As far as say the thing never reach 90 days..... brother you for just waka leave the job at first without writing a resignation letter... that would have been better....
Same way buhari leave he job for nearly 90 days...he come quickly run come back as the thing don almost reach 90 days.....
The same thing with federal government work..you can walk away for three months and come back... the highest them fit give you na query letter and warning letter

......if you know men way know men for the hospital then write a letter to withdraw the resignation letter and they will quickly dig into your files

Most who have stayed in both regions won't even argue with you. The north is infamous for being uneducated, unsecured, backward, etc, yet the people over there lead far better lives than southerners. Probably because they are less greedy and easily contented.

Well without the occasional religious conflicts and the current security problems.
The people are usually nice, content and helpful, but if you're a ruthlessly ambitious person I'd say the south is the place to be.

Straight to the point, I resigned my job in a government tertiary institution up north due to security challenges less than a month ago,. Now I have come down to a similar institution in a state in the southern part of Nigeria but finding it hard to cope here due to human relationship factors.. I wish to go back to the north and manage the security situations there than to be suffering human factors here.

The said institution is a federal government hospital

Now I learnt one can cancel resignation within 3 months of tendering it, my questions are now :
(1)is it true according to the civil service rule?
(2) what are the processes involved

I need candid answer to this.. You can add insults if you so wish.. I will be replying to further questions

If d salary south here is nice enough and the job is secured, I'd rather u stay south here and try to Cope gradually. IRS better than risking ur life up north. by d way I quite understood how u're feeling about d human factor stuff, give it time, it will fade away within three months. it's normal for u to feel apprehensive as u just changed environment.

In as much as the letter has not being processed to a stage of no return, you can still cancel it, once your letter of resignation have being accepted and approved, it can no longer be cancelled... it takes like 3 months for the whole process to be completed, so within this period, pray your village people are not on your matter...

Rush back to the institution and withdraw the letter of resignation. Meet with the head of the institution and plead with him not to accept your resignation letter if he has not accepted already. Even if he has accepted, he can still reject if other actions have not been taken to effect the resignation.

Well, except you are a consultant, I don't think you will still enjoy the old rhythm of your former place of work even if you are reabsorbed.

But honestly, except you have not worked in the North, working in the South as an employed labour could be a terrible experience.

Time keeping like school children, unnecessary envy, beefs, gossiping, too serious with life, competitions, stiff relationships between senior and junior workers, etc are common challenges with working in the South. Those things are not there in the North.

You should have researched before resigning. One should only resign in the North to pursue other career not to do same job in the South expecting to enjoy same privilege or freedom per say.

Why not go there and find out the level it has gone

Do you intend to settle in the North and raise your children there

Will you be there forever are you from there

Keep telling yourself that. As far as security is concerned the whole of Nigeria is basically the same. Except for extreme north east where you could be snatched by boko haram. Otherwise some parts of the north are even generally safer than the south.

Yes you can. It depends on if you had built good relationships before you left and the circumstances you left. Also, if they are compassionate people there. I say this because my sister resigned from a top federal parastatal some years ago to work for an NGO. After about 6 months she couldn’t cope with the constant travel and stress so she went back. Met the HR and she was allowed to withdraw her resignation. And she resumed back.

The Hausa’s, I don’t mean those indoctrinated people of the north oh! The core Hausa’s are the most easy and loving people...I say this from a position of a person who has lived his life in the west south north and east of this country! No cap...

Mistakemaker(gotta love your username), you have to know one thing. If you expect to enjoy the same kind of relationship, the same peace of mind you had while working in the north, you will never be happy.

Northerners are easy-going, laid-back people so your experience cannot be the same in the south. You said your resignation started on the 31st of July, so you've not even spent up to a month at the new place.

Try to acclimatize to the people's culture, you probably had to do that in the north too. If it is in the southwest, know that there's a lot of eye service here. But luckily for you, you are employed in a federal hospital and not a private one, so even if you refuse to play ball it won't affect your promotion. And please don't expect it to be like the north, it can never be the same.

If you still insist on going back, good luck to you. I hope you find a way.

you call boko haram and banditary occational? those situations have been gulping money from the national reserve for years.

Pleateau state which has been ruined thanks to hausas and fulani ( Jos used to be so peaceful) is the Only state I admire around that region,but those blood sucking hausas and fulani turned it into a shadow of itself.


Now let me with no apologies say northerners are nice until it's time to dagger you for the most frivolous reason. Even that best friend who is a northerner will target you first .

There is nothing nice about a person who gives you a handshake and hides a dagger behind with his other hand ready to plung it into you, going for the kill.
