In my thoughts, there is no crime in remaining friends with exes particularly, if you were friends before dating and returned back to friends afterwards. I guess why it might not be comfortable is because most relationships were not sex free which implies it could repeat itself again. Nonetheless, if both parties respects themselves and the sanctity of marriage, then there's no cause for fear.
