Corruption is the major reason I want to leave or I left, you see man know man ehn, I went to Abuja I got intel of vacancy I went there and after passing 2 offices the third guy was surprised he said how did you get here? The 4th office was the big man's office, top govmt office holder,

Wait! how did you even know about this job? The p.a asked, I told him not to worry he should just submit my documents, he asked haven't you submitted your document through the normal link before? I wanted to lie but I said the truth, he told me forget it oga already knows your name, if I can remember your name I'm sure he can too,

To cut the long story short my name is a south south name very English the oga is a northern muslim and he wanted to put his boys in the positions. and it wasn't advertised so very few people with Intel applied, So there was no how he would even mistakenly accept me.

I went with smarts(as cunny man/sharp guy), good university result and small connection and insider info, but it still felt like I was punching above my weight class, I was qualified even more than the people who were eventually selected but I wasn't as connected as them. One of the guy who got it came with nothing his aunt told him come I will put you there so he just hurriedly came without documents, he came empty handed we chatted abit he told me who his aunt is and he asked me whose connect am I using that was when I knew there was a problem, I am not a total nobody back in my state, but in Abuja I am a nobody I wanted something new, I was tired of my state I wanted job without parents or family help but it wasn't possible, This also links to tribalism and upward mobility

Other reasons are our currency has no value, insecurity and religious extremism

Value of work, upward mobility also we keep electing stupid people as politicians, I mean thief's, thugs, the worst amongst us yet we celebrate them shamelessly and finally I cannot wait till I am 80 to enjoy the benefits of a developed society, I want to experience it while I am young.

Small explanation:
If you make even 10,000usd a month and send half of that back to naija that's 2 million naira a month in Nigeria you cannot find 2 million naira job without doing something evil or connection, luck, hardwork, being from a wealthy family and much more combined

Religious extremism people are getting locked up for thinking, reading and analysing the quran on their own or online, Nigeria is gradually becoming Afghanistan https://amp.theguardian.com/world/2020/jul/27/wife-of-mubarak-bala-detained-nigerian-humanist-plea-for-information

A cleaner in Nigeria can never safe enough or work hard enough to become a surgeon general impossible, in most of the abroad cleaners, taxi drivers, road sweepers become doctors, graduates, professors even migrants become mayor's, council men and so on In Nigeria it is rare for a Nigerian whose parents are born in one state to become something in another state except in Rivers state and Lagos the case of the lady chief judge in Akwa ibom and Calabar comes to mind, to us outsiders they are the same but to them they are very different, I once had a chat with a cross River person who thought everything wrong with Cross River was thanks to Akwa ibom people and esp. girls giving Cross River esp. Calabar a bad name and reputation.

Politicians commissioning leg bridge and giving out plastic buckets and legs as empowerment program while building one fence for their office at 200 million naira, and paying themselves paliatives of 1.5billion naira yet nobody protests, nobody is assassinated, Nigerians just make memes about it and laugh it off, someone pretends to faint and that's all.

In saner societies people would be jailed for just one of these. Meanwhile we recycle these criminals from 8 years as house of reps member to 8 years as governor to 8 years as minister to 8 years as senator I don't have 40 or 50 years to wait before it MAY get to me so I'd try my luck elsewhere, while keeping my eyes and heart at home.

if you think that Nigeria is the only country with issues then go ask any of the black innocent men (who died at the hands of bastard racist cops in the US), if they feel the same way as you do.

thats because you wrongly believe that you cant be poor in the west... sadly, only the day you will ever land in the west will you now understand how wrong you were. here is a clue: people from all over the world (Asia, Africa, South America, Europe etc) want to emigrate to the US. do you really believe ALL of them have a great life the minute they land there?!

Racism is POVERTY OF THE MIND!

bro, as much as the US is a great nation, if you aint got no health insurance, probably the same will happen to her. nobody will treat people for free. yes in some European countries you would get free healthcare, but certainly not in the US.

remember, one of the good part of the west is that people pay huge amount of money in taxes (up to 20-30% of our salary) thus the great environment that comes with it, couple with good leadership. if the leaders fukc up, people go to the streets and demand for a quick change. Nigeria can be the same, you only need to demand for better leadership OR take action.

I noticed that. The way he even structured it "if you make even $10K...", baba thinks $10K is 10K naira. That's an annual salary of 120K, a salary that is possible in Nigeria but with sheer hard work, skills and knowledge. In some industries, it's only the management that earn such. Meanwhile, in other industries, mid-tier or slightly above entry-level earn that but the skills and knowledge required don't make it so simple. Earning that abroad will obtaining relevant degrees/certifications, years of quality work experience and social capital. It's doable but we shouldn't make $10K look so easy or normal. Even $5K isn't common sef.

where would you make 10k dolls a month? you know how many years or the quality of skill youve honed to rack up that?

