Please I will appreciate if someone can help answer my question.

I deferred my admission to next year fall. I contacted my school and I was told that a new letter of admission will be issued to me next spring(when admission letters will be issued to new admits). However, they said they are willing to issue a new me an official letter of defferal if I need one.

Now, to my question. Can I send the letter of defferal to IRCC via webform (cause I already got my AIP) or I should chill till they issue the new admission letter to me next year and then send the letter next year?

I shook my head when some people on this thread advise you to register with AIP. Do these people even know how the system in Canada works? Your international student advisor, someone that will likely process your refund, advise you not to register without study permit and they are saying you should do otherwise. Maybe you don’t know, most international student advisor are also registered, trained, and certified immigration consultant. They know that visa officers have power to decide applicants fate, they can be very unpredictable, and there is little or nothing you can do about it.

If your school says they will not refund after registration of classes, you are own your own if you pay your tuition and register. They will gladly read out the rules to you if you later ask for it. You won’t be the first to loose your money to them.

Also, you should ask your advisor because study permit is usually required for disbursement of scholarship. Admission or AIP does not guarantee scholarship. If you don’t get your study permit, you loose your money, your scholarship, and your seat. I hope you have the emotional and financial strength for this risk if you decide to register with AIP.

Also, in exceptional circumstances when you cant perform your role, like in a RA/TA scholarship, you are likely to loose the scholarship. I don’t know your program and tuition cost, but the fact that you needed to make tuition deposit despite having scholarship and entrance award is also a yellow flag for me.

Perhaps the scholarship rules are changing because they can’t guarantee people’s performance with online classes and not in Canada. Oyinbo Dey serious that business na business. They will let you go, AKA fire you, if you can’t perform your duties to their satisfaction.

I also read some people are saying your profile is very strong. I would like to point out to you that you have a reg flag that VOs have used to reject people in the past. You have a PhD and going to Msc. This is big one for purpose of visit. The better alternative would be a postdoctoral fellowship.

It is not my money or my mental health. I am only a concerned fellow. Whatever decision you make, please let us know the outcome. It will help other applicants to make an informed decision.

Is there an implication if I ask for a deferral after the school resumption, probably wait till sept 15 to see if I get an AIP or an update of any form

Also, prior to this time before submitting my application oitried to defer the admission because of the uncertainty with the VFS office opening but along the line I cancelled that request, will I still be qualified to ask the school for another deferral again now ,at least now I can state study permit delay as my reason for requesting for a deferral

Defer your admission to January and send the updated admission to IRCC. Though your application is still at a baby stage but nevertheless defer the admission.

I am afraid the reason for your choice of programme is lame and could amount to fruitless effort.

I will suggest you apply for GDP/C. You can check Cape Breton University (Post-Baccalareate Diploma in Business Analytics, Business Management and Supply Chain Management).

If the reasons you gave are the motivating factors for wanting to do a Diploma program, it will be well-advised you opt for PGD/C or Post Baccalaureate Diploma program if Master isn't an option. I think it will be better if your approach of reasoning comes logically outside what you gave.

The $7K - $8K CAD/year would likely be the tuition fee amount a Domestic (Canadian) student pay's

International Student do pay more in terms of tuition

Google the following schools, check their program duration (either 1 or 2 years) and do a research on their tuition , u might likely see a quite cheap one

To your questions

1) Do make a research on the school websites to know their tuition fee for international students, you might see a quite cheap one

2) it can be very competitive, cos of other students from other countries who might have an higher CGPA, publication etc. than yours, you will need stand-out in your application processing for a Masters (Most esp. if a Cover Letter or Statement of Interest is required)

3) U don't need an English Requirement (u are exempted), cos you come from an English Speaking Country (Nigeria), and from your Primary, and High Sch days to University Level, ur medium of instruction was English all through. Alternatively, u can get a Letter of Confirmation of English language proficiency from the school u graduated from (Visit or Contact ur School Registrar

4) Guess you will need to make a research on that yourself , or probably you can make enquiry from members in house about the province your sch. of interest is located.

U might likely not see such scholarship,
also most funded thesis-based related programs for Masters or PH.D programs are Mostly Science/Engineering related.(I stand to be corrected)

But u can still give it a shot in a Business related PHD Program.

So Why not go for a Thesis-based PH.D program, hustle for a Potential Supervisor, get one and work towards getting a Funded (full or partial) thesis-based based PH.D in a Business related program.

You can be successful in this by Sending a Start-Off email to Professors and a Contextualized SOP (Statement of Purpose)

I judging from the input of our experienced gurus here, one can easily deduct that going for 1yr PGC will be hard to get PR. please gurus my questions are:
Can 3 semesters of study qualify as a 2 year programme? the college offers 2 semesters of course work and the third semester is for co-op/ unpaid placement. can it fly as regards in getting PR as study?

Secondly, my second choice of school offers 2 years of study. the first 3 semesters are for course work while the last semester is for co-op. though the programme of studies in this one clearly stated that it's a 2 year programme.

Im a graduate of medical laboratory science graduated with. I intend progressing my career by opting for masters in Public Health. I finished with a 2.2 making my chances of securing admission to the program very slim. I intend pursuing a post graduate diploma in Health Analytics or health informatics 1 year program. On successful completion of my health analytics program or health informatics. I intend applying for the Masters in public health. I have the following questions
1. Is it possible to secure a masters degree admission with a PGD certificate judging by the fact that the Bsc result bears a 2.2
2. If possible, is it possible to get another study permit for the msc program while in Canada. If possible what are the chances of getting rejected. Is it high or u are sure of getting a study permit as long as uve secured ur admission
3. Will this qualify me for a 3years PGWP to get a chance to apply for PR.

You cannot get admission for masters with your CGPA, your only option is to find a PGD in one of the colleges related to your course.
And no it is not a red flag.

Why the rush? Please exercise a little more patience before sending the new LOA to IRCC. Give it end of this month, if you don't receive any update on your application, you may proceed with it.

Internet (google) should do justice to this information. More importantly, however I don't see any reasonableness and/or the lucrativeness of this program upon your return to Nigeria given that the program is readily available at a cheaper rate in Nigeria. The visa officer will see you as not a genuine student and for the fact that you're looking for easier route to emigrate to Canada without any lawful intention of coming back to your home country. In light of this, my suggestion is that you should apply for a program whose professionals are highly sought after in Nigeria and the pay scale is very impressive to offset the cost and difficulty of undertaking the program in Canada.

If you seek my good working knowledge in this process, I would advise that you should forget about Memorial University for your undergraduate studies. The school requirements for Bachelor's degree program are cumbersome and they often require every document to be sent via courier by the issuing body. The funniest part of it all is that they require English proficiency test (IELTS with no less than 6.5 over all band and TOEFL). Having said that, and in a bid to better your study application approval chances, I would strongly suggest you apply to The University of Regina and/or The University of Saskatchewan for her degree program. I have personally used these schools for young Candidates on several occasions whose parents were their sponsors and their study permit application was approved. So save yourself the stress of MUN and take a proactive step by applying to the aforementioned institutions.


In the meantime, please don't hesitate to ask questions should you have any concerns.
