Chief Olabode George, a former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said the year 2023 will be the end of the political dynasty in Lagos that has been holding the citizens hostage since the return of democratic rule in 1999.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with INDEPENDENT, George who is the Atona Oodua of Yorubaland said the ‘O to Ge’ Movement that ended the Saraki political dynasty in Kwara state will happen in Lagos in 2023.

He particularly singled out Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos and national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) whom he accused of being a stranger but has appropriated all the resources of the state for his use.

“By 2023, I will be getting closer to 80. We will invoke the spirit of our forefathers. O to ge! We will do whatever is humanly possible to get those things back to the people.

“He (Tinubu) will not sit down in his room and be dictating who will be Speaker, Governor, senators and all that. We will invoke the spirit of the founding fathers, the original people of Lagos against all these greedy people”.

George who lamented the suffering of Lagosians, especially civil servants in the state also condemned the outrageous retirement benefits of governors in the state beginning from Tinubu, saying civil servants who served the state government meritoriously for 35 years don’t receive one per cent of what the governors get as retirement benefits.

“After appropriating all the resources of Lagos to themselves, when they retire, go and see their retirement benefits. Even civil servants who retire after 35 years don’t get one per cent of what they receive as retirement benefits.

“Two big houses in posh areas in Lagos, two big houses in posh areas in Abuja, apart from the number of cars they will be buying and changing for them every year. Common!
“If the late Brig.Gen. Mobolaji Johnson had done that if Papa Lateef Jakande did that and all the other governors had done that, what will be left. What is political management in this democratic dispensation? It is the complete management of the resources of that land for the benefit of the people, not for himself or his family. Enough is enough! O To Ge”.

“Lagos is like New York, a melting pot and the culture of Lagos people because it is a trading port, we respect people and don’t discriminate. Anybody who brings his wares to Lagos to sell will make the money and we are happy.

“Even if you want to land, we give you land to build your house and give you a sense of belonging; but then there must be that modicum of respect for our culture.

“Presently, the governor of Lagos, his deputy, the three senators, the Speaker, all the principal officers, Head of Service, the SSG is not Lagosians. It doesn’t happen in any state of this country except Lagos. It is not fair. We’ve had governors in the past who are not Lagosians but they will pay homage to the owners of the land,” he said.

The kind of juju tinibu is using to remain in control of lagos since 1999 must be a very potent one.

Bode George problem is envy.

What is the total population of the original Lagosians compare with non Lagosians?

Your strategy would not work bcoz Asiwaju doesn't take decisions alone and secondly, he's a good listener.

No doubt, George is in serious pains.

The sacrifices of our heroes, who died for the Yoruba course gave us the Presidency in 1999 and 2003. Vice President in 2015 and 2019. We shall rule again in 2023. Yoruba son and daughters are everywhere in every sector in Nigeria now. But ur own Biafra and Presidency you dreamt of will never come and we won’t fail to vote for another northerner for president again just to spite you igbos.

This is almost impossible.

Simple Machiavellian strategy.

He who has monopoly over violence, controls the state.

There's a reason touts are continuously imported to Lagos from Ibadan and other parts of yorubaland.

Efcc cannot even go to ikoyi and pick up tinubu.

He has held the state hostage with his touts.

If you try to use the polls to remove his stooges in power, his touts will disrupt the election by harassing voters or snatching ballot boxes.

The real Lagosians are in a very tight corner.

Chief Bode George, a serial loser in the politics of Lagos state has shown to the owners of the Land that he lacks moral and respect for them by handing out through purchase, the tickets of House of representatives, State House of Assembly, and LG chairmanship to people who have lost morals in the search of wealth and holds no connection and ancestral lineage or link traceable to any subgroup, whether Awori, Ijebus, Badagry and others or the Culture of the Yoruba people, at large.

He has numerously favoured them with positions of authority without possessing any clout or control over them. These people after getting these buyout, condescend low to attack, disregard and alienate every indigenes of the Land.

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on the other hand, has brought together the Yorubas under a long-term political strategy that transcends beyond subdivisions and subgroups while making total reference to the Oba of Lagos and other notable traditional rulers of the state.