Medicine, law, software developer, manager, pharmacists, data scientist, finance manager, architect, risk manager, tax manager, actors, sports people, musicians, etc

Most of these take less than 3 years to become certified except for medicine and you earn over 200k USD a year or 10k USD a month some earn less but those are mostly fresh grads or people working for start ups and new firms

In Nigeria these guys don't even earn 500k naira a month, not even Magistrates or DPO earns 500k naira a month, I don't want to disgrace my people but I have to say the truth I'm a lawyer I know lawyers who are paid 8k/10k naira per month I also know law firms on the island in Lagos that pay lawyers 50k naira despite knowing cost of rent & transportation on the island or to the island.

Doctors are the same I know doctors that act as touts they take clients from govmt hospitals or stand at other private hospitals and woo or lure patients away to their friends hospital or a hospital they have access to its facilities especially dentists then they operate on you and charge you no receipts, no records nothing signed just non recorded treatments and surgery's no documents signed nothing

But they will never tell outsiders this do you know how many jobless doctors we have? The med schools graduate hundreds in each state but the state hospital can only take 4 per year private hospitals don't employ doctors every year so the remaining 100+ young doctors are left unemployed

I can keep listing oh I know bankers who work for big banks and count millions every day in Nigeria but they earn just 30k a month.

Imagine a lawyer in USA earning 20 dollars per month in USA

Or a banker earning 51canadian dollars monthly in Canada

Impossible, that is why TB Joshua's daughter went abroad to be called to the California bar, that is why many pastors, big men, politicians children work and reside abroad

with the 3years in school to become a lawyer they earn more and enjoy life than someone who suffered 7 years to become a lawyer in Nigeria

in USA the bar exam can be waived for you, the exam can be taken on your laptop and you have access to reference materials you can use during the exam, here in Nigeria you cram every law and every case and hope what you cram comes out, the exam can never ever be waived for whatever reason not even covid or Jesus returning the lecturers want you to fail so you don't come and drag clients with them. After going through that your seniors and owners of law firms fraustrate you you handle a case of millions and your oga will tell the client you know my boy did all the work fund him something the client will say but we agreed I would pay you 150k and I have paid the senior lawyer will say oga forget that thing just find the boy small something and the client will say ok I didnt plan for this so manage this and hand the young lawyer 3k

Even bus drivers make more than these professionals

Look young man they don't pick money abroad but with the work the average Nigerian puts into his or her work and private business if he or she was in a saner climes his or her work would be priced higher.

In Nigeria criminals earn more than hard working professionals I don't want to reveal too much but rivers people know a certain top cultist who the governor is paying millions to so his boys will calm down

Boko haram members, militants, kidnappers, politicians are the once making all the cash not bankers, not lawyers and so on

My argument is if you qualify as a professional abroad in places like USA, Canada, Australia etc 5k a month is very possible with experience 10k a month is possible

If you think I am lying look at Glassdoor dot com

The salary of a first year attorney fresh out of university is $118,000 us dollars per year

Corporate lawyers, litigation counsels and so on earn more than that for their first year and with just 3 years experience they earn over 120k per year

It's a similar case in Canada, Australia and many other countries.

The poorest lawyers the most unfortunate the lowest I have seen or heard of is this 80,000usd per year by this news agency and even they report that the median was over 120k and the top 25% of lawyers make over 185k USD a year.

I fear poverty more than racism bro...

Word!!

You are a smart man.

Tribalism and religious intolerance are worse than racism

Imagine a Nigerian man wey done suffer proper Nigerian hardship and poverty, lived in uncompleted building, gone hungry for days, lived without electricity for months, trekked unimaginable distances to fetch water or buy fuel, carried various heavy loads from market or just any manual labour or even sold gala on express.

You forget that We were caned for not bringing hymn book to school and flogged with wood and horse whip or koboko for coming late or not doing assignment, we picked pin under sun for not bringing bible to school or reciting quran, knelt down on chippings with arms raise up and eyes closed and then received surprise strokes if cane from time to time for the general class punishment for making noise, lol

our skins were peeled our buttocks disfigured severally for very useless reasons, one time I was flogged till I couldn't walk I fell trying to run and became paralysed because our house key got lost and as the senior I was to take the most beating, Soldiers in NYSC camp drilled us with buckets of water because one of our room mate said "that one na soldier refering to another room mate who someone said was marching like a soldier" the soldier claimed he was referring to him the soldier and we sat on the floor at night while they water boarded us because to him we refused to sleep instead we were yabbing him.

Most of us here don forget e be like say we done lose concentration oh

With all these suffer we don see and experience how does a Nigerian go from that to Crying because one white boy throws a banana at him or calls him monkey when we dey insult ourselves daily let's even forget the normal tribal insults Afonja, flat head, aboki, militant, terrorist ets

even within the Igbos they know what they call mbaise people, ebonyi people who are Igbos too and so on. in Yoruba land they know what they call ibadan, ekiti people who are also yorubas and so on Hausas know what they call Fulani's and vice versa rivers people know what they call Ogoni people and Ikwerre people, we all know what minister of health thinks of Kogi people.

