Snoopyjaga:The car you bought already had an engine problem, that was why they didn't want you to rev the car in park. Unfortunately you went there with a wrong mechanic and thus little chance of making any case against the fraudulent dealer. You've been scammed big time, get a BMW specialist to analyse the fault, your bill no go be here finally. |
| Re: BMW Owners' Forum by chukel(m): 9:06am On Aug 17, 2020 |
Snoopyjaga:abs will not stop that car. You will only lose traction. You need to scan with a top end bmw scanner. On these vehicles, hpfp fails easily and can stop the car and start again when cold. If high pressure fuel pump is the issue, the scanner will definitely show it. As fpr the engine sound, pray its not the rod bearing. |
| Re: BMW Owners' Forum by HeavenlyBang(m): 9:24am On Aug 17, 2020 |
chukel:It's almost definitely that, though. |
| Re: BMW Owners' Forum by chukel(m): 10:11am On Aug 17, 2020 |
HeavenlyBang:true. However, engine sound shouldn't be diagnosed remotely. That vehicle is a twin turbo. On revving, rattling sound could be the turbo actuator wastegate rattling. Could be from the engine. Could be anything. Op, make a clip of the sound. If rattle is more after u stop throttling, most likely the wastegate |
| Re: BMW Owners' Forum by HeavenlyBang(m): 10:32am On Aug 17, 2020 |
chukel:Yep. If rattling increases with rpm, it's likely rod knock. If it's after letting off the throttle, it's probably the wastegate. |

Snoopyjaga:It's good you're in Lagos so visit the BMW line in ladipo and explain your situation. By now you must have realised you were scammed into buying a BMW with dead engine. Even a Jincheng motorcycle can be revved in "P". These are the kind of deals that give BMW bad rep ![]() You got a nice car and I would advise you REPLACE that engine. It's the only way to have a problem free ownership. |
| Re: BMW Owners' Forum by Billiebaba(m): 7:16pm On Aug 20, 2020 |
Snoopyjaga:Hello, I can help you solve your problem. Going to BMW line at Ladipo is a bad idea. I can help you get to the root of the problem. If you're interested, you can call or chat me up on 07060882711 |

whats the best BMW sedan with little to no issues and go very long without major issues with normal regular maintenance? Also can take some level of flood. |
| Re: BMW Owners' Forum by Hollet: 11:21pm On Aug 20, 2020 |
Thats rattling sound is simply the worn Vanos system gears and lash. Get a good mechanic to either change the top valves section and you should be good. The sound is usually like mables in a bucket. |

Snoopyjaga:BMW!!! Sweet to drive, makes you feel like a real man. Adrenaline pumping. Take the curves at ridiculous speeds. Delicious exhaust tunes. Gives you class. But when the problems starts, body go tell you. buyIng Naija used BMW is like blindfolding yourself and crossing Ikorodu road. Your chances of getting hit is like 98%. I used to think it is only in Nigeria people struggle with these cars, Until i relocated. It is a universal thing. I was obsessed with the Marque from childhood. Owned 6 of them in past. It was problems and problems all the way. I actually went to church to do thanksgiving the day i fell out of Love with them. Op just count your loss, learn your bitter lessons and Move on. The worse thing is after you fix the car problem. You will never trust that car again. Whenever you drive it, your mind will keep telling you something will go wrong on the way. It will continue until you let go of the Lemom. I know say some people no go dey happy with this post. I sincerely apologize for every inconvenience caused. Truth is a very bitter Panadol. You will need Coke to swallow it. |
