I need advice on the best and natural way to handle asthma.

I got married in April this year and my wife is asthmatic. I'll seriously need advice on the best possible way to handle her asthma incase she gets pregnant. Please help a brother.

Mod please help me move this to front-page

Bro I am asthmatic,
Depending on her severity of thee asthma.

Don't stay in a storey building, climbing steps when in crisis is bad

Avoid extreme cold or extreme heat, everything has to be in moderation

Dust is a no no, so don't use rug, change bedsheets regularly

Some foods can cause her lungs to react, she knows them, avoid them.

You can use ventolin tablet to manage crisis in the onset, when it becomes fulll blow use ventolin inhaler.

Using ventolin inhaler is simple, but some people waste it...
When using it, only press the top knob when breathing in, and continue breathing in, then hold your breath.

Try to reduce inhaler use.

When u change environment, like visiting someone's house, use the tablet down... It prevents issue..

Now all the advice listed, especially those concerning drug use are not pregnant use... Please consult a doctor

Op use seretide inhaler .......it's a preventative inhaler.......initially she should use it morning and night.......but after like a month she can be using it once a day......with time she can go for days witout it no shaking.......She should always eat bitter kola and honey.......like one or two daily.......heard bitterkola causes low BP so be careful not to abuse it......I have not had attack for over three years now.

Asthma can be well managed. By now she should know the triggers and avoid them. Then have Ventolin handy for eventual attack. Prednisolone can help in preventing the attacks

Avoid using prednisolone (corticosteroids) for prolonged term. Long-term use associated with fluid retention and hypertension, suppression of hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, intraocular pressure leading to glaucoma.

Go and see a doctor to place her on a routine drug

You have nothing to fear my brother. I also have an Asmatic wife at home and she did really fine while she was pregnant.

All you just have to do is make sure she stays off stress, dust and also make sure that she does not miss her hospital appointment as u said she is pregnant.

Her inhaler should always be with her just in case she start clogging .

I can assure you she would be really fine

Fortunately there is cure for asthma now. Recently, I was able to cure a relative with a new product called STC30. It is a stem cell product. You can use this product to cure her asthma and get yourself peace of mind. I experienced the challenges and trauma associated with asthma. The experience is terrible.

One important thing that I will advise u is for u to purchase as many inhalers as possible. Keep them at every corners of the house , also ur wife can keep at least 1 in each of her handbags in case of emergency. If she is the working type, she should put some in her office, drawer, etc. If she is the business type, she should also put some in her shop. She should try to avoid anything that triggers it such as smoke, dust, cold etc. God will see u through.
Re: Please Help: My Wife Has Asthma by shegsrules(m): 8:04pm On Jul 04, 2020
Avoid dust, smoke, pollen grains and try to take much water. Go around with your inhaler(salbutamol, ventolin) be prayerful cus your healing is near.

People say that a glass of organic milk raw(not boiled or treated) from the traditional cow (no grade cows) helps.

I used to have chronic asthma, but now barely have asthma attack. If ever.

I'll love to help in every way I can.

Ask me anything you want.

When you say manage, do you mean as prevention of attacks or sustainance during attacks?

What inhaler is she currently using? If it's Ventolin, let her move to Seretide.

If you're Yoruba there's this thing called "saka", these herbs people sell it. Looks like onions. Buy some and pound it in mortal. Once squashed collect some into a bottle and add pure water to it.

Note: This has a strong effect on the breathe, so your wife must be in good posture when taking this. It's very effective. Please, she shouldn't take more than a sip (Coca-Cola bottle lid).

If she can put up with this consistently for a month. She sooner than rather be freed of asthma attacks. At that point you can begin to talk of avoidance of triggers.

Triggers differs, mine is eggs. So I don't eat them. Ask her what hers is, it's just things she finds naturally odd. You can speak for her, I'll be happy to help here.

Nothing to fear brother. I stopped using inhalar years ago when somebody introduced me to these cheap drugs. At 1st i take it morning n evening but now i only take it when i find it difficult to breath. Ventoline, franol n predesolone. When is serious i take 2 of each but i usually take 1 each.

I still prefer lung aand chest, franol is out if it.

Yep, terrible. Every night was a nightmare. Too much laughter, too much sneezing, too much yawning then it's another vigil to hold.

I spent 2 hours to get to school as a kid. Lol...journey should be about 20 mins. But the pause and breaks were too much. If I didn't make them my lungs would collapse. I had to.

There was a time I was walking with my dad. He walked faster than I was and he asked me to join him. I told him I can't. My dad burst into tears.

My parents care but the pain was mine to bear.

But Asthma opens one to a new perspective of life: death and life are but a split apart. Can't count how many times I've been close to death. It really doesn't scare me anymore.

Still I'm grateful.

How did you deliver your kids? is it through operation?? Because I'm also scared she might have an attack during child birth

Yes I had them through operation but asthma has nothing to do with how your wife delivers

My heart bleeds when I see post like this from matured adults on Nairaland

This place does not resemble a hospital or a medical forum! You are talking about one's life and you think the best place to find solutions is on Nairaland? You don't have a doctor or a Pharmacist at the least?

Nairaland is full of children parents still watch bum bum for after pooing. At best the only thing they are good for is ethic fight

Please see a doctor preferably a consultant and stop making a mess of yourself on this useless forum

You can only get good advise here when there is a paid or premium niche where all these children behind Tecno phone cannot afford to pay for and make useless comments

Look through and see the quality of comments you are getting
I've been getting nice responses here and it has increased my confidence in handling my wife. Nairaland is not useless, we have professionals here

I am also Asthmatic, I use Franol and prednisone to manage it. I no longer use Inhaler anymore also stay away from things that trigger it like cold weather, cold water, fried foods, roasted Maize, Smoke, any strong smell, dust etc. Allergy varies from one Asthmatic patient to another, your wife may have other things that trigger her asthma find it out and make sure she stay away from it. Goodluck

While it’s good to read the experiences of others, note that patients may differ in tolerance to similar conditions. It’s best to visit a hospital to get proper medical diagnosis and advice from qualified doctors.