Even in our families useless boy, look at his head is normal we have normalised ewu, goat, cow, useless man, thunder fire you, Dan duru banka, god punish you and so on so why will monkey pain you? Nigeria has trained you enough

If you want you can even single handedly beat up 2 average white men together if you are sure you won't be deported and you are on clear standing with immigration you can beat them up they aren't as strong as the conductor you drag change with on a daily basis or the police man you open eye for.

Baba I will peel the banana and eat like Dani Alves did, I will just remember where I am coming from, all the suffering I have faced in Naija and smile as they make racist chants, which I will later use as part of my inspirational b.s story to get work or sympathy from the public.

You know that being a victim of racism/discrimination that is publicised automatically gives you a higher chance of getting a job or becoming an activist for any organisation near you look at Malala, rahaf Alqunun, and co. Just being victims gave them fame, job and small money

There is also one black girl I can't remember her name she went for an interview and the interviewer guy texted his boss you texted back "we don't want those type of people here" people donated cash for her and gave her a better higher paying job

I'm not saying racism is good oh but Nigeria should have thickened your skin by now and strengthened you.

How many Nigerians are victims of racism or police brutality abroad ? Nigerians are the highest earning and most educated demographics in USA, UK and other countries in Europe and even Africa.

The average Nigerian knows how to take advantage of the system abroad, knows how to behave and blend and endure and make the most of his situation as required in every case.

one time black americans were protesting that Nigerians are taking all the spots for black people in American universities esp the top universities remember the time Just last year every black medical doctor graduate from Harvard university was a Nigerian 46 out of 96 of the 27 awards Nigerians took 16.

I am sure you can pick any Nigerian off Niaraland send him or her abroad and they will compete and excel in any field of their choice they put their mind to

Forget racism when the time is right the racism will even favour you just position yourself well to take advantage of it that's all.

To be honest you can earn 500,000usd or even 1million a month as a lawyer as a dentist as a banker as an accountant and so on abroad especially if you have worked 10 to 15 years in the company you will be made a partner

Silas Adekunle is the highest paid robotics engineer in the world I don't need to tell you that he is Nigerian nor do I need to tell you that he doesn't work in Nigeria he has been earning between 7.5 million and 10million us dollars yearly

The reason I only my focused on law is because that is my field but other fields pay even more than law

However, I can not decieve you or assure you that you will make 1m USD a month or 10m like Adekunle so that is why I used 10k and 5k ofcos people make less than that and are very comfortable but I used that figure because it appeals to me as someone who will love to build something back home in Africa and to me that figure is achievable and can also help you build school, house, or any other small or medium scale business I like back in Africa.

Chris rock once said he is neighbors with Jay z and some other people that he is one of the greatest comedians and jay z is one of the greatest rappers but their neighbours are ordinary people his own next door neighbor is a dentist he isn't the greatest dentist of all time just a regular dentist.
How did a dentist afford that place? he doesn't know, he finds it hard to believe a guy can make that much money from pulling teeth out of people's mouths

It is possible to make millions monthly like ogunlesi but It is not common so I will instead tell you that you can make the median and lowest salary, it is up to you to work your way up and God to butter your bread if you want more that's all

But I want you to know that people earn such outrageous salaries for lawyers look at what these law firms pay their lawyers Kirkland & Ellis, Latham & Watkins, Baker McKenzie, DLA Piper, skaddem, dentons Nigerians work in these law firms, there are over 200 law firms worldwide that pay their lawyers 500,000usd a month none is in west Africa, in skaddem first year associates make 200k per year every law firm I listed has that as the lowest paid others earn 250 to 300k as first year salary and 300k to 500k as 3rd year salary and you can guess the rest

in Japan the lowest starting salary for lawyers even if you graduate with pass is 100,000usd or 10million yen bug firms pay twice that amount but I know you have to give up your Nigerian citizenship to become Japanese and there aren't many Nigerians in Japan so I didnt mention Japan, you also need to speak a little Japanese.

Like I said other professionals like doctors earn more than lawyers

But let us even forget professionals Uber drivers in UK earn 300,000naira weekly for working 40hours a week, in USA they make 11.7milliin naira per year as Uber drivers you can use that as side hustle while you position yourself for better things it's just 40 hours a week which is less than a little less than 2 out of 7 days that is weekend hustle while you go do something else during week days.

where would you make 10k dolls a month? you know how many years or the quality of skill youve honed to rack up that?

I make more than that a month. I don't have many years of skill. I actually have only about 3 years of skill.

US isn't naija. And no, I am not a doctor.

It all depends on your hustle.

Like I said, it depends on your hustle. Lazy people don't earn that kind of money. And yes, I worked my ass. I always work my ass off. You don't earn that a month by sitting on your ass except you are stealing from NDDC grin

Hello bro,

if you don't mind, you can drop hint on the field you are working for others to be aware and work towards it.

If it is as a programmer, then, all is good.
