Many things can cause the overheating of a car aside the radiator and thermostat. Even a piston inside the engine can cause overheating if it is causing a friction with the block. Your silencer air passage must be clean. Some loosen bolts can cause imbalance in the engine operation, hence, the overheating, etc. If the general conduction of the engine is okay during operation, that's it does not make any weird sound, then you should check your radiator to make sure the overheating is not due to the faulty cooling system.

Nairaland Car Gurus please help me find permanent solution to my golf 3 car(America spec) doing overheating barely every day

I started experiencing this over heating after the change of fuel pump and speedometer censor was changed by a recommended Rewire

I'm using this golf for commercial business, nothing give me any issue in the car than this over heating, is becoming embarrassing when I carry passengers and it started. the car is clean and engine is working fine

it's relay today, it's the water in the radiator boiling tomorrow, I'm becoming sick of this. my mechanic told me when it started this night that my gasket is damaged in the process. I put water in the radiator everyday because of this over heating

please what do you guys suggest as the permanent solution to this over heating gazzuzz Sienna royallord1 and others and I wouldn't mind a recommendation of good Rewire. I reside in Lagos.

The most common 3 causes of overheating in Golf car are a Coolant leak (water pump, radiator, hose etc.), the Radiator fan, or a failed Thermostat.

Check them and thank me later!

Bros, provided your fan is ok and the radiator is not dirty, then your top cylinder gasket is the problem
Bring down the top and grind it, then put a new gasket, you can double it for the best result.
That's the end of the problem.

the gasket need to be change according to my mechanic and I'm getting the double gasket

I'm loosing the radiator for wash this morning or get a bigger one as suggested by some folks here

thanks for your input bro

Hello 7pages. I would suggest you go to Iyana Itire to fix your car. The mechanics there are very competent and the good thing is parts can also be sourced for quickly because it is a volkswagen market. I would be going there tomorrow to do some minor fixing on my car. If you would be free to come over tomorrow, we could meet and you could discuss with my mechanic to help you out. You could reach me via 08152734660.

thanks for this bro but getting to that place is the issue

I will contact you Sir

A friend once told me something about volks and overheating.

Said it usually that plastic reservoir (that round plastic like ball) that's always the culprit.

Once it's broken or has the tiniest hole, over heating starts.

Try change that and look at the one u are buying carefully to ensure its not broken and gummed

noted bro thanks

From a similar experience of this car
Listen and listen and listen to me. I mentioned listen for you to know that I know what I am saying.
1. Replace the water pump, I am very sure that the blades Javed chopped off and reduce in size, this will not allow proper water pressure to circulate.
2. Check for leakages
3. That radiator needs internal flushing there are too many corrosion inside.
After washing the radiator use Air-condition waste water to fill the radiator, or distill water, this will further remove the corrosion and stop the corrosion.
4. Check the water that goes into the car dash board .

5.
Lastly make sure that water pump is replaced, don't let them confuse you that a chopped pump blade will not cause overheating.

Thank me after u do the above

Thanks Sir. I will do as suggested

Try to check the water level of your radiator tank. You don't have to fill it up, as there is a mark on the tank.

Just give us the update when you finally fixed it bro and don't be discouraged, things will soon get better as for those saying he should sell his car and buy a new one, did you think it is that easy? If you have things going well for you, keep it to yourself if you can't help and leave the OP alone, let's stop making mockery of everything, let's learn to encourage others with our words. Peace

Yes you can. But sort out the top gaskets issue first, then see if the overheating persists before you spend further.
