Tell that to global airline companies, luxury goods' firms (McKinsey says that 50% of global luxury goods buyers are Chinese), stores in the UK, Switzerland, Paris etc., hotels, food companies, financial services, consultancies etc. There's no global company that doesn't have a Chinese subsidiary because of the sheer importance of the Chinese market.

Tell your tales to the founders of D&G who had to apologise in Chinese Mandarin because they (un)knowingly mocked Chinese culture or the C-suite executives in Cathay Pacific Airlines who had to resign because one of them praised pro-democracy supporters in Hong Kong. Or the CEOs of basketball teams in the US who cannot openly criticise the Chinese government acts in Hong Kong or the Japanese prime minister who has stopped visiting a controversial shrine because China is Japan's biggest trading partner. Naturally, Japanese don't like the Chinese but have to respect them because of the sheer importance of China's economy.
