They shouldn't rule out mental issues with the wife. She should be taken to the nearest psychiatric hospital for evaluation. While growing up, we had a neighbor that has mental issues anytime she is pregnant. It happened with her 2nd and also 3rd baby. We later heard it runs in her family.
