavailability of Ventolin.
Pls always go to good hospital if you notice anytime she doesn't breath well.
Also always call her to put on sweeter if you are not around. It is not dead sentence.
Enjoy your marriage

At OP, see a chest/respiratory physician if you are really worried.

Especially if she has not managed it well before now. Otherwise by now she will know what triggers episodes (if she does get such) and which medication work well.

First forget stigma and fear. Asthmatics live very normal lives if managed properly and at the right time.

You will get many advice here, some good, some downright potentially dangerous.

NEVER use Franol (Ephedrine) for asthma when she gets pregnant. Only doctors have have run out of options and specifically prescribe Franol.

Best cure for asthma is to identify the triggers and avoid them.

Bro seek medical care at a specialist clinic. If she has to use reliever medications(salbutamol, franol, theophyline etc) more than twice in a week then her condition is uncontrolled. Overuse of systemic steroid(prednisolone) is bad. See a doctor who might prescribe ventolin inhaler for emergency attack and seretide diskus as a controller medication(ie if needed)

Before you decided on making babies please see a doctor and a gynecologist. To tell you what to do. Pregnancy is a different ball game. Pregnant women don't take drugs anyhow cos it may affect the health of the baby

*ASTHMA*:
Get some seeds of mango, cut it into pieces and keep under the sun to dry. Grind to powder. Put one spoon of the powder into a glass cup of water, stir it and drink. Once in a day for 3-4 weeks .

Nothing to fear brother. I stopped using inhalar years ago when somebody introduced me to these cheap drugs. At 1st i take it morning n evening but now i only take it when i find it difficult to breath. Ventoline, franol n predesolone. When is serious i take 2 of each but i usually take 1 each.

infact same drugs with mine. I use Ventolin #3 per one. infact na counting I Dey buy sef and prednisolone. sachet # 100. I didn't even use call or inhaler. mine is been triggered by cold water, so during rain period I stopped taking cold drinks and water.

op just follow this and ofcourse know what triggers it.

Depending on the type of her asthma, she need to change the current inhaler she is using and find the one that help control her asthma symptoms also she should stay away from fried foods. On your free time always massage her upper back and let her take horney frequently at least ones a day.

I dont get it. How has she been managing it all these while? Just to be on the safe side, I will advise you to get a spacer device preferably a valve holding chamber with an adult sized mask just in case something untoward happens. Search for the device on youtube. It is used in consonance with the metered dose inhaler. Get one ASAP to be used when she needs her inhaler and most importantly during emergencies. I am sure you will find it in Nigeria. Best of luck

Get her enough inhalers, make sure she always go with it everywhere she goes, also there are some medicines for asthmatic patients, remove any food or perfume that will trigger an attack . My dad and grandmother has asthma and they are living with it. so your wife will be fine.

I am asthmatic but on the mild.it get triggered by stuffy environment, smoke, dust, cold /taking cold things, fried foods/ oil, perfume ,insecticide and choky odors. I make use of my Ventolin inhaler when I start having symptoms of wheezy breathing or I start feeling chocked. There are also intravenous injections given at the hospital for relief of asthma attacks.

Even if your wife gets pregnant she will be fine. She should always have her inhaler close to her always for emergencies and stay off things that will trigger it.

Btw I have kids already. Good luck

Please and please don't give your wife prednisolone on a daily basis. This is one drug that shouldn't be given for a long period of time cos it will most certainly lead to adrenal insufficiency and crisis when it eventually takes over the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal function. Again Google to find out more on this.
