When i was in primary 5, i was one of the maths teacher's favourite pupil because i was good in it i payed attention when he teaches.
so one day while he was teaching he started asking the class questions, people would normally raise their hands to answer but me i was just there looking at him or looking around, not that i dont know the answer but i prefered not to raise my hand or speak until i was ask directly. He notice this about me anytime he asked questions.
so one day he said to the class we have two types of personality the extrovert and the introvert, he pointed at me smilling this boy is an example of an introvert. I never knew what he meant but i cared less about.
i was very ok, i had no issue the way i was until people start telling me "this boy you are too quiet", "this boy doesn't talk to anyboy, he always keep to himself and stay alone all the time"
As i gree older the more it gets worse "ahh god forbid this boy too dey shame" ..... To be continued in the coment section...

Now nobody wants to be around me except my few friends i had who accepted me the way i am. I couldn't go for the gir i was interested in.
i was so ashamed, embarrased, nervous and fearful about doing things people do normally without a stress.
now it was dawned on me that i had a problem and i needed solution. I admired people that were brave, courageous, bold and confident, i so much wanted to be like them. I hated myself for being too shy.
now i was determined to change, i started reading articles online, making research, asking questions. I learnt alot i discovered so many new things, i understood better what my maths teacher was trying to say about the two personality. This made me interested in psychology, i went further studying it.
after everything i learnt i discovered it could not change me, maybe i need to put it into practise i thought to myself

After every every i started improving, my confidence surge up i was happy, i soon discovered i couldn't keep up with this new attitude because i was faking it. It did not last i later came back to my old self.
i was annoyed i went back studying again, this time it dint help. I finnaly accepted my self there is nothing i can do to change who i am (an introvert) but nevertheless i will never stop improving on myself, instead of being someone else i'll rather be the best of me.
what i am trying to say with this story is that 90% of the world to today sees introverts as weaklings, someone they can toy and play with. They see the male introverts as displaying female characteristics just because we are different

My advice to all those like me is that if there is any negative part of your character you can change please do, dont just accept everything the way it is and says because i am an introvert it is supposed to be so, there is nothing i can do.
No! You can actualy do something. Introverts and extroverts both have advantages and disadvantages, dont just accept the negative side of introvertion work on it and use it in your favour, it would be hard, it would almost be like u're changing yourself but you are not, keep pushing till you get there.

TIPS;
1. Be free: let your mind all out, when ever you feel like doing something do it, when you feel like saying something say it dont hold back, dont hesitate. This made me lost a lot of oppotunity those days.
2. STEP OUT OF YOUR CONFORT ZONE: Dont say i love being alone and staying indoors. No thats not life, there is so much out there waiting for you, step out there and learn to be confortable with crouds and social situations

3. Go with the flow: i remember when talking to strangers or keeping conversations was awkward even to ask a girl out was a big problem my head will just go blank i will have nothing to say, even in conversations too mehn the silence was just too awkward this made me had a poor romantic life and relationship with people because i was always inward, dint know what to say or how to say it. Go with the flow dont think of what to say, listen attentively and flow naturally....

I can't keep and maintain eye contact with ladies and i can't stand a crowd.I'm good in typing but mediocre in speaking English and that my top priority now, to speak english fluently hence needing me to converse with people more, but sadly people currently within my vicinity aren't that good speaking english, am a way better than them. I just hope they reopen schools so i can converse more with course mates.

Mine is relationship matter, i fed up getting lasting relationships,i just feel tired of the whole girl drama and they left.

My own introvert select friends, but na bad guys dey like me pass, well that's when i dey uni... Am grown-up now, so i search for good guys, but unfortunately all guys are now "child of the world", ọmọlúwàbí to bo ṣòwò ayé.

Same here, been an introvert is the best way of life. I love it, no unecessary useless friends, no noise, no foes but just me in my quite world. I never wish to change even in my next life. I won't exchange words with offenders but I will show you attitude you may regret or fight you when it becomes necessary perhaps taking advantage of my quietness like am a fool. I may pardon pardon for their wrongs but will never forget, and when I hate people there's no going back. I don't flirt my pictures on social media. unecessary discussion bores me. when I was tender I had serious issues with my brothers cos of numerous friends they brought home cos i always want to me alone or don't just like too much noise, their friends found me difficult or thoughts I hated them my sister friends didn't like visiting when am at home, they visited when am not around but left immediately I return, they thought as well I hated them but no they were beautiful chics I wish I could toast but shy away. My mum always proud of me cos I am her carbon copy, but my dad was always nacking cos he thought I was too slow. My close friends were the ones who toast babe for me in my early days.

Been an introvert is fun and I pray to have children and partner like myself cos I can't withstand too much unecessary noise in the name of conversation.