During one of his campaigns in Lagos, infront of thousands of people, he put his hands inside his agbada pocket, brought out his handkerchief, waving it on vigorously before the lagosians crowd, he said to them,
"Do you see the handkerchief I am holding", the crowd shouted ye. He gave out an evil ridden smile with his eyes popping out in a great bulging, like that of an old wounded owl. He went ahead and said to the crowd,
"This handkerchief is Lagos people"
The people ignorantly applauded him not even understanding where he was going.
He put the handkerchief inside his pocket and said lastly, "Lagosians are right inside my pocket". This statement was made on a live Tv during one of his campaigns at Vining Church field near police barrack ikeja. Are you also bewitched? A land where one MAN controls the destiny of a tribe and some of his tribal people will castigating other few tribes men that got the voice to tell them the Truth.

What fucking truth guy? Are you mad.
That was the truth you were telling in 2015 and we voted buhari. Bastards...The peace in Lagos just okay for us. Everybody makes money and can become anything. We are not in anarchy like the north or confused like the east because we have just a single leader, who is a thief and we like it like that.

When did Lagos become the capital of Yorubaland? Ibadan as far we remember is regional capital of the SW. Lagos is our national commonwealth and would remain so till the end. And moreover, if anyone should decide the fate of Lagos, it is it's indigenes — the likes of Bode George etc, not foreigners from Irabiiji.
Tinubu who introduced division and sectarianism in 21st century Lagos will live and see Lagos return back to what it was.
good you have the same mentality with Bode George Tinubuphobia has drained sense comot you head .you are talking as if Bode George had ever win any election in Lagos before? If you as a yorubaman, see nothing wrong in tinubu controlling Lagos state and filling the lagos state government with non-lagosians, hence marginalizing and suppressing the true lagosians, then you have no right to criticize buhari for filling his cabinet with fulanis. You have no right to criticize the north for their greed for power.

By 2023 and beyond, the north will hold on to power because of your greed.

Same way Anambra, Abia, Enugu, Imo and Ebonyi are for Nigerians and not Igbos.

Reason Yorubas, Hausas, Fulanis etc. must move out to the above mentioned states and demand for posts as Nigerians. You think say you wise ba?
You lack understanding
Have those places ever been capital?
If you make any of them capital it automatically belongs to all Nigerians

FYI: The colonialists met traditional rulers in Nigeria. In Sokoto, the Sultan reigns supreme, Alaafin of Oyo reigns in his domain.

In Lagos, The Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs is one body, a total of Fifty-one members drawn from the five divisions of the State. This is backed up by Edict 1969.

Everyone of them is Yoruba with no exception.

The foremost Five presently are;

1. Oba Riliwanu Babatunde Akiolu
Title: Oba of Lagos
Post: Permanent Chairman

2. Oba Raufu Adeniyi Matemi Amore
Title: Olu of Ikeja

3. Oba S. A. A. Oyefusi (Oguntade II)
Title: Ayangburen of Ikorodu

4. Oba A. O. Adesanya
Title: Alara of Ilara

5. De Aholu Menu-Toyi I
Title: Akran of Badagry Kingdom

Lagos is not a Free town, even at Freetown (Sierra Leone), there is a traditional ruler which signifies indigenous and aboriginal ownership. kiss

Lagos already has a slogan.its o t'ope

I wud like to see a change in governance in Lagos State bt definitely not from bode George or this current Pdp. They are like a pack of thieves hungry yo eat their own share than people bringing anything better or new.

When we see sm1/people better and responsible to take over from this highly corrupt bt averagely performing Apc we will know and support them 100% to come into power in Lagos.

Apc is now taking Lagosians loyalty for granted. Look at the roads for months getting to a year now shocked look at the brazen corruption on an increase shocked while performance is on a decrease shocked

For now tinubu is only trying and even on a decline performance, bode George is a confused serial looser bt we are hoping for sm1 of the likes of fashola or a new set of leaders and mindsets to truly change Lagos.
