Please,I will like to send you an email . Thank you for your encouraging words.

quote author=neverlosehope post=91659373]I am overwhelmed with gladness that there are well meaning Nigerians coming to my defense. I am touched beyond words.

@vibrant99, don’t start with questioning the motives but try an open your mind. With God’s grace, great opportunities are possible. The focus of the story was not about me but to encourage people and debunk some untrue believe systems that we have in Nigerian.

Yes, I had 2.2 from Nigeria. Yes, I was almost 40 years when I left the shore of Nigeria with my family and I got fully funded scholarship. My tuition was waived till $25, therefore all I have to pay every semester is $25 and fee which was less than $800 every semester. I was paid $15,000 stipend every year for 9 hours/week tutoring students in Maths Lab. Yes, i subtained my family with the stipend by knowing what to spend on. So you are wrong, I did not attended a low rated university in US neither do I graduate for Arabic language ( what is wrong if I graduated in Arabic, it might not be a good program to you, but that might be the strength of others). For your information, I graduate with Masters of Science degree in Mathematics (Option in Statistics) with a very good GPA. I left US not because I was unable to get admitted into US universities for my PhD. In fact I got over 5 universities admissions fully funded with the least stipend of 25k per year. I left because of the broken immigration laws in US and because my wife could not work but can do so legally in Canada.

Again, your statement about Canada regarding me is incorrect. I got a very generous stipend for my Ph.D program in top 10 university in Canada. I had a stipend of 36k per year as Research Assistant and extra 18k working as a Teaching Assistant. Yes, I finished my coursework with GPA of 4.0/4.0. I don’t believe for a second that I am extraordinarily. All these is possible with the assistance of God and it could happened to anybody.

Few people had contacted my over the years through this platform. I have been able to render my assistance as much as I can do. They even have my contact details which shown the authenticity of my story.

Again @vibrant 99, please do not tie people down because you don’t believe them. If you have not seen witness it, that does not mean it is not happening. My story is not unique, I have countless stories of Nigerian with merger beginnings achieving impossible high.

Lastly, the crux of sharing my stories is that nothing can stop you for achieving your dream. Not your starting place, not your age, not your accent. Only you can stop yourself.

Please hold on, keep working, keep believing. God will surely make a wake and you will smile. See you at the top !!!!!!!!

@Frankrobbn1 @JustMellow @Qudkom @Naijaforeigner @Osemigho @everyone, Trust y'all doing great

I would love to make an enquiry, let me assume am the one in question

I got admission to a program slated for SEPTEMBER 2020 intake in A-College, and I was approved of a study visa, but due to the PANDEMIC, there is Travel restrictions and Canada is not allowing International Students in, and in this case, my program is not an online program, its strictly in-person (no virtual mode), Infact the program Coordinator stated that.

You will be required to be on campus to complete the requirements for so so program this fall and if you do not already have a VISA then you will not be permitted to partake the program in September 2020.

Unfortunately, the next available intake will be September 2021

For me Fall 2021 is way too far, So in this case, I saw another school (B-college) who has a FALL 2020 & WINTER 2021 intake, and I applied for the WINTER 2021 intake (Though this program in B-College is a replica of the program in A-College)

My assumptions is that bfor January 2021, the Travel Restrictions should have been lifted by then

My questions goes thus;

- Since I got a study permit approval for a Fall 2020 intake program initially for A-College, how can i use this Approved Study Permit for a Winter 2021 intake program for B-College, and how is it gonna be counted?

- Is there possibility for me to switch DLI on an active Study permit meant for Fall 2020 program @ A-College to a Winter 2021 program @ B-College ?

- Will it be done bfor travelling (ONLINE)
Or its at the Point of Entry in Canada that it will be done?

- What are the factors and things to consider?

- Finally, is there any risk or disadvantage in doing this

Thanks!!!!!!!!

I think you can check the IRCC guidelines then research for the appropriate contact email then send an email with the notice from the school to see if you can get a travel exemption.

i am not a guru in this but i believe the person has a strong case to travel and just needs to do the required process for an approval to travel

My 2kobo is this... You are to send the new admission letter via mail or webform(preferably do the two) to IRCC. Notifying them of the new admission and why you had to change to the new school .. You do that before you liv nigeria..