Thanks OP...I am an introvert also but one thing is that i am free and outspoken with the right people,i.e.people i am use to;you can't say i am an introvert among my people but the problem is that i don't talk to strangers;it hard for me to make friends with people i don't know or have something that will bring us together unless something or a situation prompt our friendship,i find it difficult to make friends but i observed that such attitude help me in selecting good friends and not random friends......Also being an introvert makes it difficult to talk to girls but it has being diminishing to great length because i have some close female friends and also i have never be in a relationship.

When you are still young you'll think being an introvert is a sign of a weakling, but along the line, you'll discover that its just who you are.

The good thing is 'you can become whoever you wanna be' just focus on the characteristics of the extroverts you want to imbibe and fake it till you make it.

I use to be like you. Strangers think i'm a snub, my closer friends think i'm the light of the party. I only open up to people who am kinda close to. You can actually change tho.

Being shy and not good on social situations does not mean the person is an introvert.

Wow....i usually thought it was only me with such attitude.

Tbh I see that a lot of people that say they are introverts are just suffering from symptoms of social anxiety.

The sooner one can realize this, the closer he/she is to solving their problems.

OP really did justice to the topic ... Really explain it ... Well me too I display more of the introvert traits , always trying to maintain my lane.... Dey ur dey make I dey my dey .... I don't go and be looking for attention it is quite the opposite ...... I don't go about talking to people unless there is something that warranted the issue in the first place ..... I attended lecture just 20 time the whole semester coz one I don't even understand anything, the students are too much, to me it is waste of time I prefer reading on my own and I still end up passing mostly average sha ..... I am always lost in my thoughts ....... I can engage in conversation and flow only if it is been started by another person .......... I can stay indoor and I will not be bored ..... I will say diz, introverts are highly and very observant , they are good listeners , they are highly altruistic bt people see them as proud , arrogant ,painting unknown pictures abt them , introvert highly cherish friendship and if you happen to have one as friend, you have an ally for life coz they prefer no friends at all than toxic friends ..... Well bt side hv advantage and disadvantage...... Most introverts hv dis special ability or power like a mind freak or manipulator that is why villains are usual attributed that particular trait , their observation giv them clue abt things making them best judge or assertion of situations or opinions... There is more bt it is better to develop both side even though we exhibit more of one side than the other

To say truth i find it difficult to start a conversation with females but i am a type of guy that play with females alot;i look for their trouble since i can't really start conversation with them so with time we will connect and the conversations will come from nowhere...I find it childish looking for female trouble growing up so i began to ask my experienced friends on how to converse with a lady,with that i learnt some things and also i go to google always to search on how to converse with a lady and it really help...Now i can start a conversation with a lady anytime,anyday but sometimes my introverted nature pulls me back not to converse with some ladies not that i don't know what to say...If you can practice what i did,it would really help.

OP what u need to understand is being introvert doesn't mean the person is shy, shy is a social anxiety ..... Introvert has to do with the kind of traits you choose to display at any given time ... One thing I know and I strongly believe is that introvert really underestimate themselves ... Introverts in all given situation may think that they cant do this they can't do that but given the situation will do more and even do better even surprising themselves ...... They are like wisemen who alway think that they are not wise ..... So forget dont try to change who you are and only focus on your strength and weakness one of the greatest weakness of an introvert is the loop trap which many of us find ourselves in .... Always playing things in our head multiple times because we over analysis things which sometimes led into a indefinite loop

I'm an introvert, seems I was kinda rough at child and teenage but now. is just me minding my business. well I will say life made me introvert, but my social Energy is highly voluminous when I want to let it out

Dr isis, I've seen you here again. You are introverted too.

Urmm. Op. I think yours is very chronic. Im an introvert too but mine is not as chronic as yours. Though when i was much younger, I only had the challenge of facing or addressing a crowd but as time went on, I decided to work on it by joining the social clubs in my school which helped a little.

Years later I joined the youth meetings in church, the choir and other departments just to be out of my shell and it worked but didn't change my personality because I still end up keeping to myself after all that. And I think I like it cos that's who I am.

The only thing all those activities I engaged in has helped me do is not to be totally withdrawn from social life but I still I have my limits as I can't go all out like an extrovert. At least I can address a crowd boldly cos at some point I went into teaching professionally and in Sunday school where ministers sit under my teachings. So to some extent that has helped me work on my confidence level therefore I can flow whenever I want to, ruling out any question of shyness but I'm still withdrawn in a way and I'm cool with it.

There was a time I tried to force myself to become an extrovert. You know what? I got exhausted, irritated and tired that I immediately craved my introverted life and I naturally slipped back into it.
I dont fancy visiting friends, don't even have any. I don't like going out, I easily lose interest after a few trials and can stay indoors the next one year. So you can't really change who you are. Worse is, anytime I tried changing it, I always regret. People see me as not friendly and yes I'm not cos I get bored easily. Not my fault though.

Op, love your person and do you. Its more fulfilling.
