It's a large leak that should be easily detected by a competent mechanic. The mechanic is yet to check the steering rack and its seals for damage due to old age. Delay in fixing will affect the power steering pump.

One more thing please, car was scanned with one of those personal scanners and it was showing transmission something and knock sensor before the leak correction now after the leak was corrected it showed only the knock sensor.
Its not showing any faults we can notice for now when driven .
what can be the issue pls picture attached.

We did notice some weeks back too that the car window ceases sometime and refuses to go up and after returns to normal maybe after few hours.

I've one that refused to start.

When you turn the key the ignition comes up but it doesn't crank.

I pulled the fuses and now it I hear a spinning sound when I turn the key but it doesn't crank/the engine doesn't turn so I believe the starter is the issue.

I write to appreciate you all for your support, advice and concern. Although the mechanic in Auchi ended up wasting my time and unduly keeping my vehicle in his shop for one month and making me pay almost 50k to tow it to Benin, the mechanic in Benin has fixed it. All he did was change the Camshaft sensors and brain box.
I am sincerely grateful.

Thanks all and since my Pathy had roared back to life, what must I do to keep it in shape if I want to use it for long journeys like Abuja - Lagos frequently.

Sorry for all the trouble you had to go through.

Pathfinders are generally considered indestructible.

Get those sensors that failed, have a supply of them, test to be sure they are perfect while you are at your base and keep them on your person anytime you travel.

The likelihood of the engine failing is slim, but the likelihood of those sensors stopping your journey like they did a while ago is very strong.

Apart from that if you keep up with maintenance, you should be able to travel at short notice without the need for an extended session with a technician.

I come in peace and full honesty. I recently bought a Nissan Altima 2010 for my wife. We love the car and I think we got lucky with it as it's really clean and very well maintained. Love for the car got me digging and digging more until I came across CVT.

Now am worried and I would rather sell the car back, as I don't want her getting stranded on her way from work should incase CVT act up. I've taken the car to Automedics and they say all is well. Same thing too with Paintball Auto Workshop at V.I

But for a woman, I no want wahala. She works around Marina and we live at Lekki. So incase anyone has a client whod want the car. See below:

I've been working on Nissan's for over 3years. As long as your electrical system isn't messed up and you stick to Genuine Nissan CVT oil, you're gonna be fine. I think the Altima uses a NS-2 fluid.

Thanks for this. Like I said car is performing great and I know this cos I've owned a V6 Engine Mitsubishi Sports , V6 Toyota Camry, and presently a C-Class and an Accord. The Nissan moves impressively when compared.

How will I know when it's time to change the CVT. Nissan Place quite 120k plus for cvt fluid change. But sheybi that's when I know when it's due.

Do you guys just wait for it to breakdown and then fix or are there precautionary steps that help. Also who will you recommend as a reliable AutoMech for Nissan that I can trust.

You're not in Abuja, if you were, I would had asked you to patronize my garage. I won't meddle into other organization's or people's affairs and businesses. But the price quoted for you is because of the name and size of the organization.

As for maintenance, you do preventive maintenance.
