If you need solar to be installed for you in Enugu or close by..chat me up with the number in my signature.
Good evening.

Please can it be possible to use solar panel alone to generate electricity? Someone came to my shop (computer) to introduce the solar system to me. He said since the business runs on daytime when the sun is up, that I have no need for battery (storage).

Though we lost contact hence I could not get him.

It can power DC electronics (Not AC like Fan, TV etc) but the voltage will be fluctuating..so it's not advisable. You will need at least 500Watts Inverter and a minimum of 100AH battery to keep the light steady because you can not rely on sun always.(The battery saves the energy and supplies electricity on a steady basis even when the weather is cloudy)... And Your location?

In addition, you can get the inverter + battery then skip the solar panels if you are sure of at least 5hours of NEPA daily to charge the inverter so u could use it during your business hours whether there is NEPA or not

Yes it is possible, there are inverters that can power your home with only power from solar panels

Thanks alot! My requirements are 3 desktop computers, 2 laptops, 1 LaserJet printer and photocopy and fan.

NEPA here is a taboo as we seldom have 10minutes in a week.

I am based in Akwa Ibom and want alternative power seriously.

What's your advice?

I have been following this thread and I must say its been so educative. Thanks for this.

I also do have a solar setup BUT I opted for the DC option. grin

Breakdown of my setup

2nos 80 watts solar panel Got both them on jiji for 18k @9k eachwink though used oo. But they looked preety new so.... tongue

Solar charge controller (Jumia@6k+)

3 DC led light tubes (1k each)

2 DC fans (small one 4k or so and bigger one.. I had lying around bought years ago kiss

1 DC tv
1 GOtv decoder

For now I use mostly the lights + fans and the run almost 24 hours. This is so because I have not gotten around to buy a Deep cycle battery. I just use on the interim 2 old car batteries for now I had lying around and are already not at full capacity again lipsrsealed. They serve me well at least till they give up totally angry

When I get the inverter battery I would use the tv 24/7 or less when there is PHCN power.

And maybe as time elapse and funds come in I would also add more panels and led tubes etc.

Been running the setup for a year now and no hassles. This setup saves me fuel and running cost of my generator and except there is power failure for more than 2 days or so do I run it to power the freezer or run the washing machine.. Else... All man dey your dey.. angry We kukuma have lights, TV and Fan.. cheesy

Which inverter you dey use power washing machine and freezer...what is the rating of this appliances.

He meant running his Gen to power those appliances when there's no power for two days.

go for 1.5kv inverter and two 200Ahs battery 300w panel 3 and 30amps charge controller.

My question:
Can same solar panel be used by two different connections...
(Where I want to park in, they had solar pumping machine which was stolen, now I'm thinking of tapping the solar panel and be using it in my room)
Is it possible please?

I may not be able to go for the high quality stuffs. I can manage chinco or even fairly used if available.

As my own contribution to this great thread by @Mordecai, I promise to combine the content here into a single PDF document for future use of all. Please house, keep reminding me of this.

I stumbled upon this thread today while searching for affordable solar energy solutions. As a freelancer, poor power supply has really caused me a lot of setbacks and frustrations, loss of clients and loss of revenue, too numerous to count. I don't like using generators for extended periods, due to noise and pollution. I love working in a clean and quiet space. I have decided to forget about grid electricity for now, for my own good!

Mordecai, thank you and may God bless you for taking the time to do this. You remind me of the Mordecai in the Bible. He was always interested in the welfare of his people.

The cost of setting up solar power for an average middle class household is quite high. It may ranges between N70,000 to N90,000. Don't worry if you can't afford to go solar. You can still use solar power following the two ways below:

1. You can take a loan with government benefits but regular interest.
2. Change your home appliances to those that work on solar power.

Well, in my case, I'll choose the second option! If you're looking for some solar powered fans, then you can read my review on the same here: https://solarfunda.com/solar-powered-fans/

Low quality wire, change it to original copper flex wire

Solar power is considered out of reach of the average middle class income earner.

But is it?

Let's go into it, step by step.

I hope, by the information I'll be detailing below to encourage most low-income earners to adopt solar power for their needs. It is not as expensive as the resellers would have it be.

NB: I am not a professional. Most of the views I'll express will likely be as a result of my own experience.

Hello.

What will be the requirement for

22 18 watts bulb.

2 standing fans

1 tv.

1 laptop.
1 fridge.

I wil like the appliances to run direct on sun light in day times and run on battery at night when i will remove some load .
Thanks

I don't clearly have the list. Made payment last week and expecting it to arrive on Monday.

The people in charge gave me two options because I requested for the strongest battery - Monbat and Quanta. I picked Monbat which costs 145k each.

300 x 3 mono solar panel 42k each.
1 Diamond mppt solar charge controller @50k
Wire and workman @50k or thereabout.

Everything is not clear yet but they requested for 650k which according to them will take care of everything.

Expecting them on Monday.

I am no multi millionaire but I won't refer myself as low income earner.

Are you still enjoying your battery. Please I need recommendation for a good battery.

Re: Solar Power For An Average Middle Class Household by Alsonjecs: 3:54pm On Jan 31, 2022
Sunlight is not a prerequisite for the efficiency of solar panels - daylight is enough to produce electricity. Therefore, solar panels produce electricity in sunny weather and on a cloudy or even rainy day. This means that almost all year round, you have the opportunity to produce electricity for your needs without paying anything extra for it.
The prices of solar panels depend on their capacity, the manufacturer, and, of course, the seller. I advise you to switch at least partially to solar energy, which will reduce your electricity costs. Please pay attention to the quality of Solar Fasteners because the panel's efficiency depends strongly on it.
