What if d hotel is demolished one day? Na state work we dey talk here, take d job even if d salary is 60k, it's more guaranteed. Except u are planning to work for a specific period of time and leave the country.

Bros, u are a maintenance officer. If u are a maintenance mgr u wont be working your ass out as portrayed rather you' ll be doing more of supervisory. So forget that manager tag and grab the STATE REVENUE job with both hands and legs.

Please house, I need you advice.
Currently, I am a duty/maintenance manager in a hotel and I earn about 100k monthly, the job is stressful as I only spend a night in my house every week, most times I sleep in the hotel because I work night. I am not complaining about the stress for now, because I am not married.

I feel that I may get a job as a graduate in a State Internal Revenue agency. But I want to seek advice from people who may have worked there before. Do they pay well? As a graduate, will I earn up to 100k? If its less than 100k, would you advise me to go for it?

Summarily, Hoetl Manager and State Internal Revenue Staff, which one should I go for?

even it is 50k in state inland revenue job, please take it.

OP: Pick this job: State Internal Revenue Staff. You will see the reason in a year or two

Hop you r not advising OP from the corruption view of things?
Cos the only way he will make good money in SIRS will be through corrupt means...
The salary is small but will increase in aliquots over the years..
The only advantage of SIRS is just peace of mind, job security and right connections..

Speaking from the same experience.... Left a big hotel at apapa for a fed. Govt Job,was paid 100k but a day off and most times I sleep like 3am always walking up and down trying to control the staff and then there are crazy ass customers that talk to u anyhow. Just woke up one day and said I have to quit this job luckily for me I got a job with the fed govt. Just that the pay is not up to 100k but I get rest of mind. Not been to work since March but till get paid. The only sad thing is the pay. So bro you alone can make that decision. Good luck bro.

Duty/maintenance manager in a hotel is still better than
a job as a graduate in a State Internal Revenue agency IF the the latter is not on contract please note BUT
if a job in a State Internal Revenue agency is a direct job please take it because the security is guaranteed unlike as a manager in a hotel. My own submission.
THANK YOU

Ah cool make your village pipu no go hear this one o. Otherwise, them go just work your title from maintenance manager to superior-supervising-maintenance-manager of the hotel. E be like eay the title dey sweet you.
If IRS calls today, you better drop that hotel job like hot potato . Even if IRS pays less, your job is secured and your promotion and salary increase will come as well. What if that hotel closes down or they fired you?

I'll advise you go for the state job. The pay may not be as much as the one you earn as a manager in the hotel but the job security is there.

I work in the private sector and I can assure you nothing is like a government job. Working in a private sector is mostly characterized by humiliation, disdain, oppression and abuse, most especially when you're rising up.

Start little and grow to enjoy peace of mind and happiness.

Stay safe embarassed

The hotel can sack you at any time. Government job may pay less but you're not likely to be sacked and when you retire you're entitled to gratuity and pension. It will also give you more time to do other side hustles. It's a no brainier.

if the state is not Lagos, well i cant really say. but if its Lagos then i might have some idea.

most internal revenue agency's take home is usually above what is been paid in the ministries

You definitely have never worked in a hotel. There is noone who works in a hotel that does not wish to change jobs for greener pastures. Even General managers seek change also. I'm talking from experience.

quote author=adonainana post=92912053]Hmm tough choice, the hotel you work are you the a top manager there and is there signs that your salary may increase in the future

As funny as it sounds, hotel jobs are quite secured because no matter what hotel services are always in demand from travellers, students, runs girls, G boys, politicians and thier envoys, artisans, boyfriends and girlfriends etc

There is always moneythere although this covid 19 is changing a lot of things but the internal state job will not at first guarantee 100k starting salary and you will have to move up the ladder which takes years, by that time perhaps you could have probably became a top manager at the hotel and earn twice the 100k you earn now

So think about your career progression at the hotel first does it look like good

Besides hotels just don’t go bankrupt like that overnight, although the bigger hotels tend to feel any recession harder than the small hotels although they tend to make more money than the small hotels too when things was good anyway

So it depends oooo bro [/quote]
Re: Manager In A Hotel Or State Internal Revenue Job? by 9gerian: 11:13am On Aug 17, 2020
Please ignore any thought about career progression in the hotel.

The IRS always take care of their own. I saw one lady’s life change emphatically because she got a job with IRS.

She now lives in VI, drives an SUV and travels the world intermittently - not sure how she affords all of these though... but it all makes sense that those who work to bring in taxes would be well catered by the government.
