Hello guys

I want to ask if schools do send details of the pre-cas interview (asin your replies to the pre-cas interview questions) to Ukvi because I don't want to contradict myself during visa interview.

@justwise or the gurus on the house
Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by mimilyrics: 11:17pm On Jul 19, 2020
Usually, no. Your CAS is what the UKVI has access to. The pre-CAS information is just for the school to confirm that all the details to be included on your CAS are correct and in line with the required T4 Visa guidelines. The pre-CAS interview is more like the school is trying prep you and gauge your success at the application + interview to prevent a refusal that might negatively impact their T4 sponsorship licence.

Please I need an advice of guru in the house. I'm contemplating on taking loan from a family member to finance my postgraduate education in UK. Is it possible to pay back a loan of $15000 from casual job within 3 years(including 2 years post graduation visa) that I will be entitled to stay in UK.

@justwise please your opinion will be appreciated

Hello guys, I have a bit of a headache I will need your advice on. My initial plan was to book a hotel to stay for 2 nights and then sort my apartment from there but with the latest development that says we have to stay at our arrival place for at least 14 days, I am confused on what steps to take next. I do not wish to stay in the University's owned accommodation and a hotel for 14 days is way too expensive. I also checked travel lodge which seems a bit decent for the purpose of isolation at about £470 for 2 weeks but they want a pre-payment. Can you provide the best solution(s) to this?

There is just ONE truth.
Truth does not contradict itself.
Honesty is the best policy.

If you tell the truth, you do not require another ‘truth’ to prove that truth.
If you tell untruths, you will always need more untruths to cover the untruths and end up entangled.

I know this wasn’t the reply you were looking for.
Plus I know the ‘why-not-just-look-and-pass’ geng will come after me.
But...

It is what it is.

$15,000 equals £11,932.

Question:
The loan you want to take is for what, exactly?
School fees? Maintenance? Visa fees? Flight ticket?

The school awarded you free Accomodation for 1, 2,3 semesters?

3 semesters out of how many?

If 3 semesters translates to free Accomodation for the entire duration of your schooling, that is GOLD!!

If you require the best advise, you may need to provide a bit more information.

PS:
Coventry University have a postgraduate course with £9,000 only school fees, for an international student? Or is the 9k for 1 semester.

Tuition:9k
Waiver:4K
Balance: 5k.

What?
You have hit diamonds and Gold.

Yes, you will be able to pay back but it won’t be easy. It’s quite painful to do shifts and realise that you have a debt to clear from your pay. Do whatever it’s best for you smiley

In these CoViD-19 era, schools are taking extraordinary steps they would never take one a good day’.
If I were you, I would sit down, compose an email to the school, telling them exactly how the 14-day quarantine period will have massive dent in my finances. I would even subtly slide in a line about how I may be forced to forfeit the admission should I require to stay in a hotel for 14 long days. Then I would ask the school if they have any plans for offering free temporary ‘Quarantine’ Accomodation for international students.

Just wait for the reply.

In addition to the quoted comment below, bear in mind the following, in no particular order:

1. you might not get a job immediately you get into the UK.

2. When/If you get a job at minimum wage or at a slightly higher rate, you will be make about £184 weekly and roughly £736 or slightly higher monthly during term time. You should be able to make more during non-term time but this is usually not feasible till after you submit your dissertation because the holidays between the 3 terms are quite short.

3. Is the $15,000 inclusive of maintenance (rent, food, transport or phone bills)? Or is it just for maintenance with your school fees paid via other means?

4. If the $15,000 is just for the course fees and isn't inclusive of maintenance and you succeed in showing the balance in a different way, how do you intend to meet up with your monthly repayment plan? This is because rent, transport, food and phone costs (roughly around £500-600 depending on several factors) will come out of the around £746 that you might be earning monthly.

5. Your monthly payment will have a fixed repayment date and missing this date will attract penalties which will increase the overall amount you have to pay back. Are you ready for this if it happens?

6. Is the 15k inclusive of interest or without? What's the total with interest?

7. You might not have up to what you need to repay monthly by your monthly instalments deadline. Is the loan giver flexible with payment dates? i.e. moving the date by a few days.

8. If you get over stressed as a result and don't engage with your course as you should, it could lead to undesirable outcomes. You wouldn't want issues with your grades and your T4 sponsor because you can only take advantage of the PSW if you successfully complete your course.

9. Some of the above questions/points are based on the premise that the loan giver might want to treat this as a legal business transaction and get a lawyer involved because of the loan amount. If some of the points don't apply to the loan terms and conditions, kindly discount them.

