Some weeks ago, a family friend who is a doctor in Ghana came into the country. On getting into the country, his passport was seized and he was asked to get a Covid19 test in order to get it back. The next day, he took the test and his results came back positive about a week later. All the while, he had been living in our house with no physical distancing or quarantine of any sort. We were 8 people living in the house along with him.

When we heard the news, we were certain we all had the disease and from that point onwards,he (family friend) confined himself to his room. The only symptoms I can say he had were cough, occasional sneezes and he told me he couldn't sleep well at night. So the wait began. We started waiting for the rest of us to start exhibiting symptoms. One week passed, two weeks, nothing. We were all healthy, no symptoms whatsoever. It got to a point that he stopped wearing face masks in the house and just mingled freely with everyone.

It was a very confusing experience for me, so confusing that up till now I don't understand if he really had the virus or not. Other people in the house are of the view that he was wrongly diagnosed. But he(family friend) says it's possible he had it, seeing he's a doctor along with the fact that he had just come in from Ghana with other doctors.

. This is too deep...Medical practitioners in the house please shed light on this ....Does it implies that the other people immunity is so strong ...

Imagine that, to me he was diagnosed wrongly.
And that is the case of most cases recorded in Nigeria. It's all scammed, the figures were inflated.
I'm not saying coronavirus is not real, but in Nigeria only very few people had it, others were just mere fever. A close relative of mine had fever around that April with covid 19 symptoms.
He was treated and later got well at home. If he had gone to the clinic or for test, they could have tested him positive.

Your immune system fights the virus. In most cases (80%), all you need is good nutrition and rest. But it can also kill you if you are unlucky.

why are the elites and the governors getting exposed and infected while commoners like us that go to the market and mix up with the crowd are not infected? hopefully the scamdemic doesn't exist
Our hot weather drives the rich into their air-conditioned cars, offices and malls where the disease spreads very quickly. Whereas, on our streets and open markets, the heat and ultraviolet radiation of the sun deactivates virus particles on the air, and the wind carries them away, providing some protection to the common man. When the poor are indoors, they open their doors and windows, which helps to disperse virus particles. The sun that poor people are exposed to produces Vitamin D in their bodies. Vitamin D deficiency is correlated with severe COVID symptoms. There’s also the travel connection others have discussed.

I feel that your family friend, as a doctor and a responsible person, during a pandemic, must have distanced himself a little bit while waiting for the test results, and that may have been sufficient to limit the spread during that period. Also, some of you may have been infected but asymptomatic. I don’t find the story to be strange at all.

Can one have Covid symptoms for 6 months ? People all over the world have reported this. To answer your question:
Akiko Iwasaki, an immunologist at Yale, offers three possibilities. Long-haulers might still harbor infectious virus in some reservoir organ, which is missed by tests that use nasal swabs. Or persistent fragments of viral genes, though not infectious, may still be triggering a violent immune overreaction, as if “you’re reacting to a ghost of a virus,” Iwasaki says. More likely, the virus is gone but the immune system, having been provoked by it, is stuck in a lingering overactive state.

Can Covid19 be totally eradicated or we will just learn to live with it?
It could be totally eradicated if all the countries in the world worked together to eradicate it within their borders at the same time. That level of global cooperation, coordination and competence is inconceivable to me.

From my view, the first strains of the virus to have invaded Nigeria were fatal. But with time the virus enjoyed overexposure, decreasing in its art of virulency as it is being transmitted from one person to another.

On this note, probably, solid immunity is built against the virus. Death only occurs when a patient is having a very severe underlying health condition.

Speaking speculatively...it is possible.

At the same time, we haven't been as exposed as badly as the US and Europe...largely because we don't travel as much as they do...meaning the infection was limited to the elites, who do travel, and who (to be fair) promptly isolated themselves for the most part.

But that's speaking speculatively.

This might have been the case in the early months of the pandemic, but with the level of community transmission, the lack of international travel cant really explain the relatively fewer cases seen in the lower classes of society.

It even becomes more striking when one considers the very poor adherence to basic IPC measures (facemask, etc)

I do not think coronavirus can be eradicated. The way to manage the virus is to develop effective antiviral drugs and/Or Vaccine to deal with it. The HIV infection has not been responsive to various efforts at developing a vaccine against its spread. However there are a lots of antiviral drugs to manage the virus.

I've been wondering how ncdc was able to discharge over 10000 patience but the number of patients discharged in each state did not reflect at all. When u go to the statistics on Google page u will realise they have stopped updating number discharged patients on each state because the numbers don't correspond anymore.

Below is the number of discharged patients on August 4

The second picture is taken on July 28 and the third is taken on August 16. When study the second and third picture you will realise Lagos has the highest number of patience. Please we need a clinical explanation over 10000+ patients discharged on August 4 and how they got the information. I thought they warned against treating patients at home. Those wards they set up for treatments shows they are not doin well at all. Only about 2000 discharged in lagos? Please address this issue
