Like I said before, Berlin is a place where people come to find themselves and a lot of people who come to Berlin are damaged goods and they’re running from something. Mental health is a very important topic over here and people are starting to take it seriously. Loneliness is also a huge problem.

Some people use drugs as a coping mechanism. Some use sex, some get into abusive relationships, some use religion, some commit suicide, and some find a way to bury it inside until they explode. I have learned to be less judgmental and to listen more. You never really know what people are going through. Just because you don’t understand it, does not mean you should criticize it.

The importance of mental health cannot be overemphasized but we joke with it in this country. Someone has mental disorder and the only thing that comes to your mind is 'Spiritual attack' or an 'arrow' from the village. It's really nauseating hearing such thoughts. You can't even talk about your depressing thoughts with anyone. Counsellors don't follow up on their counsellees, same with therapists, infact they start recommending spiritual houses and telling you to go for deliverance
I just hope we start talking it serious cos' it's not everyone that has the mental resilience to go all the way through. We all need mental assessment/evaluation from time to time.

I’ve told you guys how I was bullied and beaten, even by my parents. Now I have come to realize that a lot of the things they did to me, was a result of the trauma they had to lived with and never got fixed. It has also helped me to forgive them and a lot of other people.

I visited a Nigerian friend one day and he was cooking beans. When I got in and smelled the beans, I panicked. I got instant anxiety, which he noticed but I covered it up. I realized that I still had pain inside me that beans triggers. I have not eaten beans in over 15 years and I’ll never eat it again in my life. Here’s why.....

When I lived with my uncle and his wife in Nigeria, they maltreated me so much. Beans was the only thing I ate for months. His wife would go to the market and buy other foods but buy buckets of beans just for me and the house girl. The beans was cooked with only salt and palm oil. We didn’t even have to ask what we were going to eat. We already knew it was either beans or we starve.

There was a Ghanaian woman selling food on our street and we became friends. I’d help her wash her pots and plates and she gave me food in return. That was my only chance of tasting rice or anything else. Sometimes I’d hide some rice in nylon for the house girl to eat. My uncle’s wife noticed that we were not eating the beans and she reported to my uncle. He beat us like thieves.

I ate beans, morning, afternoon and night for months until I left that house. It made me hate beans and any time I smell beans, I remember the pain I went through and I panic. Imagine how someone’s wicked act has left me traumatized for years and even up till now, I am still dealing with it.

There have also been crazy incidents lately of foxes stealing people’s shoes in Berlin. A lot of people had been complaining about their shoes missing in Berlin. They thought their neighbors stole them. One guy eventually posted a complaint on Facebook and other people came forward to complain about their missing shoes as well.

It was going on for a while until a fox was caught stealing shoes at a Mosque, while people were praying. The fox stole up to 100 shoes from Mosques and was caught running with some shoes. They later traced the fox and found so many shoes the fox had stolen. There is nothing we will not see in Berlin. Even the Animals have a shoe and laptop fetish.

The animals must like the smell of feet, so they steal the shoes to their holes to play with, sniff and chew.

He poured palm oil on himself, turned up the music so loud and was dancing, screaming and destroying his flat. He took too much drugs, particularly GHB, and went crazy. His neighbors got terrified with the noise and called the police. The police showed up and asked him to open the door. They eventually opened it somehow and saw what he had done.

They first checked if anyone else was in the flat and if he had harmed anybody. They rescued the cat and grabbed the guy. They put him in an ambulance and took him to a psychiatric ward for treatment. In cases like that, the police are not worried about where the person got the drugs or making arrests, if he did not harm anybody. The main concern was his safety and getting him help.

He was released from the psychiatric ward after 3 days. That was when he called me. He wanted me to help him clean his flat before his sister returned. I helped him but at a cost. I’m not about to clean anyone’s mess for free. He had to repaint the flat and buy back all the things he destroyed, including the TV, oven, bathroom door, toilet sink and everything else.

His sister eventually got tired of him and kicked him out. When I met him, he was worth about €300,000. I saw him a year later and he had lost all his money to drugs. He became homeless and was sleeping on the street, picking empty bottles for coins and begging for food.
He later went to rehab and got clean. But he had nothing left. I don’t know how he’s doing now but I heard he relapsed.

I’ve not met them since I moved here but they know I’m in Germany. The wife could not get pregnant and even up till now, she’s in her 50s and she’s still barren. She left my uncle and ran to the UK. I heard she’s a pastor now. I just wonder what her life is like right now and if the people around her, know all the things she has done.

My uncle wanted to see me when I visited Nigeria but I refused. He tried to add me on Facebook and I did not accept his request. He remarried and he’s miserable in Nigeria. I don’t know about the house girl. I just hope anywhere she is, that she is happy now and she at least got a chance to enjoy life. She was so young at that time.

One thing I realized is that life takes care of people, whether they like it or not. No matter how much you maltreat someone or try to destroy them, you cannot stop their light from shining. One day you will lose that power and what will be, will be. When success comes, it will find you anywhere you are and nobody can stop it.

I used to have hard time trying to explain some of these issues to older ones around me but I just stop and quit discussing such conversation with them. Their statement usually ends with he's a child, what does he know. Some of these professional have apathy to their career mostly doctors and lawyer. Although, only few are excepted.

I look mainly at Personality and Character....I have 2 friends who smoke weed like mad!!! But these guys can never sleep when I am in need!!! Reading through this thread has re-awakened those forgotten dreams. I like ur writing style especially about the various crazy fetishes and anyhowness going on therre.