PS: it's a tough one as @skymoore has said and on some days, you might lose your mojo, be disillusioned or even breakdown as a result. It's all grit and no child's play so critically think your options through.
If you don't have to start repaying the loan immediately though, you can make the money in less than your anticipated time span depending on your lifestyle and tastes but you'll have to put in the time.

mimilyrics:
1. It will be for a maximum of 9 months.
This is because the dependant's leave will be dependent on the time left on the T4 student's leave. And if the dependant applies in Feb 2021, the main applicant (the T4 student) still has 11 months valid leave in the UK based on the visa durations under the current PBS system.
The student's leave doesn't end when he/she finishes the course but by 11.59pm on the day the leave granted the student expires; this is usually 4-6 months after course end date.
I anticipate that the leave periods will be changed at the start of the PSW scheme.

2. The IHS should be for 1 year (£470 - IHS cost per year for students from October 2020) since the period of leave would be 11 months. You can use the IHS fee checker if in doubt.

3. 28 days financial proof.

PS: When applying with the main applicant or before the main applicant arrives the UK, the calculation is usually based on the course duration but when applying separately, it is based on the duration left on the student's visa/leave.

Thank you very much for the advice. God bless

Thank you very much for your deep analysis. Please does it worth it staying back after PSW has expired just to earn some money, repay the loan and relocate to another country cuz I'm 100% certain that my course of study cannot get me a job in UK. So my primary intention is to leave the country through that means since I'm presently earning nothing here.

Please kindly advise

Canada immigration process is extremely cumbersome and I don't have good GPA to get direct Master Degree programme. Australia is very very expensive. I think UK falls within my budget

Hi Dreamer,

Please double check your free accommodation and be clear on that..it says for this academic year, which is just 3months left (Sept- Nov) before the christmas break and a new academic year begins in January.

The Phoenix award Gold is 2000GBP deduction from tution fee , the silver is 1000GBP deduction and Bronze 500GBP as well..confirm that also.

If you are going on the EU trip with Phoenix, you will still need to pay some additional cost for hotel and visa process, however it will be less than other students not signed on with Phoenix. What course are you going for at 9k? please double check these things.

Not to spoil your excitement, i just noticed this.

If you stay back after PSW without securing a job..you will be classified as an illegal overstayer. The goal is to get a job way before the PSW expires. Once you show up to relocate at the airport na straight deportation to Naija plus Ban. The aim is to switch to a tier 2 job during PSW

You make me laugh, if you can process UK from 9ja, you can as well process Australia from UK, Australia is expensive quite right, but people missed out the fact that you can have many opportunities to hustle and get money within a short period, repay back your loan than UK. If you can land yourself to Austral, I'm very sure you can survive and repay your loan, but it depends on you, you can as well be lucky to survive and pay back the loan in uk.

Hello gurus in the house,

Please I have a few questions to ask as an applicant
- I have a brother who is ready to accommodate me and also take care of living expense in the city where my school is located. Do I need to show this in my visa application. And hope age won’t be a disadvantage to one if I reflect this?
- Does having home ties such as Children, business or landed property an advantage in getting tier-4 student visa?

Thanks

You don’t need to show that your brother is accommodating you but like everyone else, you need to provide proof of your tuition and maintenance fees even though you’d be living with your brother.

Thank you justwise. its not part of maintenance. It covers tuition fee that will be paid in 3 instalments for a part time programme of 2 years.

Please kindly help me analyse if I could recoup the money from casual jobs and still have some good savings before PSW expires. I believe this step is better than being unemployed in Nigeria.

In your opinion, do you think Australia will be better to pursue the above goal

The truth is that we all have different objectives for travelling. My objective is to have more free time to work and repay loan I will collect, then have some good savings before 3 years elapse so that I could be able to relocate to another country and start a life.

There is no need for me being optimistic that I will get a job in UK except I switch to core IT or health related courses that will affect my chances of graduation and probably disrupt my hope of PSW. Besides I'm a lawyer. UK law firms are yet to employ 20% of their citizens with law degrees before considering migrants. Planning is very essential for me. I don't want to be blindly optimistic

Yes, you can do that, it all depends on your expensive lifestyle. Set up a payment plan while studying with that loan...
During your studies, with your 20 hours work per week, walking distance from your house to school and work, You can pay back £200 monthly: £200 × 12 = £2400, and still comfortably afford your accommodation and living expenses in a shared flat.
After your studies..., for next 2 years ( 24 months), Your full time work should get you a minimum payback of £500 per month : £500 x 24 = £12,000.

Its an interest free loan and better than taking bank loan. Please grab this Golden opportunity now... smiley
