Yes, but to get a tokunbo car at that price will be a bit hard 'cause the dealer may bring a Nigerian used car and remove plate number to claim toks or the told car might be an auctioned car that was badly accidented. Also depends on the kind of car you want.

No car dealer will ever do such, you can't register a car for plate number twice because Road safety has a data base, besides its a criminal offence and such person goes to jail

Am told that this Toyota corolla 09 normally has AC issues after sometime and it's likely to be factory fault. I really need to know about this because am interested in getting this around next week. Was using the 03 model and wanted opting for the 06/07 but they all have same mould/trim. That's why the 09 is considered a good upgrade.

Any ideas?

Yes you are right. Some 2008 corolla comes with the shape of the old 03 corolla. It is also possible that the car was manufactured late 2007 and they called it 2008.

The AC issue has to do with the compressor. The car usually come with automatic compressor. But once the compressor develops a fault they will advice you to buy a manual compressor. The only explanation I got was that our weather is different. But I strongly believe that the manufacturer that chose an automatic compressor is not stupid.

Ok sir, so that means once the compressor is changed, that's all? And does the earlier models come with manual compressors?
Overall what's your advise?
To go for the 06/07 model or still go for the 09?

Go for the 09. The trim is lovely. You can also drive the car for 5yrs without having this compressor issue. The 06/07 is too vulnerable to vandalisation because it is Uber favourite hence the parts are hot cake.

So all these adverts of toks toyota corolla 04 - 07 model on auto section of Nairaland going for 1.3 - 1.6m are all fake?

Can you up your budget to 1.95? You would get this 07 corolla for that. Personally for me except a naija used car is in pristine condition or pre certified would I spend 1.5m on it. I would rather save up or cut a deal for a toks.
