Building a good reputation with Boko Haram, Fulani herdsmen and bandits? Building reputation with millions of Almajiri children littered all over the northern states? Building reputation by making Nigeria the poverty capital of the world?
Which kind of reputation are you really building?

I just hope, everything Nigerian needs, would be made in Nigeria and owned by Nigerians
instead of exporting all the time.
it will create many job opportunities and even have many to be exported. we would be making money from other countries
boost GDP and increase our MPS
make Nigerians to start using their brains for the good of the country.
go to Canada or US a lot of doctors there are Nigerians. they will take all the brains we have in our country
and use for their betterment.
well if there was adequate security in Nigeria and people don't breed like rabbits there would be

[s] I will keep saying this; the only advantage Lagos have over kano is the sea-port. [/s] Well I believe with time and by electing the right leaders at every level of government in the state, kano state will surely overthrow Lagos as the real commercial hub of Nigeria.

God bless kano state.

Mumu talk as usual. It wasn't unexpected that you lots have the effrontery to masturbate on this thread. Of course every state have their own advantage and product they produce from which huge revenues for developments are made, and no one is saying the North are not doing fine economically. But as much as they are doing fine, they are doing worse too with their retrospective mindset and their unwillingness to go in tandem with current development in the world.

A typical example and a rebuttal to your myopic claim that I trashed up here is the aspect of comparing Lagos to kano. For the record, Lagos isn't making giant stride because of the seaport alone. Lots of states can't catch up with Lagos not because of the seaport alone, rather because the level of literacy down here is making multinational companies to troop in here. Multinational companies can't set foot in an environment where literacy is below par. Obviously for the reason that those not literate enough will not buy their products.

Once I tried searching for investment banking companies outside of Lagos, I hardly could find any. Investment banking holding their foot proper in Lagos only shows Lagos is the marketing hub Nigerian. And shows people buy their products because they are literate enough to understand the efficacy of services they render. Otherwise, most would have packed and closed up in a long time.

This isn't to say other states aren't doing well, literate-wise, but the very fact that most tech companies, investment and advisory companies, insurance, research and other developmental companies that brings rapid development to nations and turn them to developed country are situated in Lagos. They're not situated in Lagos because of the seaport, they're situated there because of the population and the literacy level there.

Nevertheless this is just one of the many reasons why you can't compare Lagos to Kano. Unless maybe in the nearest future when Kano and most northerners stop seeing 'Boko as Haram', then the possibility of Kano being compared to Lagos may spring up.

Until then, stop spewing bunkum abeg!!

The other day, the US gave warnings to their citizens traveling to Nigeria. And part of the no go areas are mostly northern states and some part of SS. Is this the reputation that the North is building for the country?

This is how Nigeria will become developed. By refining raw materials and exporting them. Rather than exporting raw cotton and buying back a product made from it at five times the original value.

"The secret myth of . . ."
Implications of Exporting raw materials;
- importing poverty
- decrease/increase in foreign reserve.
- decrease/increase in per capita income.
- exporting job opportunity.
- increase/decrease in rate of unemployment.
- capital flight.
- increase/decrease in insecurity & crime rate.

No tribalism bro. I am proudly Oodua, married to my tribe all my children bear Igbo names. These brothers and sisters from Igboland play wrong politics and carriage. They cry foul about the rest maginalizing them. I want them to be angry and think and have positive approach to relationships. If they get their biafra, are they going to live alone? They will created more problems for those who will outside region and have more than they had in South Africa, my approach may be harsh.

the old folks refuse to be removed.
I am Igbo, but if they see the youths are uniting,
they will put notion is peoples heads like Biafra, lazy youth, yahoo boy
like magu when his sins were catching up to him, he always brought out some boys with laptops
and parade them saying they are yahoo boys and the people and
cameras will be fixated on them and the youths will never take a stand
if you want better things, they will send DSS
I don't really believe Buhari has all the powers, there are cabals that always hijack countries
they never show there faces, they prefer working in the shadows
hausa, fulani, yoruba, Igbo, niger delta. they are all complicit

those old men that have more than enough for up to 100 lifetimes are holding this country hostage
and are still wanting more

Good intitiative.
But if the government has to ban importation from Asia, then there is more to the factory's story.
Perhaps, it is being subsidized by the government because other countries would prefer the
cheaper Asian products to Nigeria's.

A truly competitive factory does not need government's bans to survive.

you probably need it in a country where people are wired to believe that imported goods are a statement of class

Actually even with the sea port, kano was running neck and neck with Lagos but 2 significant events changed the dynamics. First was the devastation of the IBB/Abacha era and secondly boko haram. The result was that factories in Kano closed down and also the Northern elite deserted kano for Abuja and also everybody else in the south emigrated to Lagos, so lagos grew while kano declined. Traditionally Kano has been a commercial trading hub long before even the British came. Even lagos's growth was influenced by goods moving to and from from the lagos port and kano.

you know you just can't pull anything out of your ass and call it facts right?? neck and what did I hear you say? you do know long before the British arrived there was already trade with the Portuguese right? If you really want to prop up Kano as the champion in the north then pls by all means do... (you will competing with the likes of Zamfara, kogi, adamawa e t.c) not exactly the elite list but the distance between Kano and Lagos can best be understood by calculating the distance of the earth from the sun. Look at the literacy level alone a key factor in attracting investment and tell me how Kano compares

Look at how an Afonja son of the fallen demon wants to come spoil this beautiful threads. U guys are double-faced green snakes. What's your motive now? To pitch Igbos against the Northerners right?

The most hardworking tribes in Nigeria are the Hausas and the Igbos, cos there's virtually no state in this country that you'll go and not see this two sets of People hustling irrespective of how menial it is.

Wrong, yorubas are most hardworking and most influetial of all blacks. our investment is in brain not braun. the result is what bring the influx of others to come and make fortunes in our land. as long your tax is paid and contribute your qoutal to the development of your host community, you don't have problem. the brown roofs your people mention in posts are relics of ancient civilization, when those houses were built, your forebears were living in thatched houses.
