I was actually expecting to read that entire money was given to the family and then they have to give the lady something. I am glad it was done wisely. Or one should assume that the player himself decided who should get what since he must have identified the beneficiaries when filling the insurance form. This is typical for life insurance. I supposed most Nigerians are not used to this. The insurance payment must have been issued by an insurance company. So, it seem Rangers must have been paying insurance premiums for each of the players. Great idea to attract best players.

not necessarily insurance, rangers game lost players in the past some got injuries they couldn't recover from, during training , you see players go with their partners to matches too, the management and colleagues aren't ignorant of this too, Nigerian players don't get insured.

The money is not directly from the club, but from a Life Assurance arm of an Insurance company. The club obviously insured all their players. Go and educate yourself on how it works.

I think its the tradition in Igbo land if you don't pay dowry on a lady no matter how many children you get,the woman is a girl friend and the children can be taken back by the woman's people if they wish. Marriage is a religion in igboland it has really propelled Igbo to being focused and determined on their endeavours as there are no girl friends, mistresses and children rented apartments for .

Interest in fix deposit is shit, but the longterm safety of the money is more important than interest.
It may be in dollar denominations, who knows.

Nice that the insurance paid up. But the formula nor too work for me. At 2.5 to 5m should have been in trust until the child is 18 or 21 years old.

Anybody, including a parent and other relatives can be reckless with money. 3 to 4m will educate the child up to 1st degree if well managed. So some millions should have been kept away to give her as an adult.

I also wonder if disclosing the sum publicly won't endanger the family.

An Igbo Prof rented my aunty's house/nearby for his Igbo oyinbo pepper girlfriend. Because of the age difference we believed for years that he was actually a blood uncle as they pretended to be related.