At the point of entry, the immigration officer will check his/her system which is where the officer will see the new/updated admission letter thereby issuing you a study permit and work permit.
Once you get to the POE, you can't do any changes cos they follow what is on the immigration data about you...

@Lekiboboe kindly refer me to the page where you answered me on Affidavit of Sponsorship and Police Clearance Certificate. Where you gave the address and documents needed.
I intend to accomplish them this week.

Thanks alot

Any other person who can assist me with this details, please do.

Lastly, with this new IRCC rule for Fall applicants, is it safe to apply for my study permit now for Winter 2021?
Thanks alot

One year masters and some feeding allowance. You can supplement it with On campus jobs like late night cleaning. There are one year professional masters, particularly in Engineering, that are about $16,000 CAD Tuition. However, for your visa, you will still need to prove that you can pay that plus $10,000 feeding allowance for a single person with no dependent. Note that the cleaning work had reduce because most people are not allowed on campus due to COVID. The job also get “man know man”, Oyinbo like to call it Networking and recommendations, in some schools. All the best.
thanks for shedding light on this issue, I actually checked various schools throughout the day, the prices I was seeing wasn't encouraging at all. I really do appreciate big bro.

From my research, there are tuition fees ranging from 9k-30k and more .It all depends on your program and duration of study. Google studyportal or visit the website of a number of Canadian Universities of interest and check their Cost breakdown. I am sure u will get more clarity on your question.
N.B: Living expenses as per IRCC is 10k CAD.

Thanks man, I browsed through a lot of school sites today, the fees were overwhelming. The money I have should be able to cater for my school fees but I'll need a lot of cash to cater for basic needs.. I'm still considering, thanks once again.

Please house, I'd appreciate some explanations on this subject. Severally, I've heard people emphasize that Canadian Universities only accept 2.1 for Masters programme, while on the other hand, some 2.2 CGPA( say 3.41/5 up to .49) end up getting 3.0/4.0 or above after WES evaluation which is the minimum acceptable CGPA for most Universities. Do these Universities grant admission with evaluated result or our naija result?

I asked this cos my brother's CGPA which was initially 2.96/5 came out 2.98/4 after evaluation, and he's currently running his Masters in the US. I think i should be able to run a master's programme with CGPA of 3.46/5 after WES evaluation. Please someone should throw more light on this before I make the wrong decision.

Ahhhh...
But US is not Canada na.

First of all US and Canada are not the same so why would you want to compare both?
it is like saying schools in UK takes 3rd class graduates for masters, therefore schools in other places would also do so if you can do an evaluation of your certificate. Forgetting the schools have their own admission guidelines.

To piggy back off that, some schools in US can even take a 3rd class degree in for masters especially if you have work experience. Not so much so in Canada.

Moreover, schools are independent institutions and what persists in one school may not necessarily occur in another school even within same county, talk more of schools being in a separate country. You have to do a lot of research and digging to find out schools that may have similar admission requirements across borders.

As for WES, some schools in US and in Canadian do not use WES cos they rely on your transcript and not WES evaluation in making decisions.
However if you think you should be able to run your masters, then go ahead and do a WES eval, and then send it in for your application.

I would also advise that you contact the schools of your choice and just find out your admission chances with what you have. That way you will know what to do exactly.

Shalom.

Good morning everyone
I have a few questions
1. Can I still do upfront medical after I have submitted my application ?
2.If yes how do I notify ircc about it?
3. How long does medical last?
4. what’s the cost of doing medical at Q-life,how do I contact them and how long does it take for the result to be out?
5) What do they test for in medical?

Kindly help please.

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Sanovsky007(m): 8:00am On Jul 20, 2020
please verify if your school requires WES evaluation(canada). I never did any evaluation, just submitted my transcript like that and i was given admision.

Insanity:

Is the WES course by course ICAP evaluation a requirement by your university of interest? If no, then you submitting it won't matter in your application. Admission requirements for US and Canadian schools are very different, I applied to University of Regina with my WES 3.4/4.0 GPA and was rejected, mind you WES was and still is among their requirements.
If the school you want is requesting for a WES evaluated Transcript and your WES Transcript is within their cutoff, mostly 3.0/4.0, go ahead and apply. But if they are not, and you apply with the WES Transcript hoping to get an advantage, you just wasted your money.

This is based on my personal experience and I might be wrong.

Goodluck.
