Good morning guys, I'm relatively new to d ride sharing world and I must say I've learned vital lessons just from reading a few pages here. I am employed but I'm a low income earner (less than 100k/month)but my responsibilities far outweigh my current income and my job leaves me with about 4 days a week which I can use for more gainful ventures. I work in ikorodu and live around Oshodi/sango Ota. I need your help on how much the weekly rental on an average vehicle is at the moment or weekly pay for HP as I'm considering either options. Also if you have a vehicle I'd be grateful to hear from you too.
I've recently gotten my driver's license.
Thanks

Took one rude girl from gbagada to ikeja. Price was N1,200. On Bolt. Both of us had quarrel from d express to her destination. When she paid me,, I had to swear for Bolt cos if I receive this kind insult and rider paid N2,500. I’ll be happy not receiving insult on peanut, yet they plan of reducing it more. Ok no problem. I’m waiting. One, I won’t put on AC. Two, if u insult me I end trip and drop u. Three, if u no take time I might injure u. Four, ur life will be at risk if u don’t respect urself.
That’s why u can’t do uber or Bolt and be successful in Nigeria. Their commission is very high. Fare is so cheap. If u Gross 12k on Bolt a day, ur profit is 6k that is if u drive ur own car. now traffic are everywhere so how do u complete d more rides. Even with d current price at times u won’t be able to off ur app cos request keep coming. I prefer to do 4 trips a day that will give me 10k or more, than doing 10 useless trips. At this juncture, we need a union. #unionforuberboltdriver

If u gross 12k on Bolt a day, Deduct 20% commission. Deduct fuel, feeding, calls, data, wear & tear. Maintenance, u will see ur actual profit a day is 6k if u drive ur own car. But if u are on rentals ur profit is 3k. Any thing I gross on Bolt, I always divide it by two to get my actual profit a day so I’ll know how to spend for that day.

My candid advice. I dont think you can opt for either HP or rental with your job. If you go for HP, you will have to dip into your salary to pay which i dont think it's worth it considering you already have a job. There is no need going for HP, it will only amount to working for the owner because of the outrageous price (almost double) you will pay for the car.

It would have been easier if you have your own car which you can use to work on off days.

It is even better you go for loan, say 800k, and get yourself a good naija used car to work (since you have a job) than doing HP.

DONT GO FOR HP, THOSE WHO DRIVE FULL TIME ARE EVEN HAVING HARD TIMES COMPLETING THE HP CONTRACTUAL PERIOD.

Good luck

Lol I support this post 100%. On the issue of AC, I chose trips I switch on my AC the few times I have done uber this period. If I notice I'm with a rude rider, na heat go kill you there. I won't even touch my AC except I start feeling hot myself. Lol. And for short stupid trips, as a rule, I don't switch on my AC, also, when a rider is not wearing mask properly, AC is turned off. The fares are fxxcking too low. You have to do the best you can to reduce cost.

[s][/s]I don't think bolt proposed penetrative pricing strategy is entirely a bad idea on itself. IMHO!!

Uber did that some years back and it was able to get more people to catch the e hailing drift at the time cos many saw e hailing as an expensive transport option until prices came down and more people got into the bucket .Prices would gradually be increased without riders knowing.

It makes absolutely know sense queing to pay 1 k per head from say agbado ijaiye to Oshodi in a rickety bus while 3 of us can ride share an e-cab for about same amount with all the comfort, safety and security that goes with it.

More rides means more money whichever way you see it,it's all about volume,IMHO!!

I am pretty certain there will be incentives for drivers in form of bonuses to make up for the differential.

And those shouting Uber is the next bae, Uber reduced fares back then and never reduced commissions and heaven did not fall and I am not sure it would anytime soon cool

Something we bolt don make up dia mind to implement, only thinking of small incentives to take cover una eyes.

They will do it and nothing go happen, the worst you can do is go off dia app and they don't care.

Sorry about this, tho you have your share of blame, there's nowhere Uber stated payment via transfer, so it will be hard to give you attention. But on the other hand, since you have the debit alert, why not reach out to Uber and clear yourself by showing your prove of payment. No cause for alarm, its just a battle to prove who is on the right side between you and the driver.

northbird:
.

Sincerely, d driverr mite not see d alert text. Some drivers don't have their bank app to check balance.

Some credit alert text comes in like 16 hrs later after you hv seen money drop thru d bank app.

Send a screenshot of the transaction to an Uber rep.

But, you also abused d system, it was a cash transaction, so you hv no excuses. Use your card next tym, it's Uber, it's safe.

I disagree with the both of you on this, this rider im question did no wrong, he asked the driver right before the trip started if he accept tra transfer and he said yes so where was he wrong here?

Every driver is expected and advised to have a car charger for themselves and their riders, me I've a iPhone, Samsung and BB cord for both myself and my riders so what the driver ought to have done was to offer his rider a charging cord to get his phone charged so he can pay him his money right there b4 leaving. Rider was even kind enough to tip him extra 1k.

Yes, we all know alert can take some times reason why it is also advised you have the app for right check. Driver ourght to have been patient and have some respect instead he went ahead and report rider hasn't paid.

Thats wrong.

I strongly believe Bolt has concluded plans to launch bolt economy.

The survey is just a smokescreen. I mean how
Can you be asking for wat % of price reduction in ur questionnaire Wen in d first question, I told you I don't dig the bolt economy.

Which Nigerian rider in his/her right senses will pick "lite" when economy is available. They should keep their incentives, I don't need it.

Not quite true, yes there are obviously sratches and minor dents but nothing major except for full suspension overhaul which he is taking care of and need I say that the odometer reading on all the cars is less than 100k.

The problem is that he got into the business at a wrong time and his expectations fell short with rentals,so he is backtracking and switching to HP.

2 no's 06 and 07 Camry and 1 manual 07 Corolla, you can go have a look and possibly make an offer to buy if interested.

What are you saying? that he accepts transfers means what? How many drivers have a choice in dt situation.

Oh.... So cos a fuel station accepts POS. If the transaction doesn't clear with them, they will go ahead n still dispense fuel Ba.

The service has been rendered and payment shd b immediate. That's why a card option is available.

I use an android n I have a cable n a car charger for that.

If u r a rider n use android, good. If you use iPhone. Well sorry, I can't help.

My JD is to pick u up safely from point A to point B.

Something similar has been launched in South Africa lastweek. Nigeria is about to follow suit.

Since you will not be driving full time, don't think of rentals. You will just be working for Uber/bolt and the car owner. If you have your own car only then will it be a good side hustle for you

I only gave my opinion looking at it from a business point of view, mind you a buyer and a seller's point of views aren't always the same.

I will be the last to break any sweat or bother myself with whatever strategy bolt or Uber deploys to gain advantage.

If something isn't working for you, drop it and seek alternative or better still find ways to stay afloat. It's absolutely pointless complaining.

And that my friend, is exactly what the car owner did.

Why will I buy charger for rider, on the peanut they're paying.. am I mad? Before when the fare was manageable I used to have expensive chewing gums not until one olosho just pack more than half into her bag, I noticed after she left since then it's N10 chewing gum.
Then when price was slashed I removed my N10 gum too, riders will be paying peanuts and be expecting premium service lol.
One female rider once asked me... Why don't you have iPhone charger.. I don't use iPhone.. case closed
