You're a walking contradiction, you know that?... You proscribe Traditional animist religion as an answer to all our problems. Only to go ahead later, telling some dudes they need Jesus

Because they are heading to hell, I suggest them. A name of the guardian of that place. Wouldnt it be better to get aquainted beforehand with the head of your destination?

When we went to bury my urhobo aunt who are mum happened to come from benin from my paternal family, when the urhobo elders were speaking i could understand everything they said with no stress not just me but our benin family families that accompanied her there, some Urohobo words we didnt understand were words in benin we would call vocabulary in the now benin language, without interpretation from them we understood what they said..... And we laff at how they sounded speaking a form of benin

What part of Urhobo? very unlikely for you to hear even 30%, maybe you understand the Urhobo language as well.

I understand only few Bini words, but when they speak, I'm lost, not matter how attentively I listen.

I dont know about the ife Claim oh Oniovo, infact av never heard of or seen the ooni of ife past and present in the orodje's palace before. i think the relationship should be between ife and the olu of itsekiri, because the former oba benin was more or less like a spiritual father to the late orodje of okpe. Doesn't mean that the orodje is mandated to receive directives from the oba though, its just a spiritual hierachy. i do not know of the relationship between the new oba of benin and the present orodje though.

I was shocked when I found out that the word for God in Etsako is Oghena and that for Urhobo is Oghene. And Oghene is an old Benin vocabulary that is almost going into extinction. There is this place along TV road in Benin called Ore-oghene.
The Ohen-osa who went to Portugal spoke of a particular Oghene.

Etsako though sounds linguistically closer to Esan, it is very far from Benin. I feel that Both Etsakos and the Urhobos might have left Benin very early. The Esans are the last stock who left Benin.

While the Benins would say Oghogho
The Urhobos would say Aghogho
They both use Omonigho

Isoko seems very far

The other day I listened to itsekiri and I could barely hear Yoruba inside. I was thinking it was very close to Yoruba but it doesn't sound that way.

I once dated an Urhobo girl

That babe was so loving, hard-working, caring and beautiful

But I got worried when I learned that the Urhobos don't bury the corpse of their wives in their husbands' hometowns

Sincerely, I didn't like that. It was as though I was just borrowing their daughter to bear kids for me.

Anyways, we broke up when I moved to Lagos and she refused to join me because she is a single mom.

We are still friends and talk till date. I will never forget the way she makes me delicious Banga soup

Migwo! grin

In benin it is called osanogoduwa the god almighty

The word oghene was found in European documents from benin people in 1590, it was used to mean king in benin, farback then but today the word is almost unknown to the benin only present in urhobo and auchi people of edo north

As per the oba of Ben crowning the orodje,I will disagree,it's not true,my mum I from one of the four houses that rules, before now three houses rule, while one crown, the present orodje is of the crowning house cos they said they want to rule and not just crown, you can ask and get your facts right from any elderly okpe person....thank u.

The Okpes believed they migrated from Ife, passed through Bini before reaching their destination in Delta State. I believe the claim is faulty because till date we still are unable to dig any proof to support that.
