This is in bad taste.

That means you never had a friend all through. Or don't know how to make quality friendship.

Who said it must even be at a bar? Some valuable friends, real friends may never get to your level that doesn't make them envious or useless.

Some of us have kept friends from our 1st year at school till date. Stop thinking everyone wants a piece of you because of your wealth.

And d bar isn't where to make quality friendship.

I had so many friends, after school I was jobless for about 6 years and one of my friend was in the UK and was always checking on me. when he came back to naija, he visited my village at every opportunity bit today he is a promising civil servant and my best pally, no amount of money can come in between us. I have several real friends like that and I wouldn't allow my affluence keep me away from them. same way we want to liaise with dudes above us, let's give those below us room to tap from us. its very wrong to always cut people out of your life because of finances. those that cut me off when I was jobless can't fit in again though still soft friends. I do not joke with my former friends, I rather not make new ones, new ones are only business partners and not friends. my friendzone should be filled already.

My concern is my life, when am gone its over. I raised it on my own and expect my kids to do better because am giving them a better foundation. I owe my kids a good education to PhD in the best schools in the world. Their success is in their hands. My 1b will be left with instruction that will only enable them access the interest and not the capital. My grand children can't even touch it. Generally, I don't care what happens after am dead. My plan is to live a good second half of my life as growing up was hectic. Can't loss it on both halves of life.

This is an interesting perspective sir. I am just starting out. It's funny that I am saying this at almost 27..

I have ventured into quite a handful businesses in the past made some profit which I was relatively good at saving. Most of my business didn't survive infact some of them just took money from me without ever generating a revenue. I started investing (100k) in mutual funds in 2015. However, that money didn't really grow much apart from the accumulated interest. There were quite a few times I withdrew some of my capital from the mutual fund to cater for a few needs arising.

I am ashamed to admit that I did participate in these numerus ponzi schemes that came out en mass between 2016 and 2017. I managed to loose all my money (about 350k) to these schemes.

I feel like I got a clean state to start over as I recently relocated out of the country. I am looking to grow wealth and also to secure my future. I will love to have investments that will allow me retire from work at 50 and sufficient enough to leave for my grand children.

I will value any advice you have for me on this journey

Thank you

Foundation of true friendship should be based on common attitudes, ideology, personal values, aspirations and commitment. When friends have these is common, they will succeed in their friendship.

Money should not be the basis, but when people have the right attitudes, personal values, aspirations and commitment they will be better than the average Nigerian. Definitely some friends will be richer, more intelligent, famous, knowledgeable and influential than others. The blends of all these will add synergy to the friendship.

You can open a money market fund with the money

Make sure you add something to the fund every month or quarter, this should be the starting point.

You are on the right track

Slow and steady wins the race, don't invest in what you don't understand, no matter how tempting avoid gambling, betting, High Yield Investment Schemes and Ponzi schemes.

Invest regularly and consistently, try and be liquid and invest for both cash flow and capital appreciation.

Don't live within your means but live below your means.

Make friends with people who share these aspirations with you, that is the only way to go far and grow fast

A foolish man thinks he will invest when he gets rich. A wise man knows that only by investing can he get rich. You explain to them that they must invest, they angrily say ‘how can I invest from my little’. Dont worry. You‘ll remain little forever!

Two options depending on your risk tolerance:

If your risk tolerance is low go for mutual fund. Vantage guaranteed income fund VGIF recommended
If you can take risk and having long term in mind go for GTBank and Zenith bank shares even at the current price it's ok though if you get it lower better.
You can do any of the options or both with Investment One (former GTBank Asset Management) to open account click the link on my signature.
Everything is done online and you have the opportunity to monitor your investment anywhere you are in the world.

N.B: Investment one will never ask for cash to open any of the products account.

It's simple. Buy when naira is stable and sell when it's unstable. And then convert it back when it's stable.

Hmm!

FBN Quest Asset Management is also below 5%.

It depends on what the fund managers have in their portfolios. They usually have cash, Treasury Bills, Commercial papers, short term corporate and FG bonds in their portfolio.

It seems it is only VGIF from Investment One that has a guaranteed rate.

There is an opening I want to discuss with anyone whose the condition below falls within his or her risk tolerance.
The funds will be lien in an account as a backup fund
It will be lien for a period of 12 months
It will earn 2% monthly during this period
The operation for which the funds is lien for will be insured
For more clarity and if the above looks cool for you and falls within your risk tolerance kindly contact me via my signature as I can share some details here.

I am interested, the funds and proceeds from the business will be in my account. We can employ United Capital Trustee as the Trustees of the deal.

And everything about this business will be discussed here, to be open to everyone.

"What is VANTAGE GUARANTEED INCOME FUND?

VANTAGE GUARANTEED INCOME FUND (VGIF) is an open-ended collective investment scheme which pools investment into a wide range of Fixed Income Securities especially very liquid short term money market instruments and government treasuries"

You have confused me. The above is from Investment One website on the definition of VGIF.

I was trying to benchmark it with Stanbic MMF that does 100% fixed income. I noticed that Stanbic MMF does not have a guaranteed rate like VGIF.
