The chance Nigeria will default on that loan is obvious based on repayment deadline 1. Covid19 pandemic economic downturn 2. Low patronage of Nigeria petroleum due to covid19 pandemic 3. Pure corruption that is a normal thing in Nigeria. The Chinese where not foolish when they sent doctors to treat Chinese workers building Nigerian railways during covid19 pandemic obviously their own investment. What lender will borrow you money and still insist he builds what he lends you for knowing he stands to gain more if you default payment.Nigerian politicians only care for their pockets and myopic with obvious china scheming.

He has already elucidated perfectly.

Ordinarily, China could have no claim to Nigerian property, as all of such would be covered under the principle of sovereignty and territorial integrity.

However the exception to this rule is when a nation incurrs debts in the course of a commercial transaction, the effect is that the sovereignty of that nation is waived with respect to its liability. That does not mean China can take ownership of Nigeria, but it means that Chins can lay claim to some assets belonging to Nigeria.

The only issue I have with this is that the particular property to be claimed is not stated.
You are the first person that typed reasonably and truly understands how it works. Please don't bother educating those ignorant folks. For their ignorance is bliss

So it's wrong to ask questions when the entire contract agreement was shrouded in secrecy? This man with velvet mouth will never seize cease to surprise me with his comments.
How can the entire contract agreement be shrouded in secrecy, when the national assembly was the one that approved the loan in the first place. Did the national assembly mean to tell us that they did not read the loan terms before approving the loan? What do they want to do now since the loan has been taken and the contract is running? Do they want to withdraw their approval for the loan?

When the national assembly approved the loan may be somthing happened that forced all of them to look the other way. They have now come to their senses or the veil has been taken off their eyes and they can now see clearly. There is nothing as bad and deadly as corruption. When Ghana must go bags were flying around during the signing of the loan none of them thought it wise to look at the loan terms and agreement before approval. When they are settled because of this discovery nobody will hear this noice again. Corrupt rulers!

Hay will you about the beautiful people that exported your forefathers and my forefathers to their land to work as slaves?

Up till today, the "beautiful" people give African nations loans with very high interest and then, help African rogue politicians to keep same loans in the personal accounts in their(Oyinbo) banks abroad.

How beautiful can people be! Beautiful on the outside, but ugly in the heart.

Most Nigerians are boldly ignorant and very loud.

You dare not correct them. They will abuse you.

They will direct there frustration into anyone willing to educate them.

A simple research will have told them China can now take Nigeria as a nation to court and take over the trains they borrowed us money for if we failed to pay back since we've waived our sovereignty as a nation.

This is just what any banks or money lender will do if you borrow money and can't pay up.

And I don't see what's wrong with that.

Do we really need to go to China for any loan when NDDC is there?

This agency, can give Nigeria the loan to save Nigeria from scrapping her immunity and Sovereignty Clause in international Law just because we need loan from China.

So oga, going about taking loans that you think you can pay is wisdom? Shame on you, if the obj administration didn't get debt waiver for the country how will that your "thinking I can pay happen? "

I just dey respect you because you be elder if not na correct slap that your mouth for collect.

Tell me the direct impact of rail transport to the economy if not employing minimum wage earners and telling Nigerians that our road maintenance agencies have failed.

Also you stated that the infrastructure will be managed by Chinese. Oh what a country!
