[/color] omenka: Before the advent of the current political jousting, the Yorubas, not surprisingly, weren't as pro-Tinubu as we see them today- at least, not online. This is because they tend not to be as politically intransigent as other ethnicities in Nigeria. They couldn't care less about the intermittent jabs the man suffers, mostly from Yorubas themselves! Today, the story is totally different, no thanks to the endless attacks on his person by not only PDP supporters, but people they (Yorubas) consider OUTSIDERS. What we are witnessing is a herd resistance to what the Yorubas consider an attack, not only on Tinubu, but on Yoruba interests. As long as the attacks aren't coming from WITHIN, the collective defence being put up for Tinubu should be expected, the staunchest of which, ironically, would come from folks who were once totally indifferent about Tinubu or whatsoever fate he suffers. Look at it this way: when IPOB attacked Senator Ike Ekweremadu in Germany, it appeared as though most Igbos endorsed the action, with some saying Igbos are not fond of tolerating errant politicians of Igbo extraction. They applauded the perpetrators and scornfully mocked the victim. But, the moment OUTSIDERS attempted to mock and "insult" the same Ekweremadu, they were rebuffed by the same people that had mocked and insulted him!! The counter productivity of this strategy should be obvious to PDP and her supporters by now. The more you attack and scorn Tinubu, the more Yorubas would push back, and the more the man tends to grow in popularity. I'm not sure these attacks has turned any pro-Tinubu observer to an anti-Tinubu one, but I am VERY SURE it has turned some indifferent observers into his staunch supporters. I've no doubt in my mind we all desire a better and prosperous Nigeria, let's try and go about it the right way. Unwittingly making a hero of someone you consider a devious villain would hardly help your course. Review your strategy PDP. God bless Nigeria. Nice writeup. Till today I still don't understand why people are attacking tinubu thereby indirectly making him more and more famous. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Bannylove13: Anyone will defend false accusations even when the person is not a Tinubu supporter. I can never vote for Tinubu, and I know Tinubu himself is wise enough to know that, as a presidential candidate, his marketability is limited even in the West. Tinubu won't contest in 2023, rather he will endorse a more credible candidate. However bad Tinubu might be, since all our politicians are corrupt, he is still better than about 90% of them. Given the same privileges, most Nigerian politicians will do worst than Tinubu is doing- the stories around is a pointer to that. And now that those afraid of his sagacity in politics are whipping up sentiment for him, I can only see his stocks coming up. 6 Likes 1 Share |

These yanmiris are always envious of Yoruba. They no all their paperweighted politicians can't match Tinubu and so they've deployed all sorts of character assassination to masturbate and pamper their already downed ego. But unbeknownst to them that rather than bring him down which they thought they are doing, they're empowering him and making him popular even more. Double wahala for their dead body. 11 Likes |

Bannylove13: Do Igbos even have a say who becomes the President? You can't reject someone when you are not even in the political scene. Igbos hate Buhari and anyone from the North, Igbos hate Tinubu and anyone from the South West. Igbos know for sure the SW will produce the next president even without their opinion. The Igbos cage themselves willingly only to cry marginalisation when the North and SW are sharing positions. You can't hate and expect to be loved. 10 Likes 1 Share |

Just as the OP has rightly said, it's his opinion so I respect it. I'm from yoruba side in my state eve though we have our dialect. Tinubu had no single pedigree or attributes of leadership. Can anyone in his right sense compare tinubu with papa awo? Awo was a sage, tinubu is a thief Awon was an elderstatesman tinubu is a thug breeder ( boba o pa, bioba o buu lese) Awolowo was true to his word and cause, not minding whether people like his ideals or not. Tinubu deceived many yorubas and of course Nigerians by chanting restructuring during the pdp administration. The moment he formed the apc, the song vanished from his mouth. The one known to be protesting against perceived injustice suddenly became opposed to similar protests because he's in the apc fighting for a ticket. Awo was a man who walked his talk while tinubu because of his selfishness, always flip-flops. If tinubu eventually becomes president ( which is unlikely), Nigeria would be infiltrated by corruption and thuggery. People will carry gun on a broad day light and be shooting people. People should visit lagos and what oluomo boys are doing during elections. Buhari's government would be a tip of the iceberg. Yoruba should rather look inwards for a better representation. I dare all his supporters say otherwise about tinubu. Where's restructuring today? Where is federalism? Where's rule of law? All he knows how to do best is bribe judges so he could have his way in all cases. We have not forgotten the certificate saga when he was governor. I marvel each time some people come out to defend this man. Bullion vans were ushered into his house and all he could say was, it's his money. In a sane country, he would have long been forgotten. Tinubu is only popular in some parts of the south west. The oyo people have understood him better as a slave driver. They are wiser now. He would donate lagos money for election and enslave the governor of that state forever. Every contract must be decided at his desk. He would be the one to collect taxes via alphabeta in that state and that's what he's planning to do in edo but we are smarter. No good leader behaves this way. Tinubu is an inconsistent man. Attackers are welcome on board 2 Likes 2 Shares |

lexy2014: Politicians have always fight for their personal interest, not always for the citizenry. And so I hardly care about anyone of them. Just watching as event is unfolding. But even though (suppose you're from east), you don't like, say, orji kalu, constant insult by a Yoruba like me will make you want to defend him. Fact is, through constant unwarranted criticism, especially or high profile individual, it makes him stronger rather than undermine him. You ever wonder why Nigerian celebrities chase clouts by doing something stupid just to get attention? Yes, the more people talk about them, the more popular they become. This time, Tinubu isn't even paying those running mouth on him, yet they're doing the clout for him free of charge. I'm sure he's even more popular now than he was in 2015, don't you think so too? 4 Likes |
