With the increasing waves of cyber security attacks all over the world , it seems like cyberspace is no longer safe. I've been wondering how dangerous cyber security jobs could get , can you get into trouble for doing your job ?.
just recently I discovered that a cyber security researcher was arrested for creating a free tool which some hackers used to steal passwords and personal information of bank customers.
How dangerous do you think this field can get ?

Ethical Hacking and penetration testing... Watch the movie "Mr Robot" . Trust me you will learn alot. There's no career without professional hazards.

As a Security engineer working for a company, stay within your job description or project scope/ boundaries. Know that if you create a tool, it could be used for any purpose. Let good reason guide you. There are already more than enough free tools to do most pentest tasks.

As a researcher, know which lines to cross and not to. Look around you and learn from others experience.
