Ragnnar:

I was in your situation some time ago. They suggested I connect my fan directly and remove the thermostat, which I did but the overheating didn't stop. I took my car to radiator wash which they did but the overheating continued. Until I have to lose out the radiator completely from the car, dismantle the top side that house the cap, I was able to see that my radiator was badly blocked my rust particles. Water was only able to pass through two capillaries others were blocked. It took me all day unblock this capillaries one after the other. That's how I solve the problem. Had to change the radiator completely after some weeks cause I damaged some of the capillaries in the process of cleaning . Clean your radiator capillaries if not possible buy another one then thank me later.

that's quite a breakthrough bro, the radiator capillaries is where I put water right and how much is the capillaries

what's the model of your car

People that own cars with this kind of engine compartment are really trying.

Baba, sell that car and buy a modern car. With engine like that, why won't it overheat?

Praxtech:

Change the thermostat. Ensure there's a thermostat there. Reconnect the fans back to factory settings.

You can't jump into conclusion that the thermostat is responsible for this issue. So many things can be responsible for that. But I advise that he takes the car to a competent car technician, the cause of the overheating will be figured out n rectify. U see if there is leakage around the cooling system, radiator blockage, bad thermostat, burned gasket, presence of air in the system, bad water pump, a failed cooling fan, bad coolant sensor, faulty radiator pressure cap etc overheating will occur n it all depends on the tech on the car n what actually happened with the car.

1. Has it overheated till the extent that the top gasket got damaged?...so check the top cylinder gaskets, if damaged please change them.

2. Check the hose carrying water to and fro the engine.

3. Check your radiator cover to ensure that water is not leaking out.

4. Are the cooling fans working?

5. If it has not thermostat and fan like most VW, you may have to work a fan in the engine to support the cooling system.

1. I think it got damaged in the process of managing it to the mechanic workshop

2. OK bro

3. no, except if the car do overheating

4. it does work when it overheated in the morning, I've to allow it to rest and put cool water until it started overheating later in the evening and I think the fan stop on the process

5. OK noted bro, I'm going to attend to that tomorrow

thanks for your input bro

Fuel pulp has nothing to do with overheating, if your top gasket is still intact, check water pump also ensure your 2 fan is working and in good contrition. This will solve the problem.

it's relay today, it's the water in the radiator boiling tomorrow, I'm becoming sick of this. my mechanic told me when it started this night that my gasket is damaged in the process. I put water in the radiator everyday because of this over heating

Flatten gasket can cause such, then change ur raditor to double cell, double fan.. can connect fan directly. Make sure all cooling system are working and original parts!

You need to make sure your fan is in good working condition, does it rotate at a good speed to suck in air? Or has the power dwindled over time.

If there's a thermostat involved, check to see if it works well, else I'd advise direct wiring (once the ignition is on the fan is blowing), then get your radiator flushed, washed, bled or whatever to make sure it ain't contaminated

it was in good condition before it started overheating later after it does in the morning

for the thermostat and the flushing of radiator I'll do that tomorrow bro. thanks God bless you

I remember when my Honda civic '92 model was overheating anyhow and everywhere. Kai, I saw hell. I had to be parking after every 2-3km to add water to the radiator or be driving at 20km/h. The experience is not a good one o!

OP try the following:
1. check to see if there's a leak in the cooling system (radiator, water pump, hose, etc) and fix it.
2. Inside your radiator may be dirty and may require an internal wash as the type of dirty water we use in our radiators here in naija sometimes may eventually clog it up and prevent free flow of water within the radiator.

I believe the overheating will stop if the above are solved.

Buy the biggest radiator that can fit in there. I had similar problems with a mazda 626 '95 model. I did everything and nothing worked until I changed the radiator to the biggest that could fit into the car. It stopped immediately. Overheating simply means the car is not getting enough coolant...in this case water. The reason may be leakage or inadequate water which is where this big radiator matter comes in.

His work shop is at boundary road shasha.
He will open your radiator and clear the cells.

Plz, dont forget to give update. I am interested in seeing how this is solved.

I had very few overheating issues with my formal car.

First was caused by the fan not running well because of partial contact of the positive terminal of the battery.

Second was as a result of punctured radiator while on motion.

I hate overheating. I intend never to remove the thermostat of my present vehicle. So help me God cool

radiator cover you mean the one that hold the water in the car?
Re: Help Me Find A Permanent Solution To My Overheating Car by Bobby4345: 5:51pm On Aug 16, 2020
Possible causes:
1. Weak water pump
2. Cooling system leakage
3. Weak fan
4 . Faulty Thermostat
5. Worn fan belts
6. Broken hoses

Stillthebest:

Your First step is to remove the radiator, take it to the guys that work radiators to wash the inside. Then take it to a car wash stand and blow it back and front.

Watch as your car becomes practically perfect.

If it doesn't work find a better Tech Guy to look into it, sibce nothing happens to the gasket, u have to use double cells. As engines weakens out, radiator tend to reduce in capacity to cater for the higher temperature of the engine thus need' for double cell. But strictly on the tech guy's advice.

But do what I first wrote and thank me later.

thanks boss, I will look into your first paragraph. I appreciate

it had burned the gasket bro, I've to change the gasket tomorrow

Its a common problem with golf n e sabi catch fire cuz of that. Just be careful else it goes in flames. Start diagnosing everything that causes overheating, from water pump, radiator leaks or blocked, weak fan etc. Also check if ders some water mixed in d oil, that means the top gasket has burnt

That's so true I used a Volkswagen too some years back thanks to my fire extinguisher it would have been up in flames
