Because they are brave enough to fight for our collective right unlike cowards who run and let millions of their people die.. many years after the cowards are not remembered while the brave heroes get rail stations named after them, currency used in immotalising them and their kinsmen enjoying power unlike the marginalised people

Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos

Chief Olabode George, a former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said the year 2023 will be the end of the political dynasty in Lagos that has been holding the citizens hostage since the return of democratic rule in 1999.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with INDEPENDENT, George who is the Atona Oodua of Yorubaland said the ‘O to Ge’ Movement that ended the Saraki political dynasty in Kwara state will happen in Lagos in 2023.

He particularly singled out Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos and national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) whom he accused of being a stranger but has appropriated all the resources of the state for his use.

“By 2023, I will be getting closer to 80. We will invoke the spirit of our forefathers. O to ge! We will do whatever is humanly possible to get those things back to the people.

“He (Tinubu) will not sit down in his room and be dictating who will be Speaker, Governor, senators and all that. We will invoke the spirit of the founding fathers, the original people of Lagos against all these greedy people”.

George who lamented the suffering of Lagosians, especially civil servants in the state also condemned the outrageous retirement benefits of governors in the state beginning from Tinubu, saying civil servants who served the state government meritoriously for 35 years don’t receive one per cent of what the governors get as retirement benefits.

“After appropriating all the resources of Lagos to themselves, when they retire, go and see their retirement benefits. Even civil servants who retire after 35 years don’t get one per cent of what they receive as retirement benefits.

“Two big houses in posh areas in Lagos, two big houses in posh areas in Abuja, apart from the number of cars they will be buying and changing for them every year. Common!
“If the late Brig.Gen. Mobolaji Johnson had done that if Papa Lateef Jakande did that and all the other governors had done that, what will be left. What is political management in this democratic dispensation? It is the complete management of the resources of that land for the benefit of the people, not for himself or his family. Enough is enough! O To Ge”.

“Lagos is like New York, a melting pot and the culture of Lagos people because it is a trading port, we respect people and don’t discriminate. Anybody who brings his wares to Lagos to sell will make the money and we are happy.

“Even if you want to land, we give you land to build your house and give you a sense of belonging; but then there must be that modicum of respect for our culture.

“Presently, the governor of Lagos, his deputy, the three senators, the Speaker, all the principal officers, Head of Service, the SSG is not Lagosians. It doesn’t happen in any state of this country except Lagos. It is not fair. We’ve had governors in the past who are not Lagosians but they will pay homage to the owners of the land,” he said.

Stupid elewon. The same man that claims Tinubu is not from Lagos is the same man that presented 5 Igbos for the Lagos state house of assembly in 2015 and 2019. I wonder what part of Lagos those came from.
I'm a true child of Lagos and son of Lagos State . I'll stand with Tinubu any day any time before I'll stand with the fools in the PDP including this old convict.

nokatakata:
Why wait till 2023 for o to ge? Why are people wasting their time focusing on Tinubu who is neither a governor, minister, senator, commissioner, LG chairman?

Lagosians should know their representatives and hold them accountable. LG chairman, house of rep members both state and federal, commissioners should be receiving serious beating regularly. We should stop listening to useless rumours of Tinubu this and that. Tinubu is not the local govt chairman of iru or amuwo local govt for example. The people living in Lagos should wake up and start to attack their representatives. If you have to go violent, do it..by the time you start holding them by the balls, they will either resign or tell you the reason they are not performing. Tinubu is not in another, Kaduna, Enugu, Anambra, Osun, Oyo and all these states including Lagos are no where near developed. It is the same stealing all over nigeria. Abi na Tinubu dey NDDC? We need to stop chasing shadows and focus. Focus on that person that is holding the position. Focus on that person who should fix roads, hospitals, education at the grass root and state level before running to federal. Tinubu will die like many other politicians and nothing will change. How can you be paying taxes and all kinds of levies and refuse to hold your governor, LG chairman, house of rep members responsible, only to be chanting Tinubu up and down. It is the same thing in other state, you abandon your grass root leaders and be shouting Buhari up and down .
God bless you

Unfortunately, his willing slaves will not agree with you sir. Tinubu is a God in Yorubaland. He decides who gets what. Lagos is the only State whose citicens worship a man more than they worship God. Infact, the nairaland zomebies can even fight God because of tinubu. His slaves love him. They enjoy the bondage they are in. Infact, they hate any Yoruba man that opposes their god. Bode George should allow Lagosians serve their god in peace before they begin to call him IPOB.

Baba George probably want to ensure his children also has a cut in Lagos cake before he dies.
You will be disappointed that if Tinubu should give these Baba's their way, the masses will not even see the bone crumps.

Are you minding the foolish old man?

If left for people like Bode Goerge, GEJ and his Igbo cabinet would have removed the Yoruba race completely from Nigeria's politics. Even Eko would have been lost to outsiders under guise of party.

Although noone is perfect but Tinubu is a quality leader just like pa Awolowo and other great Yoruba sons. It's because of him that Yorubas have key positions in government today. Bode George is just a nuisance that lacks leadership sense, only whipping sentiment here and there.

The ship has sailed, by 2023 only Yorubas will occupy. legislative seats and governmemt. positions in South West (Yorubaland). Any igbo that wants to take part in politics should go back to alaigbo and rule over his/her people.

how did they end up?
1. Rat Poison
2. Tea.
What did they die for? Nothing. What exactly did they fight?
1. Was charged with treason. No Battle. Jailed in calabar prison. Released, was almost jailed before he drank otapiapia. Battle front? None.
2. A thief who embezzled money meant for I.T.T projects. Sponsored coups. Contested an election , was annulled. Ran away. Was advised to come back by his backstabbing people. Died I. Prison without lifting a finger nor shot a gun efen if it's locally made. His obas collected money and he was killed like a pickpocket.
I fail to see the "Fight" these men went into. Unless the coward Yoruba have another definition of "fight". grin