I've done most of my research on the course I want to do (I'm a computer science graduate), I see lots of Software Development jobs on LinkedIn, and I intend to follow this path when I get there cos of my web dev skills..

I drew up a list of universities and their programed from daad.de then, with their requirements and kept waiting till wen I'll get lucky financially...

I however had to comment cos of when u touched on rasicm and job Outlook.

Here are the cities I had down: Fulda, Cottbus, Klauisteirn, Bamberg, Ausburg

I think Fulda is in Hesse but don't know about the others.. I also know now that Cottbus is out of the question due to the rasicm there.

What do you think about these 6 cities in terms of job opportunities for the IT industry (software development) and rasicm etc etc.?

I know you are not software inclined, just putting it out there in case other guys in Germany might chip in one or two tips..

In today’s rant. I’m tired of the black hairdressers we have in Berlin. I wish we could have more experienced hairdressers here. They don’t keep to appointments and even when they show up late, they don’t apologize. Many of them also don’t know what they’re doing.

One lady from Ghana was trying to fix dreadlocks on my hair last week, she almost ripped out my skull. She was so rude as well and had no experience, whatsoever. Fixing dreadlocks here can cost up to €140 for one person. Imagine how much money they could make if they had more clients. Even office workers make €10 per hour, working for 8 hours a day.

Anybody coming here, who hopes to practice any kind of handwork, pls learn it well and be able to do it well. The world has evolved past amateur service. In Germany if you want to go to a barbing salon, you have to make an appointment beforehand and you have to be punctual. You cannot just walk into a salon to get a haircut without prior appointment.
Some Turkish salons would allow it if they don’t have many customers and African salons don’t mind. But in general, it is the professional thing to do.

Do you use lock extensions? If yes where do you get them from?

Might be safe to ask if it's fine to show up with dreadlocks or braided hair to an office work(IT). I have been confused about this for a while now.

Yeah that is possible. Your brain can interpret what it wants. I also don’t believe everything I read online. It is normal human nature. But anybody who has lived or is living in Berlin, can fact check these things. If you’re deep in the Berlin culture, you’re likely to experience the things I’ve experienced. I have not even experienced as much as some people.

Nonetheless, anybody is free to believe what they want. That will not stop me from writing about my experiences. You should also know that any untrue story written here is defamation and that is a crime. This is a public forum and everyone can see the information. If you think I’ll risk my peace and freedom to write down fake stories to strangers online, you are on a looong thing. *in Dbanj voice*.

Hi, you’re welcome. I’d definitely say Berlin by all means. I have lived in both states. I lived in Frankfurt and Kassel and I spent some time in Wiesbaden during my operation. Those are the major cities in Hesse and the worst period of my life in Germany. Kassel is small and very boring and hard to find a job. Frankfurt is fun, international and you can get a job easily if you speak German. But the people in Frankfurt are rude, unfriendly and egoistic. Wiesbaden is big and nice but not much happening there.

Berlin is the best place to be if you want to enjoy Germany while studying, make friends, not feel lonely, and meet international people. Finding a flat is very hard but possible. Finding a student job is easy even without German. Unlike Hesse where your chances of easily finding a job is dependent on your German, you can work in Berlin with English.

The cost of accommodation is the same in Hesse and Berlin. Only Kassel could be cheaper. It is also not easy to find accommodation in Frankfurt but it’s easier than Berlin. Prices are the same.
So in summary, if you speak good German, you can settle for Hesse. If your German is bad, Berlin is the place for you.

I made some new friends yesterday while we were looking for a place to party. We all walked around together. One memorable experience was a guy from Ireland. He just moved to Berlin four weeks ago. He was very friendly and already had friends.

I told you guys how Irish people are the best international friends you can have in Berlin. They are very openminded and friendly. They light up every place they go to and make friends with everybody. They don’t care about your race or where you’re from. They’ll hug you, play with you, drink from the same bottle with you and even offer you a beer. They also do all the talking.

Anyway, we were walking and we saw this white girl on the street, crying. I just minded my business. The Irish guy was worried about her and I warned him to leave her alone. She was on cloud nine. He insisted and went to talk with her. I was just laughing at him, because I know them. I know my Berlin people. She probably took too much drugs and started crying for no reason.

This girl jumped on him and started shouting. She cursed him eh...”Fvck you, Fvck your mother, Fvck your father, Fvck your family, you piece of sh*t”, all in german. She screamed at him and he panicked. Now he knows better. When you see them like that, just leave them alone. You can always tell the ones that have taken something.
Not everybody you see in Berlin is normal. They can dress well and look good but they’re mental.

Just checking in to let you guys know that heat wan finish me here. The weather is so hot, everybody is sweating like jackie. I feel sorry for all the people using bleaching cream, this is not una season at all. Even pancake is melting on the faces of many girls. This heatwave is terrible.
I’m afraid to go to the gym because of the body odor I may smell there. Oyibo own different.

In terms of job opportunities, don’t even bother thinking of Fulda or Cottbus. Berlin is the hub of IT professionals. You can get a job in IT as quickly as 2 weeks, even without German. Anybody who has background in IT is more likely to get a job in Germany than anyone else. Look into big cities instead. You can study in a small city and move to a big city to find a job.

I don’t use extensions. I just dread my natural hair and leave it to grow. You can go to work with dreads or braids or whatever hairstyle, nobody cares. Anybody who talks about your hair is discriminating against you. Except it is written in your contract. IT professionals even wear slippers to work. You can have red hair like chicken and earring falling from your tongue, nobody cares. As long as you can do your work.
