HAVE YOU EVER EATEN YOUR FATHER'S FOOD BEFORE? by Alexgman1(m): 3:20am On Aug 13, 2020
All my life, the only day i remember having a meal prepared by my dad was the day i got back from school & i was informed dat mummy of the house was down with serious fever. So my dad took it upon himself to prepare lunch for the house that day as he was on one month break from work. I and my sibblings came back from school in the afternoon so tired & hungry. I barely dropped my bag in my room when my dad shouted from the sitting room dat "there was food in the pot dat he personally prepared." Since mum was ill & cud hardly leave her bed all day let alone her room. I went to the pot served my self carefully, sat in the dinning & fearfully took a taste. But to my greatest surprise the food was delicious. It tasted very well & so good dat i over fed beyond my limit dat day. That was the 1st, only & the last time i ate BEANS made with much onions, fresh pepper, Saint leaf, garlic & smoked fish all in the right proportion & quantity. Have eaten my dad's food before & it was delicious dont know about you?

Yeah.
My dad cooks far better than my mum but I only ate his food while we were young though.

I still remember the taste ,the love and joy that daddy cooked for us.
He grew up with his Cross Rivers state stepmom.

Edikankong ,Epanekuko(don't know how to spell), vegetable sauce , garden egg sauce , Original palm oil rice ,dried fish pepper soup.
Learnt them from him .

Boiled yam with red oil! My mum travelled and my sister and I went to school. When we came back we were surprised to meet dad at home by that time of the day because his job then was an 8-5 one. Dad had already boiled yam and asked us to come and eat. The first and only time we ate from the same plate with him. It was later we realised that dad took ill and that was the reason we met him at home by that time of the day. Sadly though, he never recovered from that illness. But I must confess, dad's food tasted distinct, maybe because I had eaten only mum's food all my life. Rest in peace dad!!

I cooked vegetable soup not too long ago and ended up staying longer in the restroom. While doing my thing in there with almost teary face, I said to myself, this situation looked familiar. I quickly remembered the day my dad prepared the same vegetable soup and the way we all held our tummies taking turns in the restroom. When it comes to cooking, I'm a true son of my dad. cheesy

Chai, continue to RIP Col. Jeffrey Snr. cry

yes, the whole family do eat his food once in a year and thats during my mom birthday, my dad always prepare jellof rice for the whole house and makes sure that he did all himself without the help from mom or anybody..
the man is a very bad cook but we jus have to manage it and keep singing his praises saying my mum is lucky to have a very romantic chef as a husband jus to make him happy jus as we do praise our bad leaders..

Very cool thread.
Just few comments but the aroma of the thread feels very refreshing already.
A nigga once said, "Everyday is not for talking too much." I'm not here today to make a comment, i'm just here to enjoy the comments.

By the way, shout-out to all the Nusret Gokces of Nairaland. Those guys who keep peppering Nairaland ladies and mummies on Cooking thread. Y'all doing well.

I think most fathers food tastes good because they don't manage ingredients like mothers since its a one-off thing.

Even in old age, my dad still goes to the market to buy bulk foodstuffs, sometimes he goes with my mum and waits for her in the car but when it comes to buying little everyday stuffs, my mum takes care of that.

Though he has grown-up children, he still cooks once in a while; he has even developed some of his own recipes. I grew up watching my dad do these things and today cooking is what I enjoy doing most, I cook 100% of the food that I eat.

In my house everybody takes turn to cook, whether male or female and I started when I was in primary school. I do pity people who see cooking as a big deal.

You are irredeemable. grin

May his soul continue to rest in peace.

To the topic, he cooks regularly and well too- especially catfish pepper soup. I eat it to make him happy. Not a fish person.
